I should also mention that you can add other elements to embossing powder to make fun stuff -- ground spices, such as cinnamon & curry powder (also makes your card smell good), coffee grounds, glitter (the embossing powder keeps it contained) -- you get the picture. You don't want to add a lot, because you still want the embossing powder to do its work. I'm not sure of the ratio, so I would say less is better. And anything will emboss better if your embossing ink pad (versamark or whatever) is well inked.
I've used all of those items. Basically anything that you can pulverize into a powder, even chunky, can be mixed with EP and embossed. Other things can be embedded by embossing a layer, adding a 'foreign' substance, adding more EP, and heating carefully again.
Sawdust, fibers (thread), beads, mica flakes, etc. UTEE is probably better for anything that is a bit more chunky, but you'll probably want to use clear, so your items will show through.
Haha, Jan. I forward the video. Grab the end of the bar that is moving with your cursor, and pull it forward. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of people making videos that have no clue how make it professional. i.e. the ones that let the cat or the baby sit on the table with them, or can't find what they are working with, or forgot some main item and have to go hunt for it...
Thanks Melody for the info and tips. Wow you are a mine of information.

I think frantage is just thick chunkier embossing powder named after Fran from stampendous maybe? I slept horribly last night. Feeling yucky now....
Kathy, sending some good vibes your way! It's tough when you don't sleep well and then, add in stress. Lots of air hugs headed your way! I hate when that darn "anxiety bug" rears it's ugly head! M-wahhhh!

Jan, it was foggy here this morning but has burned off now and we have full on sun. Almost went to freezing overnight.
Kathy, you are right. Frantage is named after Fran at Stampendous. I think it is a completely different affect when heat embossing as opposed to regular ep. You have to heat it from underneath for one thing but all the chunks of different elements in it are so cool. Their reg. ep does not have the word Frantage on them.
Sorry you did not sleep well. Hate when that happens.
I feel compelled, lol, to give the recipe for one peanut butter cup:
Put 2 TBSP peanut butter in a microwave safe dish
Microwave for 15 seconds and then stir in 1 TBSP of powdered sugar
Even out the mixture.
Sprinkle on 2 TBSP of chocolate chips and microwave up to 90 seconds to melt the chocolate
Then spread the chocolate out, covering the surface of the peanut butter.
Freeze about 15 mins. and then dig in.
If anyone tries this, report back here, lol..
Ann-enjoy your day with those grandaughters!
Melody, did you have a lasagne ready to go from the freezer? Thanks for the inspiring advice of adding things to ep.!
Sharon, fun picture at H.L. You are so fortunate to get to a H.L. We don't have them in Canada. Nor JoAnn's.
Good morning! Lots of chat since I checked in yesterday evening. Happy November. I woke up feeling blue, I think because of things going on with the girls. DD2 is driving to her friend's house today. This will be her longest solo drive and she's a little nervous so that makes me a little nervous. DD1 has a friend in town but she isn't going to get to see her. She says that is part of growing up but I think she is trying to not let me know how much it bothers her.
I should get busy with all the things I didn't get done on Friday. I need to find a charity to take the Honda we had for DD1 to drive. DH has decided it is a lost cause. So now we need to find another vehicle too.
Melody, does embossing powder go bad? I had someone give me their embossing powder (there was some green in there). I have only ever purchased clear, white, black, and several metallic colors and use it semi-regularly. But I wonder about that powder that was given to me. I should just play with it.
Glad you had a nice birthday, Jan.
Jayne, we are like you in the clock department. Definitely rely on our phones for the most accurate time. I've been thinking about getting rid of the clock in the bedroom since I'm covering it at night and not usually in there during the day.
I have definitely been known to ink my stamp with Versamark and then into whatever color of SU ink I want, then using clear embossing powder to get perfectly matched ink color.
Jan, if the videos are on Youtube, not only do I forward the video, I also speed up the playback speed. Most videos I watch at 1.5 times. Some of the people talk so slowly.
Sending huge hugs your way, Kathy!
What a cute photo, Sharon. Yes, Kandie has a stroller for Dusty. So cute. I told DD1 she needs a stroller for Honey.
Have fun with the grandkids, Ann! Are they working on their own house or your house?
Yum to lasagne, that is one of DD2's favorite foods.
Yes, Gracie, chat seems to be feast or famine sometimes.
You feel compelled, Shirl? You enabler for those who love peanut butter cups!
Melody you made me smile thinking about putting curry powder into EP, my son would think I’d been crafting in the Indian restaurant across the road, his favourite restaurant
No, the lasagna was homemade -- the hamburger was precooked and frozen, and I happened to be thawing it when DH said that DD wanted lasagna. I was going to make something else with it, but no big deal. My lasagna recipe does not precook the noodles, which makes it easy. You mix the meat and spaghetti sauce with 1/4 cup water. Spread meat sauce on the bottom of pan, add a layer of noodles, meat sauce, ricotta, repeat noodles, sauce, ricotta, then top with mozzarella, cover with foil and bake 1 hour at 350. If you want the recipe, I can attach it.
Catherine, embossing powder is just ground up plastic, (UTEE is bigger chunks), so no it doesn't go bad. There are some that are a mixture of colors, blue enamelware (mix of blue and white), green enamelware (mix of green and white), confetti (mix of white with some pastel colors), christmas (mix of red and green), probably some others. Or maybe someone just mixed up the leftovers from pouring on more than one color.
However, with that being said, it is possible for some metallics to lose their sheen. I have gold EP that is old, no longer bright shiny gold, more like antique gold, which is really disappointing, since I had a large bottle of it.
Watching another Peter Poophead (I mean popoff!) Commercial! Another lady drank the miracle water and got $50, 000 in the mail! He should be ashamed of himself, claiming his miracle water will bring you money. I believe in miracles, but not from a man who claims it's HIS water that brings the miracle!
I also add extra Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and dried parsley. I do not measure these, but a guess would be 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, 1/4-1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 2 tablespoons dried parsley.
Jan, lasagna noodles are large, flat pasta (about 10" long and a bit over 2" wide, but thin. Ruffled along the long edges. I don't think they are used for anything but lasagna.
I feel like it is the middle of the night, but it is not! My DD1 is getting up early, and my schedule is all off..... : )
We are having fun with the baby and enjoying the afternoon sun too. We will head home Thursday. I am anxious to enjoy the Falliday challenges. DD1 has Tuesday off work, so we may go on a hike through the Black Canyon (deeper than the Grand Canyon).
I had a fun time creating with a Gelli Plate and have a dark card ready to load- may do it tonight if I can keep my eyes open.....
Thanks for the recipe Melody. I’m making that tomorrow. I have all the ingredients. I’ve made one before with ricotta cheese and was yummy. Jan, we also call them lasagne sheets and the noodles are the spaghetti but they don’t call them noodles here lol.
Shelly, sounds fun. Looking forward to seeing you back though...enjoy

Good morning! It is a lovely and sunny morning here. We managed to turn in our ballots yesterday so that is done. We had mail in ballots but wanted to drop them off rather than put them in the mail. Yes, I did it this way before this year too. I do think, in general, USPS does a great job at what they do but, every once in a while, something will get lost and I don't want it to be my ballot!
I was not as productive yesterday as I should have been. But I did start working on more cards for Sharing Parents, the organization that supports families who have lost a baby. I don't know if you remember, but I went and made cards with them a few years ago and Kandie sent me a bunch of die cuts that said mom or mother for those cards. Anyway, I've had the paper pads we purchased for that day and I have been trying to use them up making more cards for them to use. My friend, Sharon, who works with them (and lost her only son at the end of her pregnancy) said that they have had higher baby losses this year, probably due to higher levels of stress.
Yum to homemade lasagne, Melody. I have a vegan version that I make in the instant pot that even DD2 loves. In fact, she requested it for her birthday.
Shirl, I'm with you, I want things to be easy to make! If they are too much trouble, I don't make them or it takes years between times making it. The spiral apple bread I made for the pastors is a bit of a pain to make (in my opinion) so the last time I made it was 2014!
Kathy, I hope you are feeling better today.
Shelly, I agree, it feels like the middle of the night so early now. I saw someone say they wished that they would adjust the time to be half hour between Daylight Savings and Standard times and then just leave it there! I second that idea!
I'm sure you are really enjoying that adorable baby!
We took out eleven ballestrades today and then took them to the amenities site, luckily the young man helped unload them as they were a little too heavy for me, then I grouted in the drain pipe and tiled around it, the young man came to measure up for the BBQ roof, it’s a strange shape so he was scratching his head wondering how to do it but he says he should be able to start in about ten days.
It was foggy again this morning, very strange , very quiet on the seafront too with the lockdown and two cafes have closed for winter already , I guess with no one around it’s not worth opening
Hi Shelly, great to hear from you and that you are having a good time.
Melody, dh spied my printed copy of the lasagne recipe this morning and wondered how long to bake it?
Jan, back to working hard I see. Does the fog hang around? We did not get any this a.m. and it is another beautiful sunny day here. Then massive amounts of rain are supposed to happen on the next 3 days.
