Survival kit for wannabe writer (author)?

So my best friend has just started a creative writing course (evening classes) so I thought it would be fun to make her a decorated paint can with a 'writer's survival kit'. Trouble is beyond a decorated notebook, pen and some tippex I'm having difficulty thinking up stuff to put in it. I've tried Googling but all I'm getting are actual books rather than quirky gift ideas.

So any suggestions you creative peeps can come up with would be really appreciated!

block of wood (writer's block), erasers, book of quotes, no-doze, white-out, thesaurus, (no writer can be without their thesaurus!!!)

Some of those squishy pen cushion things (so when you hold a pen it has a soft gripper on it). Bookmarks. A package of blank CD's for her computer (since most of us don't write our stuff on paper these days!). A clipboard maybe?

If she is a hot tea drinker an assortment of teas might be nice.
