Default Dumb question, but how do you do this.....

You know when you read a post and it says click here, my gosh how the heck do you do that instead of the whole link? I'm sure it's so incredibly easy but I've never know how the heck to do this! HELP- someone enlighten this non-computer geek please! :-D

When you type "here", highlight it and then click on the earth with two chain links on it. In the window that pops up, enter the whole link and that is it. Oh, you have to be in "quote", full "reply to thread" window, not "quick reply". HTH.

First, you need to use the advanced reply screen and not the quick reply box. There will be a row of button as the top, and as Happyinker stated, use the world button (add hyperlink) and it will ask you to paste/type your url into the space. It will then paste it into the body of the reply box, but with a highlighted section. The highlighted text is the text you replace with what you want the link to "say". Hope that's clear...

the same process will work where ever, as long as there is the 'world and chain' icon. i hope that makes sense cause i am not really tech savvy either!

and your jumbo clips are adorable BTW!

I hope you've found my tutorial helpful!

It works here in our Forums and most forums. I need to write a Tutorial for adding those "hyperlinks" in the Gallery, too! The difference with the Gallery is that those lil' extras (the globe with the link) don't show up when posting in the Gallery. In the meantime, here's how to do it in the Gallery:

To add a link you'll have to use 'HTML' language and do the following:
 1. Copy your link
 2. Type [*url=]
 3. Then paste your link before the last square bracket like so: [*url=pasteyourlink]
 4. Type the text which you want everyone to see
 5. Type:

It will look like this:
[*url=http://mylink.com]Check this out

IMPORTANT: When you do this in the gallery you MUST remove the * from this part-----> [*url=]
I had to include it here so that you can see the 'hidden' HTML language that's behind every link.

I hope this helps!

Cris

PS: It wasn't a "dumb" question at all! It would've been "dumb" for you not to have asked! ;)

Linda, did you try it following this tutorial. It's great being able to see each step one at a time.
