Love your picture Kathy.. I have done some of that in the past as well. I still love to knit and crochet, used to sew a lot when my kids were small but not anymore.. I never have quilted. Thinking back there are so many things I got into.. Quilling, leather work, pressed flowers....folk art painting and ended up still doing the card thing. Right now I am enjoying playing around with the Mixed Medium stuff and that can still be used for the cards..
Have not heard from the gals you mentioned.. Hi to Donna... Diane's name I see on the word challenge but there is no chatter used there. I think life just gets in the way sometimes.....
Connie's quilts are beautiful and got me thinking. Does anyone else have other hobbies besides cardmaking? I used the do counted cross stitch until my eyes got worse. It is hard now to focus going from the pattern to the project and back. I'm attaching a picture of my pride and joy. I have soooo much time into this picture that I just couldn't give it away. No one would understand the time and love that went into making it.
So then cardmaking came into my life in 2009 and I love how I can put a card together in ten minutes or two hours or two days, depending on what I am doing. I tried scrapbooking once, but there was too much time involved in those, although I think they are amazing. I have done a few pages...
Your cross stitch is gorgeous! I also do (or used to) cross stitch and other counted thread stitching (needlepoint, hardanger, blackwork, etc.) I'm currently doing a little knitting and crochet. I'm going to teach a friend how to tat. Those are just a few of my "other" hobbies that get less attention because of my obsession with card making. Most of my cross stitch was smaller pieces, and a lot of Christmas ornaments. I don't have the patience or vision to do something like your picture. I am currently working on a large simple sampler and a small reversible blackwork sampler. Oh, and I also do some quilting. I have one pieced and layered waiting to be quilted now. Um, also machine knitting ... and a little beading alone and with cross stitch ...
and even if you aren't a mother, remember that women are nurturers....so you deserve to be honored and celebrated this weekend!!
Thank you - and Happy Mother's Day from me also. I no longer have my Mom, but my daughter called me yesterday and said she would text or call on Sunday.
Hmmm...well I sewed all of grupmy's baby clothes, I knit and crochet, I tried quilting and made 3 full sized quilts but handling that much fabric just killed my back, I dabble in folk art, I have made jewellery but right now it is paper craft. I have card making and scrapbooks...either paper,,,or digital...or hybrid
Hi ladies....I went foraging and came back with this
I like! Whatcha gonna put in there?
It's nice to hear the other things people like to do. I quilted once and that was a cross stitched top quilt. It was a printed cross stitch, follow the x's....I still have that around here somewhere and I know it is older than DS #1 (and he's 30..)
Just finished the basics on my mom's card. Have to embellish yet. I made a z fold. Followed a tutorial, however she (can't remember who) cut the border separately and taped to the card. I just used an edge punch to the top of the card. It was much easier. It's really coming out pretty. Will try to post a picture after it is all done. I had a different card for mom, but then DH asked if I could make one for a lady who sits with him in SS. She was a good friend of his mothers and since his mom is gone, he wanted to give her a card.
Good afternoon ladies! Happy Mother's Day! Just wanted to let you all know I remember I post this week's challenge and I have everything ready to go - just not sure if I'll post it later this evening or early tomorrow......

I got the sweetest gift, made me cry. My DIL (just married last year) sent me a bouquet of handmade flowers from her and the girls! They each had stuff written on them and stickers (the girls don't know how to write yet!) And I got DD gift cards so I will have plenty of coffee for a while!
I make pottery, I crochet and knit, I work with fimo clay, I do beadwork, I used to do cross stitch until I got carpel tunnel and tennis elbow. Pottery I can only do once a week as it takes my shoulders and arms that long to heal fro the process. Now the only thing I focus on is French the weekly challenges and every now and then I will dabble with mixed mediums.
Those who chatted this week so far: Annie's Pantry, dawnmercedes, greywolf, JanetJ, laurenscraft, marney, muzbysmom, sama, smadson, stamp300, stamperamma and VickieY. Did I miss anyone?
