I still can't make up my mind about the investment in SU's markers. I have multiple sets of LePlume's II, but they are really old and many are starting to dry out (like about fifteen years old!!). So, I need to decide what I want to replace them with. SU??? Tombow?? I know Copics are the rage and while I have some Prismacolor markers, I want water based markers for coloring stamps and pigment for journaling as they need to be safe to put in my scrapbooks too. Can anyone help me decide?? Thanks!!
I finally decided to get the SU markers after a year and 1/2 of debating. I wish I would have done it a long time ago! I love them! I'm not that good at watercoloring/blending, so I opted for the SU markers over the copics right now. Plus, I now have every SU color, even if I don't have the ink pad. HTH!!
I have them. I love them.
I like that they match all of my SU! paper and cardstock. I'd recommend them. Because with Copics and Prismas, you can't color directly on the stamps. With the SU! markers, you can. I think they're well worth the money. Plus, if they should start to get dry (which mine haven't), you can dampen the tips with reinkers or even your SU! pads.
I think they're worth the investment.

I have the stampin up markers and I love them!!! I have had mine for several years now and the new ones now have the tips just a bit different from the older ones but I still love them they are great if you are doing a small project that you want to take with you to work on in the car you can throw them in instead of the ink pads and have room for it all so you can work on the project. and you dont have to buy the whole big set at one time you can buy a few at a time if you want or just the colors you will need . Well I thought I needed them all at the same time so I got the whole bunch =) You will love them as you can see from how I feel and others do too. Have a great day ~~~bluegirl~~
I like a lot about the SU markers and kind of wish I had them all, but one thing I've had problems with is that in time (not a long time, but after some use), the ends kind of "fray," if that's the right word, and little fuzzy things are hanging off. I don't like that of course!
YES! They are awesome! I have had mine for 5 years and have had no problems with them drying out or fraying, and they get a lot of use! I love them! And the good thing is, if they do dry out, you can use a reinker to fill them. Also, if one did fray or anything else, it is easy to just replace it. I bought the whole set because I wanted the case. Makes storage easy!
I like being able to color stamps with SU markers to stamp (which you can not do with Copics). I like using the blender pen to pick up the color from something plastic that the marker has colored to "watercolor". I also like how the marker colors match the paper.
I bought mine a couple years ago when my demo offered to do a "marker club" Each month we would get a different color family of markers, and they were a bit cheaper this way. She would buy the entire set, and each of us 4 girls would get a different color family. The "hostess" for that month would get the case and the hostess benefits.
Kinda like a Stamper 10 group, but with markers.
I have them. I love them.

Its a basic necessity! I bought mine used for a good price about 8 years ago and keep updated with the new colors. Maybe put a post in the ISO thread for used markers for a better price. You never know someone may want to sell their markers.
Please excuse me for this quick thread hijack, but I wanted to know from those that own these markers if you can use them to emboss with?? Hijack over ;)
I love that they match the ink colors, but have had problems with mine drying out. I only have 4-5 and 2 of the fine tips won't write anymore. I've only had them about 1 year and store them horizontally with the caps tight. I was going to buy more, but am having second thoughts now.

Nope, they dry too fast.
To the OP--I bought the whole set of markers almost two years ago and have NEVER once regretted it. I especially love that I don't HAVE to have all the full size pads. Some colors I just don't like much but every now and then want to use. Voila--marker to the rescue! They are really a must have if you go with SU! paper. I had the Le Plume markers before and got these, gave away the Le Plume's and am happy I did.

I bought mine on ebay used about 1 1/2 years ago for $75, it was the set before SU changed the colors. I just updated my markers to include all the current colors. I love using them to multi-color stamps, coloring and even watercoloring using the aqua painter. I am using them more now.

What a great idea!
I am just starting to buy these. The match factor, and the fact you can use t hem on your stamps did it. I still plan to buy Copics as those are alcohol...
I have the whole set and use the all the time. I really like them, but I don't have any from other companies to compare with. I have the case which is nice to grab and go when attending crops and scraps. Good luck with your selection.
I'm a scrapbooker. I jumped in and bought the whole set about a year ago. I, too, noticed the spitting, and didn't like it. I purchased a few of the journaling pens before they were discontinued, and don't have any problem with them at all. In fact, some of my scrapbook pages where I journaled with the lighter dye-based markers have started to fade already. I did my research and found that the pigment ink is the ticket to journaling if you don't want it to fade. Now I wish I had purchased more of the true journaling pens. I do have some pigment ink Zig markers. Even though they don't match SU paper exactly, I use them because I do not want my hard work to disappear over the years!! It's something to think about. Do you make cards or scrapbook?

Actually, there was an article suggesting this in this month's SS. I haven't tried it out yet myself.
I do love my markers and a marker club is a great way to acquire them.
I vote "Yes!" When my LePlumes finally dried up, I splurged at got the SU markers. I like using them with my Dove blender to watercolor. (I also have all of the spots and refills.)

I love my markers...I have even sold most of my ink pads, not the in colors, and just use markers for inking up my stamps...saves a ton of money and space. I buy the spots if I need a certain larger one, but I have been stamping for almost 6 years and really only use the black ink pad now.
Another vote for getting the markers! If you get the whole set during SAB, you get the awesome case, plus you get a lot of free SAB sets! I haven't tried the copics, but people certainly make lovely creations with them!
Wow! Thanks for all the responses! I'm pretty sure that I would like them, but I guess its just the big gulp at the price that's causing the hesitation. It would definitely be nice to be able to use markers again!
:>
I've had mine for 5 years and had another set 9 years ago when I first started SU! and love them. My DD has my older set and she still uses them. Her other markers from Companies I won't name have since dried up and gotten thrown away.

If you buy the whole set anytime you'll get the case. I think what they were saying is it is an added bonus to be able to get a couple free stamp sets for buying the whole set at once. The whole set is $125 so you'd earn 2 SAB sets just for the markers.
I too bought the whole markers set just so I'd have the case and I use them all the time and have sold quite a few markers.
