Assuming that good stamps, paper and ink are a given, I love my Cuttlebug, Score Buddy and Crop-a-dile, but could create without them. What I really can't do without:
Fiskers paper trimmer
Good, pointy, sharp scissors
Scotch double-sided tape
Prisma Pencils
Good paper cutter
Double sided tape
I also find tracing paper and graphite sheet better than any stamp positioner. Stamp image onto tracing paper place it over the desired stmp area and you can repair any miss stamped area. Much easier than stamp positioner. Tracing paper and graphite paper available at Michael's and other craft stores or art stores.

Betty, would you please explain this again? I'm intrigued, but I don't understand how it works.
Say you stamped an image on your card stock and the image did not stamp right. Stamp the same image onto tracing paper. Now place stamped tracing over your mistake. Line it up right. Hold in position with your hand carefully slip the graphite paper between the tracing paper and the mistake image and take a sharp pen and trace on tracing paper over the mistake area. Remove the tracing paper and the graphite you should have a repaired image. If not repeat the process. You might want to use ink over the stamped area but it should be ok on its own. Any more problems with this method please feel fine contacting me. Hope I could be of help.

This would only work for black or blue stamped images, right? Or have they come out with many-colored tracing paper. I understand your process, but think I would certainly move the tracing paper sliding the flimsy carbon paper beneath. I really find the stamp positioner an ingenious device that works really well for me.
Don't use carbon paper, use graphite paper. Carbon paper smears. Yes, I agree positioner works on redoing colored image repair. I am just giving another way to accomplish the same task.
Answer on the use of tracing paper. Stamp image onto tracing paper, center stamped tracing paper over the unsuccessful stamped image, hold in place, slip graphite paper between damaged stamp image and tracing paper image, trace over tracing paper to repair the damaged stamped image. Hope this helps.

My tool love affairs are:
ATG (pink)
Small sharp scissors
Cordless vacuum cleaner
(all three of these took me by surprise as to how much I love them).
Base materials I have to have :
Art Spectrum Draw and Wash paper
Stazon Ink
Inktense pencils
My ideal combination for colouring. If I go away with limited luggage, I often take the Draw and wash pad with a bunch of images already stamped and my tin of pencils with a fine paint brush.
and to dress it up...
Walnut Distress Ink
Bling
Ribbon
OK, OK, I know I cheated.
