Default Sizzix vx. Sizzix Sidekick

Hello everyone!
Just heard that the full-size Sizzix machine is on MAJOR sale at Michael's - but I already found out that I'm getting the Sizzix Sidekick and a Sizzlits alphabet for Christmas...do I still need the Sizzix machine? I'm really tempted - my presents are in the hall closet and I'm SO tempted not to open them yet!! I need HELP!!!

It depends. If you want to use the larger dies & alphabet sets you will need the Sizzix. I think it would also need it for the embossing folders they make. But if you think you'll only use the smaller sizzlets sick with what you have. Either way it sounds like a great Christmas!

The Sidekick can only use sizzlets, making it very limited. If you are going to use the larger dies, you need to have the Sizzix.

I'm not sure about using dies from other companies yet...
My problem is - I know that the larger dies will only work with the larger Sizzix machine, and Sizzlits will only work with the Sidekick (unless you have the converter for the larger machine) - what I want is an opinion of which you prefer ---in other words, does it make sense to you to buy the larger machine if I'm going to have a smaller one? I really won't be buying many dies, maybe the tags and shapes, and the Sizzlits alphabets.

I just got the Sidekick myself and (fingerscrossed) will be getting an alphabet for Christmas. The reason I chose the Sidekick over the Sizzix full size machine is because I wanted the occasional diecut for a CARD, not a scrapbook page. I felt that the Sizzix dies were too big for cardmaking. Plus, you can always diecut those larger pieces at your local craft specialty store (Archivers has a great policy)!
