Question Does paper matter for new technique?

Hi Bev! I've trying the new Embossed Embossing technique and can't get it to work. Seems like no matter how hard I try, the ink gets in between the dots thus get shiny too. I don't have pigmnet ink, so used VersMark, brayer, embossing power. Tried 2 kinds of ep. Used embossing buddy too. User error or paper ( not sure what mine is; probably not SU!) Do I need heavier paper? Thands.

Try this - leave the paper in the embossing folder when brayering on your ink. You know, open the folder up, but don't remove the cardstock.

The plastic sticky-up parts of the folder will stay up in the sticky-up parts of the paper and help to support it, so it's harder for the brayer to hit the low spots and it will kind of just roll over the high spots.

I haven't actually tried this with this embossing technique, but it's what I do whenever I brayer or sponge ink onto an embossed piece to highlight the raised areas.

You can try using Direct to Paper - just emboss the cardstock, and gently rub the Versamark over the raised areas and then add your embossing powder.

What embossing folder are you using?
I remember we did this as a TLC a while back (TLC310 ~ Heat Embossing on Dry Embossing~ (01/31/11) by joan ervin at Splitcoaststampers), and I remember that I found it easier to use a detailed embossed piece. For example, I can't imagine trying to do it with Swiss Dots! I'd use a Versamark pen if I wanted that one .

Post Yup, used Swiss Dots

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll try your ideas! Too hot today to think, let alone create. I'm heading to the mall to get cool!
