We got our pumpkins. Girls were more interested in climbing the giant hay stack though. If you all go out to Baughers there are a few things I forgot about from the last time...
a) Try to go early
b) They have an area where you can make your own scarecrow
c) The hayride out to the field does cost $1/each and kids 3 and under are free
d) There is the bakery and market there as well so you can pick up any produce you want and yummy bakery
e) There is a playground with lots of stuff to climb on
f) It is still Apple Picking season so you can go from picking a bushel of apples to picking a pumpkin if you like
g) There a booths for food set up. We got a yummy funnel cake, but it was definitely a mom and pop operation.
h) If going over to the petting farm bring a few small bags with you so you can put the feed in it, making it easier to carry. Also bring quarters to buy the feed.
i) The market and even to pay for the pumpkins takes debit, but for everything else TAKE CASH
Oh I look forward to seeing the pictures on your blog of the girls and the day at the pumpkin patch! Sounds like a great family outing, perfect weather for it as well.
Well I just got back from spending the day with about a billion dogs!!! Oh my gosh, there were so many dogs of all kinds! LOTS of Chihuahuas! I think they are so popular because they are so portable! Quite a few Golden Retrievers, but of course none as handsome as my Rusty! LOL Anyway it was a super fun day and we raised a few $$ for the rescue. Now I'm pooped! I think I'll take a little nap!

Glad you had a great time! It was a beautiful day for it!!
It was a beautiful day for a ride too, we saw lots of riders out today!
No riding for me today- DH had to work and didn't get home until after 4. We did go out yesterday for a couple hours. What did you decide about your bike?
Kathi - Im glad you enjoyed your day w/GRREAT. When I do the Walk for Paws I feel like Im in dog heaven.
Yes, I definitely felt like I was in dog heaven today! I'm going to try very hard to get to your event on the 24th! I'll get the details about where it is as the day gets closer!

I didn't renew the tags but haven't made any moves towards selling yet. I may wait until spring when it's a better time to sell. By then I may change my mind!
I hope everyone has a great Monday. I am already tired. The furry beast had an upset stomach, so he needed to go for a walk at 3am. Better than the alternative, for sure! ...I needed some cards for my 2nd grade team today. Am using a bunch from the August SBS - they are perfect. (Am sad to give them away, though!!) LOL!!! IIII knoooow, that is the point of making them!!! Gotta go put the laundry in the dryer and unload the dishwasher, now that it is done running. No wonder I am tired, before I even get to work!?

Awww.. I hope your baby is feeling better. No wonder you're tired, up at 3 a.m. for a walk! I hate to part with my cards too but you're right, that's why we make them, to make others happy!
Hi Maryland ladies. I'll be in the Baltimore area Friday-Saturday. Any special spot you'd suggest for dinner or "must-dos" while we are visiting? We're staying in the Inner Harbor area.
Of course, part of the day will be spent waiting for DH to finish the marathon.

I would recommend the National Aquarium, and Miss Shirleys Cafe. They are both right there at the Harbor area in walking distance. Miss Shirley's is open for breakfast too. The whole harbor area is fun. Enjoy your stay!

the only problem we ever had with Little Italy was the traffic congestion and the impossibility of ever reaching our restaurant, let alone trying to find a parking space within ten blocks. I REFUSE to eat in Baltimore. The harbor has some decent places though.
Where in CNY are you from? I escaped Syracuse many moons ago.
Oh I am sooo behind LOL I survived my 2 birthday parties in 2 days....Kimme Baugher's sounds Awesome!!! I think I will drag the kids there Saturday! The two pumpkins I grabbed at the commissary has "mrs.spider" moving in so that should be interesting come carving time LOL...Happy Stamping all!!
well crap. I will probably not be in the same country next year... I was soo looking forward to making the next Amish trip. wahhhh....
have you guys heard anymore? Bad part about Military we all move away - although after meeting some people tied to hubby's shop looks like I may as well dig in for the long haul here
Good morning. Trying to clean up the mess from the BBQ. We had eleven all together, it was fantastic. The food was yummy. Still soaking the grates from the smokers.they are greasy.
Also trying to get my house work finished, a few loads of laundry and of course puppies always need lovin.
I hope you are all doing well. The Air Force kid has my nickers in bunches, he is struggling with some fraud on his checking account and its driving the mom nuts.
Off to clean up and get some much needed stamping time in.
wanna come clean my house LOL with all the birthday planning it is a mess!!! still have streamers up from yesterday even hahahaha...guess what my focus is this week!

Not everyone moves away (says the person who's dh has been stationed here since '96.) When he got to his current Unit (in 98 ) there was an "old timer" who took DH under his wing, and he retired from the Unit with 14 years. It was unprecedented and it looked like dh might be able to match it or beat it if he stayed with the organization. At the time we thought, No Way. Now, they are taking younger soldiers into the group and some of the guys that were there when dh started are still there and not yet retired (have stayed in past 20.) We have watched people meet, get married, have kids and get divorced all while staying put. Kids that used to run around the softball fields are now in college. It's not typical Army life, but it's the only life we know at this point. Dh is just now coming to the realization that he is not one of the kids in the Unit any more, but now he is one of the Old Guys and it's a little weird for him.

I'm planning to go on foot. It doesn't look to be much more than a mile from our hotel.
Curious what is hubby's first name? Mike left a "unit" he was running the MAC at the tie in 1998, he returned again in 2001 (July) and was acting 1st SGT. He retired in 2005 after pretty much spending most of his army career in only four bases.
Ask him if he knew a Mike Rodger. That would be a small world!
*Waving Hello*, I officially need to read all the way back to post #3486.
We hit the pumpkin patch too this weekend. The weather was just too pretty. If you don't mind the trip, Gaver Tree Farm, Mt. Airy is also a nice one. It's $5 (under 2 free) to get into the fall festival and then you pay for your pumpkin. They take debit too. They have a nice petting zoo and giant slides etc. They also have a corn maze (which my 11 yo loves).
No stamping this weekend, I spent time with my sister who came up from NC. I did finish my "homework" Loretta. My Mom snatched it right off the table so my picture is a quick snap. I'll post it later to my blog.
What a great week full of fun, family, delicious food and great scenery. We drove home via the scenic route - Skyline Drive. We stopped at nearly every overlook to check out the landscape which was breathtaking. The leaves were just beginning to change. We saw lots of deer, way too many groundhogs and fortunately no bears! We did have a cat that jumped up on our deck and took a liking to DH (who had a very soft spot and fed it and gave it some loving while he was out there with his coffee and book). Kitty came each day to say good morning and to welcomed us 'home' later on.
DD's dinner was amazing! I was so impressed that 5 college kids could pull off such a professional event. Of course they had about 50 other students helping. All their hard work really showed. She is certainly glad the big event is over - now to do all the wrap up, writing evaluations, reports, finalizing reimbursements etc. She had already warned us with her experience and knowledge in the banquet area, that when she gets married she will be setting the bar high with her expectations and will be very high maintenance as far as the reception goes (YIKES!)
We had fun visiting with both DDs but wishing DS could have come too. We get to see everyone (including DS!) again this coming weekend at DH's nephew's wedding!
Off to unpack and get resettled in. Hope to get some shaving cream and try out the challenge soon. Looks like messy fun!
Good afternoon girls! We spent the weekend camping up in Amish Country for the campground's 40th anniversary. They had a pig roast and each site had to bring a dish/dessert to share. It was a lot of fun.
Yes, Baughers is the place near me. We are possibly going this weekend if the weather is good. There is also Spring Meadow Farms in Upperco. We are going there for the girls first school field trip.
I can remember visiting both places on a regular basis when I lived in Reisterstown. Miss having something like those close by.
Here is my VERY FIRST EVER POST TO THE WCMD challenges. It is also my Shaving Cream card. Enjoy and looking forward to seeing what you make!Attachment 163114
Great card Jane! I love the backdrop for your card too.
Glad you finished your first challenge (It was an altered post it holder) hope you will share the blog addy and pic with all of us, it is so much fun to alter stuff.
Too funny, agree about the congestion in little italy, but that "new" garage makes parking a lot easier. I am partial to Sabatino'o, and then of course Vacarro's bakery for dessert.
I too escaped Syracuse (in 1981), by graduating from the University. I loved it up there. But nurses were not making very much money in CNY when I graduated, so I came to Baltimore instead. Love it here too. Still bleed Orange though. Just Orange and Purple now.

Welcome home Jeaneen! I love Skyline Drive and the BlueRidge Parkway, especially on the motorcycle! I'm so glad you had such good weather for your trip and that you had such a good time with your family! Hmmm...do I see a cat in your future?
You may have told us but us old folks' memories are not so good, but what was the dinner being held to commemorate?
(singing)" it's a small world after all", my DH confirmed working with your DH at the "unit" when I told him "hey is his wife Kim?" He said yes, and remembered you had red hair,
what a considence!
Everyone, I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day. We ate left over bbq and it was delicious!
Linda, if you decide to go visit the aquarium, I highly suggest buying tickets in advance, especially if you want to see a show. Last trip down, it was a four hour wait after you got tickets, and they didn't tell you that until you had been in line for over an hour.
We left the line (kids and I) and went promptly and told every one at the back the situation. Then complained to the folks working the ticket booth and insisted they make an announcement. About 15 min later they finally made an announcement, the line disappeared quickly after that.
April, where arethose promiced pictures. Did you like altering something for the first time? I was so excite to share a few things with you! I'm working on one of the new weekly inkling projects where they use the pillow box die to make a little bucket. Have you guys seen that many of these now offer Beate in video tutorial? Awesome!

DD is a Hospitality Management Major. Her senior capstone project is a formal theme dinner for 100-200 people (they had 165). They (the group of 5 girls) spent all last spring researching and choosing a theme, then planning a menu, the reception, decor, entertainment, budgeting etc. This semester they carried it out. I *got* to make 185 invites/response cards, 180 menus and thank yous. If you wish to check out the event here's the website -- http://sites.google.com/site/venetia...emedinner/Home Soon, pictures of the event will be posted there too. I did take photos of the food as presented and a few others before my camera batteries died...
As for us getting a cat, probably no. We do like to travel and I don't think it is fair to be leaving a pet behind/boarding/farming out while we are gone as most places we go we can't have pets accompanying us. If that was not the case, we most likely would have a BIG dog. DH had a husky mix when we met, but she was stolen from him before we got married. In the mean time, we have offered to watch out 'grandpuppy' who is 1/2 retriever (body and face), 1/4 husky (curly tail) and 1/4 (legs) shepherd for our older DD and SIL.
Hey gang, is any one else having issues with SCS? I tried to get into the forum, went to let Kimmee know my DH knows her DH and the computer told me that the link was broken. It took about 1/2 an hour before I could get back in and repost.
Is there anything going on I should know about? Seems to be happing frequently to me, at first I wondered if it was because I'm using DH's computer and am still 'signed in' on my lap top (which kiddo is using for home work), really strange.

Yes, Loretta- I had trouble a little while ago getting onto SCS. Things seem to be fine now, though...
WooHoo! DH just came home from the store. He even remembered to bring me some shaving cream! We only had shaving gel here at the house. I hope that later on tonight I can play...
