TLC310 ~ Heat Embossing on Dry Embossing~ (01/31/11)
Hello everyone....are you ready to get inky, sticky, and sparkly??? Well, if you are....I have the perfect technique.... Heat Embossing on Dry Embossing!!! I first saw this technique on my friend Bev's (TexasGrammy) blog with this adorable card. She has a FABULOUS video here on her blog.
1. Dry emboss you cardstock with an embossing folder.
2. Run an embossing buddy over the dry embossed cardstock before applying the ink.
3. Ink up your brayer with Versamark and run it across the raised area of the dry embossed cardstock using a real soft touch...you only want the ink on the raised part.
4. Apply the embossing powder, shake off the excess, remove stray embossing powder with a small brush, and emboss with a heat tool.
5. Taadaa!!

Very awesome! I've tried to do this other ways but it never quite worked out. Bev's use of the brayer is brilliant!! I will work on one in the morning Thanks, Joan!

I've always found it hard to find the right balance between too heavy a hand and too light a one, but hopefully work and housework will still leave me time to try this again later on.
Thank you, Joan.

This was a challenge as I didn't have a brayer and just had to gently rub the ink pad across the raised embossing - but it worked okay with the square lattice folder! Thanks, Joan, here's my Silver Bird

What a FUN challenge. Okay...so I modified a bit. I embossed on patterned paper and brayered with Vintage Photo before embossing it with Iridescent Ice. Just call me a rebel. LOL

I think this one may have created a monster. I could see myself doing this on everything. Great technique. Thanks for sharing it. I'll try to make something and post it later.

I would love to try this. Love embossing and heat embossing, but I have never done it together.

Great challenge. I love how everyone's cards look. I was a little too hard with the brayer and had a terrible time with overage with the gold ep. I still used what I did because it had a vintage feel to me. I will definitely have to try this again.

This has become a favorite technique of mine lately! It helped me to accomplish a card that I'd been imagining since Saturday. Here is my Inspired Sympathy card

It's been a while since I did a challenge on SCS. Had time today to do two of the Heat Embossing cards!
This one is done with a Cover-A-Card stamp and SU's Elegant Bouquet die.
And THIS ONE is for my sister's birthday tomorrow. I used a Sizzix Cupcake Die along with the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder.
Hope you like them.

TLC310, CAS104 I'm All Shook Up
Here is my I'M ALL SHOOK UP card for the technique lover's challenge today. It also covers the CAS challenge today for rock'n roll. When I hear R & R I immediately think ELVIS so this card is for him. I added the bling because he liked it almost as much as jelly doughnuts
