I just looked at some of Crissy Armstrong's stuff and realized I had already looked at/and leaned towards the girl with the horse...imagine that! We'll see what happens, I'm sure I'll have more than $50 of stuff I want to get!
Kathy, do you have a really big church? You mention mailboxes... I'm sure everyone will be tickled to get goodies from you. =)
Haha, yes, Catherine.. they do have really cute stuff.. I really like the artist Crissy Armstrong...
I'm sitting in my craft room, trying to will away a headache. =/ I took some Naproxen and ate dinner.. so hoping I'll feel better soon. I need to count Christmas cards. See how many more I need. And I'm still procrastinating on chapstick tags... I have ornaments to make and I'm making my son in law a gag gift that I'll give him on Thursday when they are here.
my work table is a mess again.. I guess I better get to it though...
They're really mail slots. About 2-3" wide and 7-8" tall. Probably about 100. I'll do a few at a time.
I wonder if our church has anything like that somewhere.. I don't think we do.
Thanks for the link Melody...
Kathy, I've not heard that song.
Catherine.. I like the girl with the horse too.. but Idk who I would use it for... but that's funny that you picked out that artist. How's that go? "great minds..." and all that. ;) hehe
Kathy - I can't help you with cooking the turkey. It has been a long time since I've cooked one since I'm a vegetarian. I think my recipe is packed still. I kept it because it is very personalized by my sister-in-law and filled with family jokes.
Kathy, does your bird have one of those pop out timer thingies? So you know when it's done? Those are pretty accurate from my experience. Also, if you want to cut cooking time down, use an oven roasting bag. I tried it once a long time ago and I never do one without one now. It is kind of amazing the difference it makes. And even though I was always a baster... using the bag, you can't baste.. but they're always tender and juicy delicious. xD
Well, I got my gag gift done for my SIL. He has a full beard and I made him little tiny ornaments to clip to his beard. LOL He is so funny and he's always making a big deal of his beard.. one year, he and my daughter arrived for Thanksgiving dinner and he had his beard parted down the middle with 2 tiny rubber bands in it.. like 2 little pony tails. lol So I figured he'd get a big kick out of these. I'm very glad they are done though.. I don't like little work.
I counted all my address for Christmas cards and I am almost done with my cards for this year. I'm a little disappointed because I didn't get to use all the ideas I had. =/ Maybe I'll make more.
I need to start on the chapstick cards/tags for family... I decided I'm going to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle card for my grandson... he's crazy about them. So I've been researching them. I wish I had an oval punch. =( But all I have is an oval die and it's a lot more round than I'd like it to be for the turtles' noses. So, Idk. I could just make them circles... I may not have any choice.
I make mine even two days ahead and cut and layer the meat in a crock pot!
Layer the meat and season to your liking in between the layers.
All the women were discussing how we make our turkeys today at the chiropractor.
Every one of the five women there make theirs ahead of time and place it in a crock pot!!
It works wonderfully Kathy!! The important part is to layer the meat and season it between layers.
Then letting it sit for the day or so enhances the flavors!!
I make a turkey for Christmas Eve too! Always really tender having it in the crock pot that extra time.
Take it out of the frig the day you are serving and place it on high till it is heated thoroughly, then turn it down to the low setting not warm setting!!
I usually start mine in the morning if I am serving it for dinner. Then I am assured that it is hot all the way through.
One year I let my SIL make the turkey and bring it for Thanksgiving. She had it in a crock pot and stopped at another home before ours!! Well never again!! She plugged it in when she arrived and of course the meat was cold. I had to spoon it all out of the crock pot and place it in the microwave!!
My rule, no one else brings the meat if I am hosting the event!! Sides you can whip up, always veggies in the freezer, etc! Meat not so much!!
But I have made the turkey and frozen it up to two weeks prior, thawed it the night before and started the same way in the morning. Did this when I had arm surgery the week prior to Christmas.
I can't even remember the last time I cooked a turkey. We always go to my sister's and she does the turkey. This year her DIL is making it, but she only lives next door. Everyone else brings sides, salads or desserts.
Vickster! Thanks for the love on my card for the letter N. You must have been leaving that when I was leaving love on your adorable dragon! Amazing punch art!
Pretty much same here. My kids grew up on LauLaus for thxgiving vs Turkey. They will eat if it’s there but it was never anyone’s fav except for the next day for sandwiches the skin was more the fav if it was flavorful and cooked to crisp lol but I don’t do turkey only time I did was a few years when my son brought it home from his job who always gave turkeys to their employees for thxgivin...well he no longer work for them after all these years so it’s back to making laulau in the crockpot for me or what my kids love love Love is my Creamy Cheesey Chicken broccoli mushroom. They fight to make reserves for later or next day lol one year I had to make it with turkey the next day because non would eat the turkey I cooked but boy did they fight when they found out I had made it in to one of their favorite dishes
Aww you rock sis always so kind it’s greatly appreciated!! I am still so stoked for your win!! You would have thought I won!!! Now we just need more prizes for more of our alpha sistahs!! I’m crossing fingers Des gets one since she has had such a ruff time lately that be so nice
Opps haha I was so rushed for time I forgot to glue is nostrils lol oh well he is as he is and I’m ok with it. Lol I wouldn’t have know if I didn’t move the sheet of paper I put all the punched pieces in before assembling him . It fell out and it’s so tiny too. Lol it’s ok for the challenge he is as is and for when he gets a new home he gets his nostrils lol
Anyone every notice there not any baby Challenges? I have 3 ladies at my church have babies. I only know ones a girl these other I don't know yet. And I don't have any baby stamps or cards either.
Linda, I have some real cute baby paper. Do you want me to send you some and some cute stick-ons?

Phil. 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Good morning. Great chats on turkeys. DH and I have been reading them. Wonderful idea about early cooking and reheating in the crockpot!
I went to bed at 8 with a migraine. We three ladies (50, 65 and 72) and DH worked ourselves to exhaustion, to the point of legs giving out, cleaning out that house. We boxed all items left, most of it in the basement, did the pass-it-to-each-other up the basement stairs, on to a long rolling cart, and into the garage. Trash the same way up the stairs, but DH had to go get a trailer because there was so much trash, and we carried it all to the street to put in the trailer. I mopped floors, cleaned the bathroom and kitchen, the other two ladies did the basement which was huge, I mean huge. It was a beautiful sunshine day but the wind chill was around 20 and biting, and we all got blown around trying to walk. My head got so cold, hats wouldn’t stay on, and I don’t think I was the only one who developed a bitter headache.
At the end, I patted the door of the nice clean darling house and told it that it was beautiful but I hoped I never saw it again, lol.
Sharon, I haven’t driven the car much yet, but it sure looks pretty sitting in the garage!
Another steroid prescription from the doctor for spots. I now have four lined up on the counter. My legs and arms are itching like crazy. The stress of these sales is a factor, I know, and that IV did not work at all. DH says this is his last year to be helping with sales; he’s getting older (he’s 73) and it is such hard work for him to be lifting heavy furniture and hauling trash. I think we’ll both be done with it pretty soon.
Speaking of, a customer who lived in the neighborhood saw our truck at the house and stomped over demanding his 5$ back for a DVD player that didn’t work. We have signs posted everywhere that say As Is Where Is and No Guarantees on Electronics. I gave him the evil eye, I’m afraid, and went over all the rules again, and he argued with me. Then he decided he’d paid 10$ for it, not 5. DH said then bring it back. The guy stomped home and we called DSS who said give him his $#& money back. The guy came back with the machine, he and DH got into a screaming match, DSS walked in and threw him off the property, with his $10 that I threw at him. He threatened to come back and beat #$&. DSS had to leave but he said call the police if the guy even steps foot on the property.
I remember this guy from other sales, so I will remind him if he ever shows up again to Try The Stuff Before You Buy. Although, I’d rather just call the guys and have him escorted off the property.
Yep, a little stress. Oh yes, the other two ladies hid in the basement, lol.
I’ve been trying to get to the craft stores for a week! I think today is the day, yahoo!!!
Wow, I’m so sorry! I kind of unstressed on here, lol. Sorry about that!

Good morning! Jennifer an s.Catherine, you sound like you are having fun looking at what you might want,
Hawaiian, I have to look at your gallery. Looks like you have been crafting. I pray .des wins something and starts to feel more like herself!
Kandie, Wow! First, don’t know how you get ready for and do those sales, let alone clean after them! Then to put up with crazy customers, too! Have fun crafting or craft shopping. I never got to any craft sales this year or even any garage/estate sales.
I enjoyed the turkey discussion, too. Kathy, I have never had to deal with a turkey that large! I think Ann is on to something though. And I have done that, cook the turkey ahead. Great way to do it. This year, just DH and I m and we have a small turkey breast. We are going to store today and get everything else. Need potatoes and some fresh veggies.
Katherine, our son, DIL. and my sis and her DH used to be vegetarians for about 25 years, so always had to have two main dishes at TG and ?Christmas! Now they all live far way and they have all stopped being vegetarians.
Melody, I wish some relatives lived around here that I could take a dish and small family and all spread our.
Got to go check out challenges and prize thread!

Kandie - when I was reading your story about the upset, illiterate customer (he must be illiterate since he didn't read the signs), at first I thought you were at YOUR house and he saw your truck which really had me concerned! What happened was bad enough but I'm thankful it wasn't your home! That does sound stressful! I'm sorry the drugs aren't working.
Sharon - I used to eat meat but when mad cow was in the news I decided I didn't need to eat meat any longer. I wasn't a big meat eater anyway.
I'm with you, I wish we had relatives nearby to share the holiday with. My brother and sister-in-law who live about 15 minutes away are headed to Oregon tomorrow to share Thanksgiving with my SIL's family as is their custom. We'll be with them for Christmas though. I'm just not in the mood for Thanksgiving plus this house has a SMALL oven, you can't even put two 9 x 13 pans side by side on the same shelf in this oven. But we are having a friend from church over to join us for Thanksgiving. He is otherwise alone. There is just his mom and him and she is in Idaho so he is joining us. So I'm on for all the cooking....
I'm so happy that today is my last day of work for this week. Then I can stay home and hang out with my girlies. Woo hoo!
Victoria, for some reason I can’t pull up your dragon. :(
Thanksgiving day many years ago was when DH’s mother passed, and then around the same time about five years ago his oldest brother passed, and Thanksgiving was the last time I saw my mom 20 years ago before she passed from a heart attack, so neither he nor I am especially fond of the time period. He gets very emotional, and I just want to arrive, say hello, eat, and go home, so we make a pair. This year we are having a meal by ourselves but calling everyone to wish them blessings on that day, and then we’ll watch football and nap.
