I posted that I water colored, but I did Marker Layering! ( for YCDI) I had done this card before coming to my DD's, and photographed it and forgot what I had done!
Hi jci. Haven't had any crafty time lately, it is time to be getting the garden in. I was supposed to get together with a group that meets once a month this coming Saturday, but it's been canceled due to commitments with graduations and things. I just may have to make it a crafty day at home and go some seriously needed cleaning in my craft room instead.
I'm home! I had a fantastic time in the Netherlands! I met so many cousins! Our reunion was great too and I also managed to get in some touristy activities as well as a bit of shopping. I even went to a craft store and bought a set of sentiment stamps in Dutch. But despite my good times I missed a lot of things too! Here follows a list of things I missed.
1) My grandkids
2) Internet access
3) My own comfy bed
4) my SCS friends ....sorry Kathy, that you had some issues after your surgery. I hope you are not in pain any more and are feeling good.
5) The days of warm weather
6 A regular walking schedule

Thanks so much for filling in for me Sharon. Those were a couple of good challenges, and I will try to at least get one of them done. It's going to be a busy weekend for me, with a birthday party for my grandson tomorrow, church activities on sunday (working the computer for the overheads, and having a meeting after the service) and visiting my daughter in Toronto on Monday, as it is a holiday weekend for us.

Ina, I missed you! I am so glad you had lovely time! I got so excited when I saw you had posted a comment on one of my cards. It was like, Ina is back!! Yay!!
Hello, ladies. It's been a very long time since I've been on SCS. Crazy year so far. DH has metastatic prostate cancer. It spread into his bones; a tumor midline of his pelvis, one tumor at the top of each femur and one in his spine. He had 10 radiation treatments last month and the tumors appear to have shrunk. He's not having any pain in those areas any more. The cancer wasn't caught until it was in advanced stages. The good news is prostate cancer is very treatable and it's very rare a man dies from it; they'll more than likely die of something else. He will have to continue with hormone treatments for some time. He has a follow-up with the oncologist this week. Now that my worries about him have receded, we got news that my dad's PSA was high. He had a biopsy Wednesday and won't know the results until Tuesday. On top of that his blood work shows that his kidneys have been compromised. He doesn't see that specialist until the 27th. Needless to say, it's been kind of a crappy year so far. I haven't really had any time to make cards. Between work and DH, I haven't had much ME time. it seems the minute I sit down to relax I fall asleep. I haven't even had a chance to catch up on posts or galleries. I just wanted you to know I still exist.
Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry about all your trials! I'll be praying for your husband. Even if you don't have the energy or desire to do any crafting, please drop in here once in awhile to keep us up to date. Big hugs going your way!

Ladies, it's great to be back in action mode. There's always a bit of a jet lag when you cross that big pond so quickly.
This week's challenge is to use an embossing folder. It doesn't matter how you use it, but in my sample, I inked up two colours, direct to the folder, messed up the first paper I stamped and then huffed for a softer colour and just inserted the paper and smoothed the folder out with my hand to just transfer the ink, sort of using it as a stamp. It's todays TLC482 challenge, so I will be doing double duty with my sample card.

Debbie I had already replied to your PM before I saw your post, so good to hear from you but sorry your having such a tough year, I was wondering how things were for you but realised life must be very hectic with hospital visits and tests etc. Keep in touch when you are able, thinking of you both.
Well arrived home at 5am this morning, long journey home but so pleased to be here at last, we are so tired after only five hours sleep.
Like you Ina we missed our own bed, internet, lovely warm weather and we are both feeling so unfit as it's been very hilly where we have been staying and at our sons so we didn't get much walking done, and what we did was very slow with having Joey and Charlie with us, we have had a brilliant time with all the family, goes far too quickly so looking forward to October and our visit to see them all again.
Welcome home Jan! I just know you had a wonderful time with your grandsons, but home is always best! You missed some really hot weather while you were gone though.

Well, I tried today's challenges! Thank you Ina! Here is My Day.
I will try another time with better colors. And my glimmer didnt sparkle. Maybe I need some new.
Welcome back Jan!
Deb, so sorry to hear about your DH. Sending prayers for you and yours.
Thanks Sharon, I need to get crafting and doing some challenges but getting over the journey is taking time, we've been installing our new printer this afternoon, steve bought an A3 printer, can't believe how quiet it is and my computer has been in for a clean up so its much quicker now. I have loads of photos to download of our holiday too.
Hi Ina I'm just passing through. I'll be back next week. I just got my gallery up and running today and I'll be adding cards and work space over the weekend. Hope everyone has a good Memorial Day Weekend!

Hi Ina, are you rested after your trip? Been busy reorganising my craft room, had to move my cricut to make room for the new printer, then I had to move my stamping area as that's the only place my cricut could be plugged into the computer, now I can't find anything!
Hope everyone has a great Memorial Weekend! We are childless this weekend and have managed to get some cleaning done, having company for lunch today and then will be visiting my folks tomorrow. In between I hope to get some crafting done!
Yes, I hope all my American friends have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Our holiday weekend was last week, but there were fireworks last evening. I didn't go to see them, as I had a busy day and went to bed early. Mowed the lawn and then went to help my DD with my grandkids. Carrying around a 21.5 pound six month old is tiring. She also has a broken collarbone, so you have to be so careful how you pick her up and carry her.
Good for you Jan, to reorganize your craft room. However, it's no fun when you can't find anything. You know, I really should take my cricut out of the box and start using it.

Hi Ina, I really haven't felt like crafting, still feel tired after our trip and we've had jobs outdoors too, I know what you mean about carrying grandkids around, I really felt it on my back lifting Charlie, how did your grand daughter break her collar bone, our son broke his twice as a boy, once he fell out of a bunk bed and then playing American football, mind you he was a skinny little thing, Joey has his build too.
Jan, she was just trying to reach up and lost her balance and tumbled over. Funny thing (well, not really funny) she fractured her left collarbone. Her mother fractured her left collarbone when she was about 2 years old, and I also have an old fracture of my left collarbone. Don't know when it happened, as my parents never mentioned it. It probably happened when I was little, as my parents never mentioned it. Back in those days, people didn't go to doctors very fast. I just discovered it about 10 years ago when I dislocated my left shoulder (the first time) and had x-rays and by then my parents were no longer with us.

What a coincidence, they can't do much with collar bones, or they didn't used to, glen just had his arm strapped up, actually his was his left one the first time and he is left handed so pretty awkward at school.
Hi there Jan & Ina! It is trying to rain here. Thundering and thundering , but not a drop yet.b we need it so bad. 7 inches below so far this year!
You might be interested and maybe not, but in the SCS scraplift challenge I lifted Jeanne. That was fun. So I see her over in the scrapbooking forums too.
So fun to make all these friends.
Ina, my DH was planning a trip to Bannf, but now don't know if he is going thru with it, with airfare so high. So we are now looking at a roadtrp to see Mt. Rushmore.
Hi girls! Banff and Mt. Rushmore are along way apart. Unless you are up for a long car trip one way. Both are equally beautiful for different reasons. We were in South Dakota two years ago and it's really the state and the people that I loved.

When we go to Banff, we will fly and then rent a car. Driving to Mt.. Rushmore, will be one night at a motel, before getting there. Not too bad. So he booked the motels, so guess we are going in a couple of weeks. DH hasn't been anywhere for two years, and wanting to go somewhere. LOL I have been to see our daughter twice in that time.
Our last big trip was our wonderful cruise up East coast and then to Quebec City. Like our favorite trip ever! We were in Nova Scotia, too.
Sounds like a lovely trip Sharon, we keep saying we will go to Calgary on our way to San Francisco as steve spent time there in the 70's with the army, I've always fancied hiring an RV and visiting Yellowstone park. We are going to Chicago for three days and travelling on the California express from Chicago to San Francisco.
The scrap lift looks fun Sharon trouble is I don't scrapbook, I've only done two in card forms for birthdays. I'm going to try to join more challenges this week, hopefully we will back to normal and I can concentrate.
Good morning everyone. It looks like another beautiful day here in Ontario. Tomorrow the rains come. Today will be a day devoted to gardening. It hasn't really been warm enough for butterflies to show up outside, but we are going to bring them inside this week. Yes, that's our challenge. To use one or more butterflies on a card. My samples are both thank you cards for my cousins for hosting me in the Netherlands, so the sentiment is in Dutch.
