Hi to all new and continuing scrappers!
I'm starting off the year with a revamp of my scrap space. painting the walls back to white with pops of black. I hope this will feel new and fresh. I want to have the freedom to change colors through accessories and displaying current projects.

Mary Pat, did you go to Gatlinburg? How did you like it?
We did. DH finally decided LAST MINUTE...he drives me NUTS! I loved the Smokie Mountains. The town was nice but TOO CROWDED...and I grew up in Philadelphia, so I know crowded :-) I would never again go during Christmas week but I'd love to go in the Spring or Fall. We found out afterward that DD1s friend has a Time Share there; we also have a pop-up camper so we most likely will go again in a couple of years.
My traveling bug has bit (it's been gone for a very long time) and I'm looking into a Florida trip for Spring Break, a cruise possibly in August, and NYC for next Thanksgiving. However, I'm thinking I might need to get a job to pay for it all ;-)

Oh, my oldest DD wants to got NYC so badly. We had the two principal dancers from NYC Ballet dance in our Nutcracker performances. Em got their autographs and a photo with them.
The Smoky Mtns are beautiful. I have some beautiful shots from the ariel tram of the mountains.
Mary_Pat, go to NYC for Christmas........it is not so crowded, at least it was not when we went a few years ago. Most everyone is off for the holiday so the city did not seem too crowded, but then I have not been there during a normal work week.
That trip was one of the best Christmas ever! AND
You will have great pictures to scrap, unless you loose your camera like I did!!:-( I think it was on the horse carrage trip through Central Park......
..... Thanks for all the WELCOME BACKS!!! It feels good to be back.... !
But I am still having a hard time finding my scrapping mojo, so I decided this year I was going to...
"START with the END in MIND!
Which means that I have challenged myself to start at the beginning of the Scrapping Challenges here on SCS and my goal is to work my way through the challenges by the end of the year.
ANYONE WANT TO JOIN ME?????
Here is my first challenge for myself that I will be working on today...
I will be combining SBSC01 & SBVC01.
That's a cool challenge to work on...I seem to be having enough of a challenge to just open up PSE and work on a page...let alone pick challenges to work from. But what you are doing is something like I like to do! I'm going to wait for mini-VSBN to start pages and in the meantime I want to look over some of the card challenges and make some cards for once. Stamped about 20 cards for Christmas (all the same) but haven't done any in earnest since August when I put together the last couple hundred or so for the church.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I am very excited about a new year! I ended 2010 with only 2 or 3 layouts per month Oct-Dec but I am ready to get with it for 2011!! I have started my son's "school" album and only have 3 layouts left in my Disney album, so I'm ready to get started!! Let's just hope I can stay awake long enough to get some mojo going! LOL
I'll say 5 layouts for January ;0
Thanks Lela!
Great pages Wendy. And to answer your question, No it's not Patti, My son likes My paper pages better Plus I bought two baby scrapbook albums to fill up

I thought about Christmas but after this winter's airline problems I thought twice about it. I originally wanted to take my daughter for her 16th birthday in September but my girls LOVE parades so rethought to Thanksgiving; plus, I believe the tree at Rockafeller Center should be up and lit..have to double check that one. I'm from Phila/NJ so I've been to NYC several times but have only gone for fun visits to friends not to much of the tourist (though our 8th grade trip was to the Statue of Liberty). I'm a city girl at heart but haven't been for decades!

Good Morning Friends.... My day yesterday turned out to be great all except for the part about me not getting to watch the kick-off to the "Biggest Loser" due to issues at work.
But life is all good and I have another day to play.... BBL!
SO I will be working on yesterday's challenge.... :}
off to bed... it's just about 5am and i'm debating if 1.5 hours is even worth it!!! and i'm thinking it is. got 3 pages done earlier today though and i will post pictures when i the sun comes up... ttyl
The pages being posted are wonderful. I STILL cannot post comments on the uploaded pages. SCS is helping me try to figure out what's happening. The new grandbaby is gorgeous Candy. Is she #18 grandbaby (wow) or is that how you number your pages? Wendy - I love your pages for your Christmas ornaments. They are so bright and gorgeous, I love the green bow! I "liked" them and will have to CASE next year. I've never thought of taking pictures of our home decorated.

I lived in New York State for my first 40 years and went on many class trips to Manhattan. My dad took us several times too -- but never for the Thanksgiving Parade. I'm content to watch that on TV! As an adult I've been there several times too, including during the Christmas season, and Rockefeller Center is lovely. There's a special magical feeling about being there when it's Christmas time!
You girls are making me feel guilty, already scrappin! I said 5 pages for Jan, and haven't started yet! What about this thurs challenge? If I do that, does it count in my goal?
Everyone's pages are so wonderful! You've got me wanting to scrap now! And that's a good thing! But, I haven't had a chance yet since the first of the year to even sit at my scrap desk, been busy every night. Hopefully I'll get a chance tonight, though, finally going to be home this evening for a change!
I do have a "technical" question, though? Do you count a 2 page layout as 1 or 2 pages? I know, I know....splitting hairs here, right?

Two! I think the general rule of thumb is each page that is 7 x 7 or larger is one page...I think two 6 x 6 are equivalent to one completed page...no one is the scrap police though so whatever works for you is fine :-)

Okay, thanks! That all sounds fair to me. And yeah, I'm glad there's no scrap police!

hooray - I can post comments once again. They think that since I have an apostrophe in my user name is why I can't post a quick reply. But I can do it the other way (I never actually realized there was a different way to post). I learn something new every day.

I believe when I listed my goals, I listed it as 4 double-layouts or something.

I would like to be in too! I will make a goal of 10 pages per month since I have not done a lot in the past year either! Thanks for letting me know of this thread!

That's wonderful, Deb! Isn't it amazing that a little thing like an apostrophe could cause so much trouble??? I'm glad you found a work-around!! So let's see...how many months back do you have to go to get your commenting up-to-date?? (har har!! :p)
Wow! 2011!
It's such a good feeling to arrive at something new. New Year, new promises, new fortune, new opportunity, new resolutions, new friends, new challenges. There are so many New Years challenges especially in our scrappy world.
Did you sign up for a year long challenge? Are you documenting this new year a special way. Have you made resolutions? Is there a word or statement you've chosen?
How about sharing whatever fun new way you have chosen to start your scrappy New year!
My challenge for 52 week Thursday challenge is do something new. There is always so much new info in the scrapbook world. A challenge that introduces us to something new each week is a great way to keep it new. New trends, colors, techniques, products, ideas- 52 weeks of learning something new.
I have started my New Year by scrapping my word (or words) for 2011. I chose the word CREATE. This year I plan to create everyday. My new statement is "create the life I want". I hope you join me each week as we share a fun new way to get scrappy.
