Adhesive for crocheted/knitted embellies

What adhesive do you recommend to securely attach crocheted or knitted embellishments to a card? The liquid products I've tried seem to get absorbed, and glue dots don't always hold well.

You can also use wrapping paper (smaller sized patterns on the paper work best), tissue paper, thin foil from various sources like candy and flower shops, and thin/lightweight DP.
