Mercy, it is ever so warm outside. I just went out to our screened-in porch and it is still pretty toasty outside. Its going to be warm night to try and sleep.
Hey, Jenni - I'm stuck in trying to figure out how to finish off my card. I pick it up every once in awhile and stare at thinking I'll come up with something brilliant. I've been working on some other stuff in the meantime. Hope you get some inspiration looking at the gallery.
How are the rest of you doing with your card design? Hope it is going together nicely for you.
Hi there,
The morning is half over and I am just getting around to dropping in for a minute. It is a strange day, a little cloudy out there. We are probably getting some of the smoke from the Shasta fires. That is not a good thing.
I started a card yesterday and set it aside to go fix dinner. I never got back to it. So I need to finish it and start another project. I've got a card swap to do that's due the 15th of September. I don't want to wait unitl the last minute.
I'm still waiting to hear from Cheryl Lawson, Crystal Lewis and Meg Strebe. Please contact me with your card choice that you are making for the swap and potluck dish. If you need my address to send your check, please let me know. This Saturday, the 15th, is the last day.
Just 2 more days until the cutoff for signups. Reply to post if you want to join the 8/29 swap or you can PM Candice96 informing her you'd like to be included. You will also need to tell either of us what holiday card you will be making and the potluck dish you will bring. Either of us can provide my address to send your check which is to be made out to me.
A post will be on the thread the first of next week with the number of card kits to make and directions to the Lamplighter Mobile Home Park.
I hope you guys are having a great day. WOW it really warmed up outside.
Hope everyone has a great weekend planned. I know I'll be creating most of the weekend. I need to get started on my mother in laws scrapbook. Thankfully I have about 90% of the pictures that I need, but that won't hold up the scrapbook. I just need to sit still long enough to "create" lol.
Do any of you scrapbook or would be interested in getting together and just working on our scrapbooks?
I want to plan a Friday evening or sometime on Saturday or Sunday for women to come over and work on our scrapbooks for a couple of hours.
Let me know if any of you are interested in something like this. I always enjoy doing this because it gives me time to sit down and "focus" on creating.
My husband and I attended a memorial service this morning. It was the third one since we got back from our vacation the middle of June. This gentleman was 93 years old. We knew both he and his wife, who is also deceased, for a lot of years.
What was exciting though is that the daughter of some other friends was there with her new infant son. My husband has known her since she was born and she is now a mother. One year for Christmas, when she was a youngster, my husband gave her a teddy bear and she would always remind him of that whenever we'd see her. I forgot to ask her about that this morning. Her baby was quite sick after he was born; he is doing much better now.
Last night I finished one of the swaps I signed up for, just need to get it in the mail. I have 4 more to do. These are fun.
Well, have a great weekend and hope you are finding time to stamp!
Good Evening Everyone. Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the swap, so if you know any fellow stampers, make sure they contact either myself or Betty.
I just got back from a cruise to Alaska and am now starting to panic because I haven't started by swap cards yet. Thankfully I work best under pressure!
I'm really looking forward to the 29th. It's been too long since I've had a chance to do any stamping and I'm anxious to get back into the groove!

Greetings all! What a busy time this has been for me since we last got together. Please put me down for Christmas and a salad. Thanks so much, Jo
Thanks Jo, disregard the last part of my PM. I didn't read this first. ) I'll put you down for a Christmas card and a salad. However, do let me know when you mail your check so I can be looking for it. Thanks again!!

My husband has talked about an Alaskan cruise for a long time. As much as I would love to see Alaska, I'm not sure of being on a boat. Its that fear of dealing with sea sickness! I'm sure you had a grand time. I also need to get busy with my swap cards too! I'm always last minute. See you soon, Karen.
Just wanted to mention, Sign Up for the 8/29 Shoebox Card Swap is officially closed. However, I will consider any last minute sign-ups if I receive a PM or post here on the thread between now and tomorrow (Monday) morning -- say by noon. I want to put a post out in the morning informing everyone of the number of kits to make. And in fairness to everyone and assuring that everyone has time to complete their kits, I don't want to extend this out too far. So if you are on the fence about coming, please make your decision ASAP. We still have room for more and would love to have you all join us!!

Tell Gerry I'll go with him lol jk. I thought for sure on my 1st cruise that I was going to have sea sickness and prepared for it, but it is amazing how level they keep the boat. I did notice that the 2 times I went down to the Mexican Rivera, I felt the boat moving more so on the way home (north) then I did on the way there (south). Not sure why that was, but I still didn't mind it.
Here is the information you have been waiting for:
We have a total of 16 people signed up. So you will make your sample card for the holiday you signed up for and 15 complete kits. If you need to refresh your memory, please read the first 3 posts. In case of some last minute signups, you might want to consider making a couple extra kits. We will only be assembling the kits at this swap so all stamping, cutting should already be done.
As an extra, and only if you wish to participate, you might want to consider making a card sample and kits for one of the other holidays. I particularly noticed that we have only 2 or 3 signups for Fall/Thanksgiving cards and Birthday cards. These kits would be done after we've completed all the other kits. Should you decide to participate in this extra project, please let Candice know sometime between the reading of this post and the day of the swap. You do not need to sign up for a particular holiday. This part of the swap is purely voluntary. I, personally will make a card sample and kits for a Fall/Thanksgiving card. Candice is happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. You can also contact me if you choose. Candice and I decided that she would keep track of this extra project.
Now for directions to the mobile home park. The name is Lamplighter Mobile Home Park and the address is 5040 Jackson Street, North Highlands, CA. It is located about a mile or so west of I-80, off of Madison Avenue. I would strongly suggest that you Google or Mapquest to get the directions from your home. Since you will come from different directions it will be less confusing for you.
Basically coming from the west (Woodland, Vacaville, Oroville) you would take I-80 towards Reno, exit the freeway at Madison Avenue. Stay in the first left turn lane and turn left onto Madison. Cross over the freeway and turn left at Jackson which will be the 4th traffic light after crossing over the freeway (freeway exit, Hillsdale, Harrison then Jackson). You will go past Trinity Church and an elementary school. There is a mini mart on the corner of Jackson. Proceed a half block to the park entrance on the left.
Coming from Elk Grove/Rancho Cordova - you could take Sunrise to Madison and turn left or Watt Avenue to Roseville Road which turns into Madison. You would make a right turn at Jackson.
My cell number is 802-2385 and I am happy to give you directions over the phone.
As you enter the park, there is a stop sign. The clubhouse is directly ahead. There is parking on all 4 sides of the clubhouse and pool. On the north side of the clubhouse, you will see 2 parking spaces marked "for mail pickup". Please do not park in those 2 spaces.
Some of you have already started your card sample and kits, some of us are still trying to figure out what we are going to do. I am really looking forward to seeing all of you and seeing your creations.
I neglected to mention in my earlier post -- it would be a good thing to include a business card in each of your kits. If you don't have business cards, then a return address label or your name written on a slip of paper. That way we will all know who made each card and thank each person individually.
Just a thought! Thank you!
I'm trying to work at my craft table and keep getting distracted!

Betty - I can't find Candace's email or phone so I'll let you know that I would be happy to bring an extra kit for Fall/Thanksgiving and Birthday. I need to clarify - all stamping and punching or cutting needs to be already done - is that correct. Thanks for doing this. I am so excited to meet everyone.

Hi Bonnie, I see Candice answered your question and yes, everything is to be done and we are just going to be assembling the cards. Thanks for preparing the extra cards. I can't wait to see what you come up with. See you soon!
