Finally started pulling out my packed up craft show stuff, to see what I need to concentrate on making. Forgot I made these last winter! Jumbo clothes pins
I do have the Joann's app and was using it but they have now changed it so that Canadian customers are redirected and the redirection is not working. so, now I have to google the coupon images and try that way. You can't even just choose to use the US one because they can tell where you are and what phone system you are on. it sucks.
I usually get their flyers in my mail when the coupons are already expired too. :(
Diane, how many sixlets are you putting in a bag and do you notice that you almost have to do 2 of the same color then 2 of another color, because the sixlets are round and sort of slip down? I love how they look but was thinking I would only be putting like maybe 16 or 18 in the cello bag with a topper but I ended up putting 24 in them. And I still had to fold a bit of the top of the bag down again and staple the scallop tag to it. I am using the smaller scallop punch tho and not the SU one so that I can use my 1 1/4" images on them.
I do love how they are turning out tho! Super cute. This is my first year of doing the cello bags...I had always done test tubes and only put 12 Sixlets in those. But then I sold those for $1 generally, so I am thinking of doing these as $2 each, 3 for $5 or 8 for $10 (which at this lowest would make them $1.25 each).
Man I wish JoAnn's would have their 60% off coupon again! I got bags of Sixlets for $3.04 (tax included) with those coupons.

I decided to use 20 in each bag and made the topper with 1 1/2" circle inside of a shape cut with my ScanNCut machine sized just under 2". Love the machine as my wrist cannot handle too much punching all at once.
Here is a pic of mine this year. Sorry it's a bit poor quality.
Thanks, Diane....super cute!! I might end up doing 1/2 ones, with just 12 in them and sell them for $1. People are always looking for the small cheap candy items, it seems like.
Then doing the larger ones with 20-24 for $2 but just less of them. I can't imagine making 100+ of Christmas and 100+ of Thanksgiving ones of these.
If you have a local Walmart, I got a large plastic tub of Sixlets for $5 each. I believe they are 30 oz?? But they only have a couple of colors at this price...clearancing them out, I guess...but I got the 3 colors mine had...black, silver and metallic lavender. The black ones I am going to make "Coal" treats out of. The others and black I have used in some Halloween ones and then I will use them in Christmas ones too with some circle images I bought.
At another Walmart (we have 3 in the town I work in) they had big plastic jugs of the 1" gumballs for $5....black, white and silver. 120 in each jug. I bought the black ones and the white ones and plan on making these into $1 treats too. Coal and snowballs or snowmen (I've seen people draw on cello bags with sharpies to make it look like a snowman face and buttons). I didn't get the silver because I couldn't think off the top of my head what I would make with them but they were pretty.
The cocoa holders look great!
I just finished a lot of 140 large glass magnets. These are fun to make but feels good when they are done. I will probably post a pic to my facebook page in the next day or so of some of these.
I was at Michaels today and all the xmas stuff is now out. So fun to browse. There is a 50% off coupon right now so I grabbed some of the new glitter 3D flowers in their dollar+ section for cheap. Had my hubby with me so grabbed 2.
That section has some very cute tags/embellishments and some x-large glass test tubes. To buy a few of those will take a few trips during the week but I might do that. They are quite nice and I think they will go fast.
The chalkboard craze is still on too as they also had many craft ornaments in black chalk style.
Diane, where do you find all the great quotes for your magnets? I would love to do these for co workers
I have been working on the box in a bag sets following Crafty Hallett's tutorial. I have to say these are very addicting! I already have orders for multiples! :-) Next I am going to tweak the tutorial so that I can do A2 sized cards. She did 4 cards for her box, I decided to do 6 cards.

Everywhere!! haha
There really isn't a better answer. I am always searching and noticing quotes because I love quotes. Facebook, church billboard signs, magazines, Pinterest, bookstores, journals, etc.
These are THE most time-consuming crafts I make, but it is also the ones I enjoy the most. I make tons of things with quotes. Bookmarks, cards, magnets, jewellery, etc. That why my company name is "Inspired Bliss" for inspirational.
Hello Diane, Your notebooks are lovely! I loved working with this size too. I bought mine at Michael's last year during one of their after Christmas clearance. I think I bought mine for ten cents each! The only drawback, all but four had a floral image on each of the pages!!! Oh well! What is your price on yours? Thanks, Maria

DarcyJo....if you check Etsy, there are people who sell digital downloads of 1" circles. Many are used for little girls' hairbows but you can also find inspirational type quotes too. I have bought things like this for my magnets.
I just typed in 1" circle quotes digital download. You can see how many come up. I bought some from BehindTheDoor and JewelryFool in the past. They are not as unique as Diane's but I like to buy this kind of stuff because I am too talentless with computers to make them myself! LOL
Thanks Maria
I bought mine at Michaels too on sale. They had a very ugly black and white pattern on the cover but the pages are all plain lined. After taxes, they cost me 80 cents each. After decorating and packaging, the cost was $1.30ea.
Kelly, That designer makes very nice circle images and quotes.
They are selling images as pdf with a specific number of designs on a page. I have been tempted but never bought any because I like to size my images to whatever project I am working on. What I need is to be able to just buy the image and use it as I wish.
I cut my paper around the circle after I have adhered the glass to the image. This allows for more precision and movement (such as using just part of an image under the glass). Fun to make but yes.. not quick.
Diane,
That is what I dislike about buying them...you just get one size. Now if it's not in a pdf and I can print it off from Window Viewer (or whatever that is?) then I can resize to a certain point...like I can make 1" circles into 1 1/4" or 1 3/4". Which is nice to be able to do for when I need a bit larger image, but there are always at least a couple of images I don't care for out of the 15 that are on the sheet. So I am stuck printing them all and wasting ink....sigh....
Kelly, after you print the first page, can you just cover the ones you don't like with a matching white circle and print from that sheet instead of the original download? Then you could cut your very favorite ones out and stick over the ones you covered on the first sheet you printed and continue to print, ending up with only wasting the first sheet and having extras of your favorites. That doesn't sound too clear, but maybe you know what I mean.
Karen
Thanks ladies! I do not have any actual design programs Lori, but have been thinking about getting something and getting a new computer at home. I just sent my son off to the Army, so I am waiting to see how everything goes before I invest in a new computer and some decent design program. I think there are free ones out there too. I just honestly haven't had much time in my life to learn any of that stuff, but now that my only baby is gone (at least for a little while), I would like learn to do more of this. I would much rather make my own images or at least be able to edit images I buy to fit my needs.
Brookskaren... I understand completely what you are talking about! I didn't even think about this...duh!
Tomorrow is my first craft fair of the season...wish me luck! I have found that fall festivals are usually kind of crappy for sales and that's why I stopped doing them. I'd like to prove myself wrong!!
Kelly,
I also have my first craft fair Sat & Sun and am very disappointed because they are forecasting rain both days and it is outdoors. It does not usually rain at all here is September! ugghh
You guys will get this...I picked up a bag of M&M's that I had bought a week ago and I popped it with my scissors by mistake. So I made this M&M stick for show and gave the rest to the family ;)
I have 50 of these toppers ready to go, but will fill them closer to the shows.
OK, so my outdoor craft show this weekend was a bust. It was 12 degrees Celsius (which is around 50 F) and raining and windy. That is winter weather around here! UGH - and never happens in September! Oh well, you can't plan for mother nature. I did not return for the 2nd day as my products were getting rain blown onto them (I had to cover them with a clear plastic tablecloth which didn't even help with the warping of paper.
I definitely lost about $50 from my fee as there were hardly any people in attendance to buy. I am trying to stay positive as this is the first craft show in 5 years where I have actually LOST money. Other bad ones have barely made my fee but never put me in a deficit. So, I guess that is looking at the bright side.
After a very hot shower at home, I spent the evening bagging up 136 M&M sticks. My fingers are aching but now I am trying to come up with some cute toppers that are different from last year's style before I head off to work a night shift. If I can come up with a design, I might be able to get some done at work tonight if it is a slow night.

Sorry, Diane. What a bummer! I haven't done shows for a couple of years, but I remember some like that. I only did one outside show, and regretted it. We have terrible windy weather here in Oklahoma, and I just could not keep my things on the table! Also, there was poor attendance.

Good morning... I secretly scope out this thread to get ideas for handmade little gifts and stuff...I have never done a craft fair. I love all the ideas. I'm going to try my hand at the minion tic tac holder thats for sure..as my grandson is all about minions. Figured I would give him one for Halloween.. I also need an idea for a batman treat holder and some princessy ones... hmmmm... wish there was a listing.... thanks for all of your ideas..
Diane...I feel your pain! It poured the night before but was dry and cool the day of the HarvestFest. We had a huge puddle where our booth was supposed to be so they let us move up a couple of feet so that we weren't right in the middle of it and we moved our "entrance" to the other side so you didn't have to walk in the puddle to enter our booth...although people still did! That was our entertainment for the day...watching people walk in the puddle or trying to inform them of the puddle before they walked into it. What is sad is that I KNEW the puddle was there and still kept walking in it, so I was wearing soaking socks and tennis shoes all day. =(
My friend, who is the one who wanted to do this show so bad but didn't want to do it alone, sells makeup so she talked me into doing it then proceeded to be gone from the booth for over an hour at a time shopping at other booths. (I HATE outdoor shows! and Fall shows! And "fests" where it's not specific to buying things but that is just an added attraction. And people who give their kid a dollar and tell them to go have fun and buy stuff then said kid touches everything in your booth, opens things up, messes things up, then asks how much something is and when you tell them they only have $1 and ask if they can have it for free! and this was all of the above!) So, lesson learned. Never try to be nice and help out a friend! LOL Ok, that probably wasn't the lesson I was supposed to learn. Just stick to your guns and don't do outside shows. =)
That being said, I didn't lose money at least. (Didn't make much, but didn't lose) I am so sorry Diane, that you did. It is never fun to have your product ruined and lose money! I had some items get ruined also and was bummed. It sounds like a miserable day all around for you! =( I don't blame you for not going back on Sunday. I wouln't have either.
Wendy...those tic tac holders are adorable!! Last year I just made a "booklet" style cover for mine but if you don't mind someone copying your idea, I may try these? I never have any good "boy" type candies...all mine leans toward girl styles. Which is funny because I only have 1 child and it's a boy.
And to answer your question...I made some new magnets trying to have some kid friendly magnets and the Minions were my most popular one at this show, even over Frozen! I thought my Frozen magnets would sell best but Minions did, followed by Inside Out. The kids liked those the best.
What do y'all make for boys? I need to look for some boy images to make magnets out of, too. Maybe the Ninja Turtles?? My son is 19 and at Basic Training so he can't help me out with what is hot (plus, about the only thing he ever wanted as a kid was GI Joe stuff and those little green Army men and boxes to build forts out of). So I'm out of the loop on popular boys stuff.
Yes, Minions are popular. I did make up some Inside Out this year. I used a group shot because I am not sure which character is most loved.
Taylor Swift was popular recently.
I looked at the backpacks out for sale this September for themes and same old ones are popular. Spiderman, Batman, dinosaurs. I made some up of those, but boys seem so boring! lol
Agreed Diane! I have so much more fun making girly stuff...maybe because I don't have girls? I didn't think about Taylor Swift....or any other pop stars. One Direction, maybe? Are they still hot?
