Jean, love, love your card, the texture is fabulous, and the sentiment is so true. I should make a huge sign like that and put it on the craft room door!

I came across a bird-watching book at a sale that I was going to use for mixed media, but instead have it sitting on an end table in the living room. We get all kinds of birds in the hedges by the front porch, maybe I can turn into a bird watcher this year.
Great idea, Kandie:
I’ll bet you do a good one.

This is outright stunning, Kandie:
That binding has left me speechless.
Your hubby must love this.

Hi Jayne and Everyone:
Thanks for a great Challenge: I made a card a few years back using Bees wax over a collage. Kind of like encaustic. I even bought the sweetest little iron to smooth the wax coating.
I haven’t got to it yet but found my iron and little knob of wax so will be working on it soon.
I went looking to see how others do it and found this video. WARNING...it is a long one ....but somewhere in there she shows how to make your own cool butterfly with wax, tissue paper and wire.
Video in next post

Wow Melody you find all the videos. Thanks. Jean get out your floor wax lol.
SuZ I say to DH I wonder where I can get bees wax from. He says I don’t know but you’re not having any lol. He was listening to the video. That iron she used is cool. I love the collages she makes and am trying to work out how I can do them without bees wax and an iron lol.

I finally began a couple of journals/albums using scrapbook paper/dp. I don't journal and have only made two scrapbooks, one for each of my kids when they graduated high school. This picture is only of the cover, there is a picture of page one in progress in my gallery. I've wanted something to hold my Zentangle projects and came up with an album of envelopes:
I think I'm going to stop playing the MIX. Frustrating that they often forget to post, very few participate, and hosts don't comment, except for Polly.

Thanks Jean. Will add you on the list. I like what you did for your journal cover.
Friday is the one day where I’ve noticed that challenges are posted late. I can only access them if I go through the forum threads. I like them but never seem to get to making them unless I double up. I find it’s the same people all the time participating in challenges and commenting. Hopefully some newbies will take the plunge. It can be quite daunting at first.
happy messy mixing lol..we are off to the football..no craft for me today

I've FINALLY taken time to make a Mixed Media project! Yay! I made one for Nancy's Corrugated Cardboard Challenge for March 15th. Such fun! I really need to do more of these challenges but life sure gets in the way sometimes!
Gracie and Jean awesome creations. I made mine whilst FaceTiming with Nancy earlier today. Such fun. I got very inky lol. I’ll post mine later in the week as I’m double dipping.
Happy weekend everyone

I do plan to get back to participating in the challenges again here soon. With being on the Dirty Dozen team that takes most of my crafty time. April is my last month. I do want to go back and do some of the older challenges here.
I work full time and don't have a lot of extra time to craft all day. Although that would be awesome if I could.
I think there isn't a lot of participation because the challenge is not on the main page with a separate thread for each challenge. I find that format so much easier to participate in challenges. This one is a bit confusing. Even though this is the chat thread, there is chatting in the other thread.
I do hope the mixed media challenges continue. If you need me to host a challenge, let me know. I prefer Mixed Media to just card making.
Started on the corrugated card challenge, I found some blue but I didn’t like the colour so I tore the top piece off and that’s as far as i went, I had lots of ideas u til I actually got to my craft room
Melissa, that would be great if you could host one of the challenges. Let me know which date you would like.
Yes creating for the monthly themes can take up time and away from other things. Since I’ve finished my stint I’m finding I can just do what I want. I also have a lot of catching up to do. I did ask if this thread could be linked to the main page but never received a response. I think it’s doubtful it will happen and it’s similar to how the alpha challenges operate.
Yep there is some chat on the challenge page...naughty naughty ladies lol...I think some got confused....*wink* including me lol. Personally I prefer just one thread for everything but had requests to separate them and just have challenges on one. I do think we should post our creations on the challenge one and not here and keep this just for chat, but at the end of the day I really don’t mind. It’s no big deal as long as people participate. I’m also not the thread chief...I simply administer it and hope someone will want to host it properly after September. It would be a shame for it to end.
Jan I got very inky when I made my panel and I did use blue but I was doing colours from another challenge as well as Nancy’s corrugated card one. Have fun.
happy messy joyful day everyone

Well, Jayne. I can tell you why this challenge has some glitches that the alpha challenge does not. Because we have multiple challenge posters, whereas Ann is the only one who posts the alphas, so hers are all in the first post, but for MMJ, they end up further down in the thread, and if there is any chatting, it gets mixed in.
One way we could 'fix' it, but it would make a lot of extra work, especially for you. At the beginning of the year, assuming that's when you start a new thread, post 12 (1 per month) or 24 (2 per month) new 'saving my spot' posts in order right at the beginning (one post per month or per challenge). You could even give each of those 'empty' posts the number of the next challenge. Then as each person is ready to post their challenge, they could send the information to you and you would edit the next appropriate post with their challenge. That way, all the challenges would be at the beginning of the thread, and chatting could follow. Am I making sense? The main thing is that you would have to be willing to do the extra work and each challenge host would need to get their information to you in a timely manner, since you would be the only one who could edit those original posts.
Thanks Melody for this and yes I can see why ours gets messy...seems appropriate lol...as we have so many posting. I was going to bail out from doing the admin after September and was going to see whether someone else wanted to do it. I don’t want to see the thread stop but we do need to fine tune it. I really don’t want to have to do all the admin work as since the upgrade when editing it comes in in computer language and is confusing on where to edit. That’s just the first post though. I wonder if we can get hostesses set up similar to other challenges....my guess is probably not.
Am I correct in that you are saying just one thread and all the challenges posted in order and everything else follows after that?
if all else fails we can start to have the creations posted on the challenge page and then just have this thread for chat.
I appreciate your suggestions Melody. Thank you. Food for thought.
Any more suggestions?

Am I correct in that you are saying just one thread and all the challenges posted in order and everything else follows after that?
Yes, that is what I meant. For VSN, hostesses each post their own challenge in the master thread (in the hostess section). In order for them to be in the correct order, 1st person posts, then contacts #2; #2 posts and contacts #3, and so on. Usually there are some who have their challenge all ready to post, but others do not, so if you aren't ready, you just post "saving my spot", so that you have a post to edit later. That would work for us if we knew who was going to post challenges, but since we didn't/don't know ahead of time, I thought the admin could still do that. I understand that you would like to step down, so maybe you can ask for a volunteer to take over.
Thanks Melody. Yes it would be nice to have a volunteer for the site or at least to help if no one wants to do it all......so....putting it out there...
Would anyone like to take over running the MMJ thread after September?

I see that, even though I totally get the two threads, I'm guilty of chatting on the challenge thread. Rats, I'm sorry. Don't know what I was thinking (not thinking).
Jayne, maybe I should change what I was going to do the next time I host a challenge; using envelopes might be redundant since Kandie is doing mail art.

Kandie, I think this little reminder that you put at the end of your challenge post "These videos should give you ideas galore! Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing your projects on the MMJ chat thread. Enjoy the day and stay safe." is perfect. Maybe if we each put something similar at the end of our challenge posts, that would help us remember to keep that thread for challenges only, and come back over here for chatting and posting our art.
