Hi Chris,
Yes you can totally download freebies off the web......score!!! If you scroll back closer to the beginning, you'll see where this was explained (I can do it, but I can't explain it!)...all I know is: it works!!!

Ugh.........Shutterfly is like watching paint dry........takes forever and is hard to see if your pics are blurry or good or what. BUY the CM software.....seriously, you'll be glad you did! SO EASY!

Kirsten........from what I can see, brushes are similar to using an embellishment/frame and making it more opaque within SBC+. Like you, I haven't ran out of fun new things on SBC+ so am not too worried about missing out on "brushes"! :-)

Thanks girls!!!
I have in fact DL'd the software. I've spent the last couple hours importing some of the digital freebies I have found in my internet travels. It really seems easy so far... but I've not actually tried to do anything yet!!!
Can't wait to get going! Funny thing is I talked my mom out of getting this over the weekend cuz I thought it was silly to spend $$$ on something you could do for free. I think the deal maker was being able to import all the awesome goodies that are out there...
Well congrats! I hope you love it. Be sure to post up some of the layouts you come up with! Tip: If you want to post in the gallery, in SBC+ hit "save pages as" - choose jpeg, specify the page you want to post (not 'all') and save to a folder on your 'puter.
have fun!

If you want a great digital package, I've had amazing results with Heritage Makers. It's an internet based program that has over 35,000 items to work with and over 450 templates. I just love it but it is causing me to loose sleep because I don't get to do it till my day is done which is after 10 pm and then I'm on it till like 1:00 am!!! yawn...
I am making calendars for my family for Christmas - it is so cool and quick. They print your stuff for you as well and its cheap!!!
I have CM as well and really like that program as it's easy and quick - the templates are great but not as embellished as Heritage Makers. I really like CM's Photo Manager too.
A tip I was given to share when doing your digital stuff was when you download all your pictures...and you are totally overwhelmed with how many you have, pick and choose your favorites that you actually want to scrapbook digitally with and put them in a favorites folder, that way you have all your pics in one spot and all your pics in another folder just waiting to be digitized! It was way less overwhelming when I did it that way.
Also, regular CD or DVD dont have the long storage capability as ARCHIVAL GOLD cds do. Apparently the regular disks only have a life span of a couple years before your data can become compromised. Also dont write on your disks with a regular sharpie as they have a chemical (alcohol I think) that can compromise your CD over time. There are proper Archival CD pens out there.
Ive been taking some digital courses (can u tell...) so hit me with whatever questions you have and maybe I can pick my instructors brain!
This digital is too much fun!

Using the 12x12 option for the first time. Someone explain to me why I can't do shadows in 12x12 album, but totally used it in 8x10 album. The 12x12 layout/options are totally different?!! What???

I have heard this too. If anybody is looking for a sourc eof Archival Gold CD's you can get them from www.cmphotocenter.com and you have the option of custom designing the CD front with your own pics.
I actually have a page listed on cm gallery. All of the elements in the free templates on cm are also able to be saved into my content. I saved the swirls from the graduation then changed the color to match my page.
Also able to save my content to a disk to share with someone else.
I can't wait to order this!!! DH gave me the go ahead. Should I order the StoryBook Creator as a download or with the CD?
Woo hoo for you!!
There are two advantages to downloading - you don't have to wait and you don't pay for shipping! (and you save the associated shipping fuel, materials and so on...)
If your computer crashes and you lose the program you simply call the company. You'd download it again and use your original access code.
So save your access codes for EVERYTHING you download from CM.
Good luck, have fun!

WAY yes. I've never had the patience for the Kodak/Shutterfly/drug-store online photo books. My pictures take forever to get IN there, they get lost, I can never fit them all in the way I want, the templates drive me crazy... I've never been able to complete one - I haven't had the patience.
I tried pse, but I couldn't figure it out. I'm sure if I took a class or spent a few months at it I'd get it, but it was so expensive that by the time my free trial ran out I was ok letting it go. I found the CM SBC+ well priced, super easy to use (almost self-explanitory) and yet I'm finding more and more creative/advanced options. The for-purchase kits are cheap and flexible, there are TONS of freebies (including page layouts, which I find most useful) and I can use almost any freebie or purchased digi bits out there.
The notable exception is "brushes" - I actually am not too clear on what they are, but I haven't figured out a way to use them in SBC+ Some people swear they are the best digi-thing since sliced bread, but I don't miss them yet.
hth
Just passing on the info I know about "brushes". Think of a brush as a rubber stamp. I have downloaded brushes that are words, placed them in my stuff under emblishments, an viola, a word 'stamped' that I can change the color, size and placement. How cool is that!! Just a note, I make sure that the brushes are a .png file. The .abr files I think are for PS/PSE.
Okay Gals, does anyone know how to import templates into SBC +. I am sure there is a way, but I am not sure where to put these. Thanks for any help.
Also, I just want to mention if you haven't seen the webinars by Dawn over at the CM website, go check them out. She has some really good tips, and some advance features to use with the program. WAY COOL!!
Noper - still haven't figured out how to convert a layered pse file to a jpeg, tiff or png files.
I haven't either. I can get the template in there, but the darn thing isn't layered anymore....maybe that's a feature not yet implemented...always areas to improve, right?
Okay gals, I had a brainstorm the other day. I remembered that I had all these Creative Keepsakes Creative Clips & Fonts cds. If you are not familiar with these, these discs had TT fonts and creative clips that you could use for embellishments or journaling blocks on scrapbook pages. Well, I just loaded the fonts to my fonts folder, opened SBC+, did a sample text box, and low and behold there are my fonts! Also, the creative clips are in .jpg format, so these could also be used in SBC+. I will have to play with those another day, but I am just so excited because I have all kinds of fonts at my fingertips and it didn't cost me anything more! WoooHooo!!
this is a great thread. I have a CM rep and she gave me her catalog and I was so intrigued with the software, but hesitant, I currently use elements but like everyone said before if you dont know how to use it well its a pain, buy the time I finish one page its hours because of the learning curve. I think everyone has talked me into getting this, and still learning my PSE so I can make my own papers and stuff, then load them into SB.. The possiblities are endless now.. Ok I will take the plundge!
=)
Is there a trick to put your pictures into the "ploppers" or ready made pages that you have downloaded from other places? There is one plopper that no matter what I do-the picture just won't fit inside of it Before you ask, I do know how to resize it.
Thanks to this thread I was able to use all those downloads that I have and wanted to use!! You guys truly rock!
yeah, that's frustrating - I've resized the 'plopper' with some success but it doesn't always work. Try matting the photo and putting that behind the frame, or add another photo or embellishment or frame over the part of the plopper that isn't filled with a picture? hth

Ok, since this has been so helpful-another question on the CM software
Can you use the templates that you see on sites? If you can-can you explain how you use it in the CM software?
Thanks again-Ginny
In answer to your question, I have no answer to your question :( It's come up a couple of times and I haven't heard anything new. Quickpages yes, templates in layered pse formats, not so much. If anyone hears any new info, do chime in though!

I just figured this out and I'm so excited! I downloaded a plopper-I love those quick and easy, right? This one had a cool jagged edge border to it and then a slanted orange box over it as an additional layer. I thought, I'm never going to b able to get that picture in that box right. But I did-
I used the Layout tab and then used the "move to back" funtion which took my picture, jagged the edges and put it behind the orange slanted box. It fits perfectly!
I'm beyond excited and wanted to share with you what I found since you guys have been so generous with what you have found.

Thanks again for everything! I love this thread!
Help! What is a 'plopper' and where do I find them?
Also, I would love to see what you have done with the plopper.
I'm really disappointed that CM only made it for PCs--I'm a proud Mac loyalist. However, now I'm waiting for Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio, which will be for both platforms, and will incorporate SU! products digitally. Due out later this year...
I have a copyright question. I made some invitations using SBC+ in 4x6 size and sent them to cvs for processing. When I picked them up there was a note on the receipt to 'get released'. The employee just looked at the note and didn't know what to do. So, she did nothing. I paid for my prints and left.
Is this something that I will run into a lot? Or do I just have to get things processed thru CM??? Or, is there some kind of release online or something?

Wow, that seems kind of odd. Honestly, I don't really understand WHAT the copyright means with this software. I mean, sure I can't pretend I made the images made by CM, but the terms of use aren't really spelled out. Surely there would be no prohibition on PRINTING something you make on SBC+. That would, you know, defeat the purpose of it!

That's what I was thinking. When I uploaded it said something about containing embedded copyright info or something. I'm going to investigate this. I'll post back if I find anything out.
I've run into this at Walmart (a few years ago), they would not print my digital scrapbook pages. They insisted there were copyright infringments, I explained that I had made everything in Photoshop and that I had taken the photos myself, but they would not print them. I understand now that they have a release form of some sort, but I never went back after that incident.
Never had that problem except for Photopass from Disney. If it wasn't for a Photopass photographer checking out at the same time. I wouldn't have been able to get my pic. BTW mine problem was at a Wal-mart too. I don't get ANY pictures developed there anymore.

yeah, them and Sam's - they're sticklers!!!

Woohoo!!
And the printing-I have only tried to print at Costco and they have never said a peep! And so far I have had at least 40 pages printed! This is good to know, I didnt even know Walmart printed scrap pages-and my Sam's only prints them if you make them with their templates

I have been reading this thread with interest. I am a CM consultant but haven't really embraced the digi scrapping yet. I have played with my SB+ and love it.
I have invitations printed at Walgreens for my Get togethers. The invitation template is one made for this purpose by CM. I didn't have any problems at Walgreens.
I have had a few pages printed at www.scrapbooksplease.com. I was really pleased with the quality and fast processing.
Sunnysnowflake, Memory Manager is a separate program so you should have not problem using it with SU's program. I have a folder on my desktop called "photos for SB+" and export selected photos into it.
My goal this year is to really dig into the digiscrapping!
