Default Pleated Circles

Can anyone tell me how the beigey pleated circle was made? I keep seeing these everywhere. Is it a folding technique or a die that does this?

Thanks

Lisa

How about this from Nicole Heady of Paper Trey. She shows how to make the "Lazy Stampers Circle Medallion" that sounds like what you are talking about. She uses a circle die that I don't have, so I used a similar size scallop circle die. Mine turned out pretty cute, but there is a lot of folding involved, and on small pieces of paper, lol.

Tim Holtz's Rosette die makes quick work of them.

I have a Tim Holtz Sixxiz die that makes them.

You can do it with a long rectangle too like here:

Wow! Thanks for the link. That looks a little easier than the ones made from circles. And I always forget I can use a glue gun to adhere paper things. I got my glue gun out the last time I made the paperclip bookmarks with big flowers, and it worked great for that, too.

It looks very like the Fan Fold flower in resources, only scored with a smaller interval.

I used 12" strips 1" wide, scored every 1/2", then flipped the paper over and scored 1/2" again in between the first score lines so that I had scores at every 1/4". This way the "valleys & mountains" go the right way for folding and you get nice even, sharp folds for your fan. Glue the two ends together, push the centre together and then glued onto a circle a little smaller (about 1" wide). I just made 11 Christmas cards with this technique, so I got 12 "flowers" from one 12x12 sheet of paper.

Thanks, Cat. Sounds like a great technique for making these cute little embellishments.

One more thing, does anyone know if the Tim Holtz die works in the cuttlebug.

Thanks so much.

It does! Here's a link to one I made with fabric fused to light cardstock.

Here's another alternative for you: Edge-Punched Medallions - Martha Stewart Crafts. I've made them, and they are very easy. The hardest part is keeping the folded piece together while you're folding it.
