Just popping in from work...shhh, don't tell! But I wanted to tell you, Kandie, that I took my card for Anita's mom to the post office this morning on my way to work. It was so funny, the guy said, "I'm just going to put one stamp on it." Then, before I could say anything, he almost did that but, at the last minute, looked at the address and said, "Oh! It's going to the Netherlands!" So then, of course, he pulled out the $1.15 international stamp and put that on. I'm sure, though, if I had gone to the post office in Auburn, they would have debated about whether it needed a padded envelope and customs form. It shouldn't depend on what PO you go to but it certainly does around here!

Hi guys.
We went to Oklahoma City (again) for the weekend, stayed with the friend with the big gorgeous house 2 nights this time, and had a big potluck on Sunday after the Irish set dancing. (I'm gaining a reputation down there- a couple came after the dancing just for the potluck!) I ran the smoker last Thursday, and took 7 meats with us for the potluck.
I also made DH take me to the outlet mall down there, to the Vera Bradley store, and I am a happy camper! I had called the store last week, and was told they had 3 pieces in Lilac Tapestry, but none at all in Pink Swirls. Got there, the sales person greeted us, asked what we were looking for, and she said they actually DID have one piece in Pink Swirls, got it out for me, and I bought it. Yay! (It's a Villager tote) They retired the pattern in May 2015, so I understand why it's hard to find, but I LOVE it! I didn't need to get hooked on something else, you know? Wasn't paper crafting enough???
(Everything in the store was half off, retired patterns were 70% off, so I was very pleased with my total bill.)
Question for Ann- I get that a color for H was hard to find, but with the exception of that one hit when searching online, harlequin refers to a pattern, not a color. I get that it's just a suggestion, and there are other more common colors for H (hunter green, heliotrope, honeydew, harvest gold {which any old people like ME ought to remember from appliances & carpets long ago, lol!}, honey, hot pink, etc.), so do you WANT us to do a harlequin pattern, or just find a suitable H color?
Pat, btw, we run into Vera Bradley at estate sales all the time and sell wallets to totes for 3 bucks. People get snooty and only want the latest patterns. Bah!

Tomorrow's challenge, should you decide to accept it is to do a Valentine's Day card OR
take the week off and catch up, goof off, relax, clean, do anything else you want!!

Hi ya Crew!!! Took my darling youngest daughter out for her birthday dinner. We had a blast. I can't believe how old my babies are. Heck Lil D will be 18 this year. ahhhhhh!!!!!!
Harlequin is a very bright green on this chart! This is the one I used to pick colors.
Use any color you like on your cards just so it starts with the letter of the week!!
Now, no making up names for colors!! LOL! You must tell us a legitimate name of the color!
I bookmarked your color chart link! And I realized thatni was thinking of amethyst when I saw amaranth. No wonder I thought it was a bluish purple! </o
Adding to the chatter. Can anyone tell me what was the deal with the discontinued Stampin Blendabilities that were alcohol ink. I only bought the crumb cake trio and the daff. delight trio. But never did try what I bought. Don't even know if they work!
Kathy - I hope your sister gets better quickly and that your son's goal of an Arby's sandwich is realized.
Kandie - I haven't watched enough Miss Marple to have a favorite there. That is funny about the lady waking up with an accent. I've never heard of that before.
Kathy - oh, those are some good authors in the book you mentioned. I have heard Patsy and Barbara at Women of Faith events and Chonda Pierce is very funny. I'm sure that is a great book!
Ann - glad you are stuffing the zinc down your son's throat and your's too! That is a good idea to purchase a sheet of international stamps. I should do that too.
Pat - yay, you found the new thread! Uh-oh, your DH is in the dog house? I have been mad at my DH but, fortunately, never around any card giving occasions. I can't wait to give him his card tomorrow. I made the view master card several weeks ago but it was for him for Valentine's day. He is going to like it because he likes engineered cards.
Dani - my oldest daughter will be 18 in October. She is kind of freaking out about that. Both of my girls have figured out that they have it pretty good right now - better than being adult. Some kids don't figure that out until later.
Shirl - I had to google Amaranth too! I had no idea what color it was. Yes, I meant your version of the fun fold card that Kathy had posted. She mentioned that you were watching the video of how to make it. With regard to your question about the discontinued Blendabilities, I think maybe one of the demos in this group might be able to answer your question. I have no idea. I didn't purchase any of them having decided to go with Copic markers. My guess is that there was a quality problem that caused them to discontinue them but I don't know.
the blendabilities were discontinued because the caps weren't tight enough and they were drying out. At least that is my understanding. people were returning them and I don't think stampin' up wanted to deal with the extensive number of returns anymore.I had quite a few sets. I now have all the regular colors of the new sets and share the other ones with some friends.
Honestly, I'm not sure I've ever heard of amaranth as a color before! I don't think it was in my crayon box!
That said, when my older brother was in high school, his school newspaper interviewed him (they were interviewing all the seniors) and one of the questions they asked was, "What is your favorite color?" He sarcastically replied, "Magenta." When they wrote up the article, they said, "His favorite color is magenta, whatever that is!" When I saw that, I said, "Well, they must not have had a very big box of crayons because I know what magenta is from there!"
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY CREW!!!!!!!!! Well Ann, I did do this week's challenge only I pulled a "duh". My daughter's birthday is today so I made a Valentine/Birthday card for her. Only I forgot to take a pic of it before giving it to her. Can we all say "DUH DANI"? lolHow is everyone feeling today? I decided instead of letting Dawn bring me down...I am going to try to rub off on her. Maybe if she sees me motivated she will be too. Now...how to get myself motivated??? lol I'm going to type in red all day today in honor of Valentine's Day. Okay....I'm off to figure out how to get motivated. All I really want to do is climb back in bed. If you have motivation suggestions please share them. My list is made...now what?
C - my granddaughter told me last night she doesn't want to be an adult yet. lol....She's like "Meemaw, I'm not ready. I still have a ton of kid left in me. What do I do with that?"
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! What a terrific group of ladies you are! I love reading through the chatter even when it is days later because to find women who support each other the way you do is so heartwarming! I am praying for all of you who are sick and in pain and hoping today is a much better day for you! Paper hugs and glittery smooches! Love, Karen
Happy Valentine's Day! I'm up and dressed but so far no call from mom. I know they got showered and ready last night, so I figured we'd be off and running by now. I finished today's tutorial. It's a little tricky doing watercolor on yupo, but I did two cards.
Pat, btw, we run into Vera Bradley at estate sales all the time and sell wallets to totes for 3 bucks. People get snooty and only want the latest patterns. Bah!
Shoot, MY problem is I fall in love with discontinued things! The heck with the latest, I end up wanting what you can no longer easily buy!!!
DH is in the dog house simply because he's being his father. I don't take well to being told "just because that's the way I want it done". We butt heads a lot because I come from a matriarchal family (Mom was the boss) and he comes from a more typical patriarchal family (his father is GOD).
I went to stamper group last night, and did it again. I totally redesigned one of the cards she had for us. Good thing for me my demo's ego isn't fragile! I (obviously) used the elements she had for us, but not the way she laid them out. She liked my card.
