It is a FULL 8 INCHES with out any fold outs... I have larger ones from when I scrapbooked a lot, but now 99% of what I do is cards so this one is wonderful. I will say that when if starts to tear or pull on your paper sometimes it just needs the cutting thingy turned to a new edge. That rubber thing in the base - you can use it 4 different times as new, then they sell replacements very inexpensive - that makes it cut like new for me most of the time.
I was just going to suggest that one - I have it and I LOVE it to, and am mostly a card maker, so it's perfect for us!

It's available on scrapbook.com with the various different blades.

If Fiscars is really listening, and I hope they are, I also want a cutter that I can use to pull DOWN when I cut, not push up. I have much better control when the paper is pulled down toward me and the blade is drawn downward! I can line the paper up to the perfect number and see what I'm doing, then use my left hand to stabilize and pull toward me. I typically just flip it over and do it that way any way, but it's so frustrating that all the numbers are "upside down"! kwim?

sooooooo true,
I know I have given my kids many trimmers that I just could not use..
I do love fiskars trimmers, my first one I bought was the gray one, i could not find the blades for it anymore so I have dedicated it to scoring..

the one thing that REALLY drives me crazy about fiskars trimmers is, the blades do not last very long!! seems like after cutting ten sheets of cardstock, I need to replace the blade because I get the fuzzy's..

FISKARS, if you are reading this, if you make it, we will go buy it!!

I agree. I hate having to buy the blades so frequently!
