Default Feb07 VSN Questions/ Concerns

Morning !!!
If you have any questions or last minute concerns about VSN you can ask away in this thread and someone will be able to answer.
The Master Challenge Thread will be posted soon so you can subscribe to it, just don't post in that thread.

My question is : Where will the challenges be listed? Where do I check every hour? I've printed out the Challenge time table and the list of things needed. I'm really confused by this, sorry.

The challenges will be posted in the Master Challenge thread. Each hour just refesh your screen and you will see the new challenge posted.
I don't have the Master thread posted yet

Joni, there was a question in the stalkers thread asking what the age limit is for the kids challenges. I checked the Help thread but didn't see it. Thanks!!

You can have multiple windows open - that will help easily switch between the chat threads for both the children and adult challenges. And once you read the challenge, you'll be off and creating

To do the multiple windows, just hold down the shift key and click on your link. This works in the forums and gallery and almost anywhere on the Internet.

We both post a weekly challenge so it does help us learn, but I personally still make mistakes!

Have a great time with VSN!

Rox:

I was wondering if you could help me with the time change thing. I live in Newfoundland, Canada and right now it is 4:08 here and I am not sure what time EST is in regard to us. We are an hour and a half ahead of Toronto.

Please advise if you can

My time zone is CST, or Central Standard and it is almost 2:00.

The zones are:

Pacific:
Mountain
Central
Eastern
Atlantic

You must be Atlantic time zone, which is an hour ahead of Eastern. So if it is 3:00 in New york, your time would be 4:00. And a challenge that started at 7:00 p.m. EST would be 8:00 p.m. Atlantic time. Does that make sense?

I really don't sit here all day, but I hear the email when it rings in and I have it up today so I for sure hear it.

Anyway here is a site with time zones - click here. Look in alphabetical order and find Detroit. This is the time zone the challenges will be posted in.

You are ahead of us, it's only coming up to 3:00 right now so you have four hours to go before VSN starts at EST - 7:00.

Actually, I looked on another site and it did list Newfoundland time as being not a one hour difference, but an hour and a half.

I will keep searching . . .

Okay, Newfoundland time zone is a half hour ahead of Atlantic time zone.

So tonight, when VSN starts at 7:00 p.m. EST, here are the following start times as I understand them:

Hawaii 2:00 p.m.
Alaska 3:00 p.m.
Pacific 4:00 p.m.
Mountain 5:00 p.m.
Central 6:00 p.m.
Eastern 7:00 p.m.
Atlantic 8:00 p.m.
Newfoundland 8:30 p.m.

And someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

My comment from earlier post:
I really don't sit here all day, but I hear the email
when it rings in and I have it up today so I for
sure hear it.
I hope that didn't sound snippy, what I mean is - I sure have spent a lot of time here today and didn't want you all to think I live on this computer all day and do nothing!
I am actually attempting to clean my stamp room before tonight.

So Karen, directing the question to me is just fine, I don't mind at all! We want you to have a great time with VSN and not miss out on anything.

You know I had no idea time zones were anything other than by hours. Who would have thought!

Just an FYI on the Saturday start times which Kurtis posted; there will be Kids challenges *1 hour* prior to those times.

If you're still unsure about the times, you can check out my post here.

Default Pearlex question

I got something called "moon dust" or "moon glow"' and a convention. Is that the same as Pearlex? Is it a powdery substance? Or is it like the H2O twinklers?

Yes Moon Glow and PX are the same, they are both a powdered mica. H2O's are totally different.

pearl ex is shimmery, powder like dust, so I think what you described would work, but not positive.

PearlEx is a very fine powder. I use it with VersaMark or heat embossing.

H2o is a solid cake that needs water, like you would use watercolors that we had in school.

I just got online so just a little late at the challenges. The "examples for inspiration" links in the VSN master thread are not working. I get an error message when I click on any of them. Aren't I supposed to be able to see them for inspiration?

Links are not working - can't get to the thread for the challenge cards.

Ditto to Stampin Granny.

I put my card in my gallery with the key word for the challenge - is that enough?

OK, use the chat thread links then...the master challenge thread had issues earlier tonight, so the links broke too. I'll notify the coordinators and they'll get it fixed.
