Today I took Brooke to get her first pair of pointe shoes (and Emily's 14th) and of course since it is in Marietta, GA, I just had to stop at Archivers on the way home. It's a must ya know. LOL! I am very proud to say I only spent $5. I wondered thru the store and just couldn't find anything I just had to have. I kept thinking of all the stuff I have already.
Tomorrow is supposed to be an at home day so hopefully can get to Kelly's challenge.
thanks for all the love left on my cards. I noticed one has been favorited 8 times. I don't think I've ever had a card with that many.
Wow! I'm impressed. I cannot go to Archiver's without spending way too much money which is why I don't go there very often. Of course that doesn't keep me from finding good stuff online.

My challenge card for this week also doubles for the teapot card. I created this to be mailed to our Destination of Soni B. Just a little something to help start her new year off with smiles. I've also put the card in my gallery.
You can read the story here. There's still time to play!
Gorgeous. I don't think I saw that card last week.

I uploaded the other two cards I made yesterday. These are the cards that Ina's comment inspired. Thanks Ina! For all the details about them, check out my blog post today.
Okay, I am now officially in, with a .sig line and everything!
In addition to the more standard things that "earn" for this challenge, I included a few others:
Using only paper from scrap pile on project: $1
Using items from stash: $.25 per item type*
Recycling/Upcycling an item: $.50 to $2.00**
Bonuses:
Finish CCC cards for month: $1
Finish 1 month of Card a Day project (with blog posts): $5
Spend at least 30 min cleaning out/reorganizing craft supplies: $1
Donate/give away a box or bag of stuff from house (craft or non-craft): $2
Plus I am doing $1 for 30 min of exercise and $1 per pound lost; we'll see how that goes, lol!
I started my tally as of 1/8.
*I have an idiosyncratic way of deciding what counts for this--basically it is if I use something I have looked at and felt guilty for not using. Like I didn't count metal-colored brads because I use them all the time, but I do count eyelets because I bought lots and then started using brads all the time instead! Basically, I don't count if it is something I would use/use up without consciously trying to use my stash, if that makes sense.
**I give myself $.50 for something like a tag or a piece of paper from a junk mail envelope or such. $1 for something small like a box. $2 is for making a stamp out of something recycled like a jar lid or something that can be used repeatedly (and $.50 for subsequent uses of it).
great cards Debbie & Mschoener! I left some love for ya both.
Katchoo1, welcome! Looks like you got a plan and have started out great. I included exercise and weight loss also so maybe we can encourage each other.

I saw that. Thank you! And thanks to anyone else who has left comments. Now, I just need to figure out what to pay myself for all that hard work. ;)

woo hoo! I got to spend some time in my craft room. I have a workshop Thursday night and Saturday so had to work on those projects. I made another Valentine's card and a candy gift. I do a paid subscription to U Stamp with Dawn and Friends special project editions and finally made one of the projects tonight. It is a heart shaped box. I'll post a photo of it and the cards tomorrow.
So I went downstairs to get on the treadmill and got sidetracked by an idea for a card. Amazingly, the idea actually turned out the way I wanted and I love it. I'll post photos tonight. BTW, I did get on the treadmill after I finished my card. I did 30 mins today and yesterday! woo hoo!! Now I'm off to run errands and go to the office.
Good for you for getting the exercise in too! If I get sidetracked to something else I "needed" to do or something constructive, I often let myself "off the hook" even tho I know I shouldn't, so I am extra impressed!
I made a card for this challenge, but was operating off of my memory. You know how that can go. As I made an anniversary card, could I be wishing my hubby great things in the next year of our marriage? Get this, he will be gone on our wedding anniversary, so I will be sending it in his luggage

I get where you're at. Great additions, too! Good Luck.
I think I'm back to working out next week. Going to give my body a calm week after the last 15 days.

its steph here, in never-never land! i.e. never get around to writing! yes, kelly... i suppose i do keep busy. but i keep wondering HOW!? i keep trying to simplify my life and take things OUT, and more keeps sliding in...agggghhh!
so, as i said to someone yesterday...i am hoping to start the new year by teh time Chinese new year starts!
...still trying to get our place back in order now that we are home from the farm..at least ken has finally got his room clean!!! i am getting there. and we got gifted a new vacuum cleaner on monday - absolutely amazing!!!! so that is exciting! God works in the most amazing ways!
i think with a few extra hours (like this one when i cant sleep in the morning!) i should get all i want to get done by sunday morning, which is when ken and i go to tasmania (large island off bottom of mainland Aust.) we are going to see some homeschooling friends for two weeks, and ken will have his Bday there. ahhh, a bit of time to relax and catch up with encouraging friends, cant wait!
i know when i get back from there i have to be ready for all systems go as i have lots of organising to do! we have started looking at tours for our trip to borneo in may and have NOT yet done much about our trip to canada yet. waiting on my brother to tell me how many frequent flyer points he has. -just makes a minor (NOT!) difference to the cost of the whole thing!
..needless to say we will be studying a fair bit of geography this year, and i would SOO like to have ken reading a bit more before canada- even if only for the selfish reason of not having to answer so many prying questions from family etc....
so no, i havent got too close to my craft table recently! no shortage of things to do just....
but i did do my totals from last year a while ago and just didnt get to post them...so please be kind.......(and remember our costs are about double despite the even dollar these days!)
the 'earned' also includes my garage sale and all gifts i recieved during the year that were used on stamping stuff, this is about $1000 of it.
earned : $2400
spent: $2700
net: -$300
proceeds to A21: $400
total number of stamp sets: 73 (ouch!!)
in fact it is all kinda OUCH! but hey there it is! i am actually not too unhappy with the -300 as i know that it could have been worse if i wasnt here on this S2s. - well assuming i had the money! most things i have bought i have used well. my bigshot which i got the end of october (Bday) and hardly used for the first few weeks already needs new cutting plates! i did a really large project for my uncle for Christmas - a calendar he can read without his glasses. (yeah, i forgot to take pictures woudlnt you know!). each half of the calendar was a 12x12 sheet (ie. picture side= 12x12, and date side = 12x12). used the junior alphabet set to die cut all the numbers. i was soo happy with it. but man did it take lot of time and alot of die-cutting! (ever think of how many "1" digits you need for each calendar month?!)
glad i increased my donation to A21 antislavery campaign.
needless to say i wont be doing so much this year. and of course i dont have a garage sale to set me off with a nice amount to start! in fact i have decided to not make the slavery campaign a focus this year. - was just getting too much responsibility kinda. still have my box at church, but wont add as regularly. i always tend towards extreme! if i am not doing A21 i know my desire for stamp sets will decrease - a good thing! because i simply dont need as many ( i feel) if it is just for stuff for us.
i have figured - maybe - on a way to make a bit of money. i went to a Norwex (microfibre cleaning products) party in december and decided to sign up. brett was so much happier about that (brett would never come at SU, i know why!) and hey the starter kit is much cheaper than SU! i really love the products and while i didnt intend to do any demo's i like the product so much it is tempting. ..will see. still have to discuss that with brett,. but i am sure he will enjoy a cleaner house! ;)
...and i am going to sell my hair ! i have found a place and will get it cut in the next week or so. i should be able to get about 18 inches off at least. that will be different!!. i have always told brett that i would put that money towards the trip to Borneo.
alright, well i had better leave this 'tome'!!! it is really nice to sit down and write to you guys, i miss not being on here so much. will see how i go this year! to be honest Kelly, i cant really see me gettign too many challenges done! but i like seeing them, and you just never know!....thanks for all your work Kelly.
take care guys, hopefully i will drop in again soon.
got my sigi and avatar changed! with Australia day coming up on 26th Jan thought i would put on (a very odd coloured!- it's white!) picture of our parliament house. it is right here in canberra, ... i do like living in the capital!
...also 70th anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Darwin on the 19th of Feb. they are referring to it as "Australia's Pearl Harbour" i have never heard it referred to as that before, but i suppose that is kind of right.
...also meant to say i do feel kinda worn out since doing my uncles calendar. it was just kinda overkill! so hopefully my mojo will return. hopefully after the house is tidy and i feel organised again! my husband would laugh, i dont think he EVER considers me organised! LOL!!! its all relative! .... or maybe i am learning something off of him after 14 years! EEKS! scary!!
A little more cardmaking, but I did have a bit of shopping spree this week too! Bought a nice pile of used Stampin Up stamps from a fellow Splitcoaster, and "won" a Take Ten back issue on Ebay, so now I am in the hole. Time to get to using those new supplies!
Thanks for the encouragement on my list of things to "pay" myself for. I am most excited about the reuse/recycle option because I got a book on making stamps from repurposed items and really want to start doing that more!
Welcome back Stephanie! It sounds like you are so busy.....I'm glad you are getting away for two weeks. Lucky you....Tasmania! And Borneo is in the future too. Wow! Enjoy yourselves and soak up the friendship and encouragement!
I suppose I should post my totals.....I have started the year out spending, so I'm in the red. Haven't been exercising either. Today it was raining again. I really miss the snow. This is totally not like January at all....rain and 7 C. degrees! You've managed a card a day, which is great!
Katchoo1, you are doing great, keeping track. I see you've earned quite a bit already, so even though you are a bit in the red, you are doing o.k.

Ina, i would offer to send you some of our snow we finally got, but we really need it around here. We're sitting at -7F with a windchill of -22. Of course, that's pretty normal around here. It's good stamping weather.

Oh Debbie - how do you stand it???? I don't think it got that cold here EVER (I'm in southern New Jersey)!!! I can't stand it when it gets into the teens.....
BUT - that being said...I love it when it snows - ONLY if I have no where to go...(but sometimes work and I don't agree - LOL)

We've had colder weather before. We just put an extra layer of clothes on. I'm only about 5 min. from work. That's a good advantage of living in a small town.... not much traffic. The power bills are no picnic, though. I'd rather put up with the cold than the humidity.

Humidity is our problem here come August...(though not as bad as down in the southern part of the country....)
