Default Cuttlebug vs. BigShot??

Hi all,
I recently killed my Cuttlebug and need to replace. I have some regular Sizzix dies, thin Sizzlet dies, Nesties, and embossing folders. Any recommendations as to a bug vs. a Big Shot? Pros/cons? Thanks!!

ps- hubs has agreed to let me purchase NOW as an early Chrismas gift! The man knows I'm going through withdrawal!!

If my CB died, which it hasn't, that little bug is still going strong, but if it did, I would get this:

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...=1&topnav=&s=1

If you are a Costco member, it's a pretty great deal plus free shipping.

I gave my CB to my mom last year and bought a BigShot. It is much easier to crank the dies thru and I have a great choice of materials to put thru it. I like being able to use just about any die. I can still use all my CB embossing folders and then switch to my SU collection of BS dies.

Default The Big Shot is the Better Choice

You can use everything that is compatible with the Cuttlebug with the Big Shot, but not the other way around.

You might pay more up front with the Big Shot, but you'll get a lot more mileage from it. Sizzix, Sizzlets and Nesties, plus all the embossing folders can go through the Big Shot, no problem.

It sounds like your a heavy user so I would go for a BigShot/BigKick. They both take a lot of abuse and they are sturdy.

I prefer the Big Shot because it is easier to use, in my opinion. If you tend to have little table room, you can put the BS on top of a few papers, but the CB has to be suctioned to your table.

Now, I am curious: How did you kill the CB? What exactly broke on it?

If purchasing from a store, I would go with the BIGkick. BigShot is the same thing, just different look. Both are stronger and more sturdy than the Cuttlebug.

You can purchase the BIGkick in a store with a coupon. BigShot is not available in a store in my area.

I have both the Cuttlebug and BIGkick. Purchased the Cuttlebug first (BIGkick was not out yet). I just prefer the stronger machine over the Cuttlebug. Color and size are not of any concern to me, it's the function of the machine. Also the BIGkick or BigShot will work with any dies on the market, where the Cuttlebug will work with most, but not all due to it's slightly smaller size.

Just my opinions as a use/rowner of both machines.

I have a Cuttlebug and am shocked that I can't seem to find new folders or dies for it. Is the Cuttlebug being sunsetted?

The BigShot is now on my wishlist.

There are a lot of new Embossing folders out...HSN and Oh My Crafts both have exclusive sets (they are different sets) for Christmas out. SU has the pointsetta type one that is beautiful too.
blessings.

I switched from my Cuttlebug to a Big Shot. I haven't looked back. I think it is a sturdier machine and more comfortable to use. I got mine at Ritz Camera (yep, they sell 'em!). It shipped fast and free but I don't know if the free shipping is still available. Good luck with your choice!

I switched from the Bug to the Big Shot a few months ago and find that the Big Shot is easier to use... Because of it's wider base, I find it more sturdy and stable.

I have both and purchased the Big Shot when it came out for use with my business - and I love it - I never thought I would use it more than my Bug as I loved my bug...

But the BS is so heavy duty - and it cuts through fabric with ease which I love and my MIL loves as she is a quilter - mine has cranked out thousands of die cuts and is still going strong

If you are looking for a sturdy machine this is the one for you...my poor little green Bug hasnt seen the light of day since I got my Big Shot and I NEVER thought that would happen LOL - and the range of folders and dies you can use with it is vast - it is a fab machine

It was my fault. I used a shim that was too thick. As I was cranking the sandwich through, some internal spring or something broke. Now there is no pressure from the roller mechanism.
