but I would recommend getting at Michaels with a 40 or 50% off coupon. ATG stands for Advanced Tape Glider. It's like a Glue Glider or Tombo Mono Adhesive but much more on a roll and much less expensive. Glue Glider (if I remember correctly - refills are ~ $7-8 ea? and 13 yards. ATG refills are 36 yards and you can get 2/$9.99 regular priced at Michaels, so with 40% coupon 2/$6 - 72 yards for less than the price of 13. Plus, the stuff sticks -seriously - I've had problems with Tombo coming unstuck after less than a year. It's a bit on the large side, but once you use it a couple times, you will wonder how you lived without it! Same with putting in a refill - a little confusing at first, but do it once or twice and you'll never look back!
This is tough..though I love my Cuttlebug, I think these are my top three...
1. A great paper cutter, I finally got one I love after about 12 years.
2. Double sided tape.
3. Inkadinkado's wavy edge acrylic blocks....easiest to hold on to.

I do love my cuttlebug & punches, but for the beginner looking to get started inexpensively I broke it down by my 2 favorite types of stamping (so I can list 3 different fav tools :> for each type ).
Embossing:
1. Pigment ink & embossing powder(s)
2. Embossing heat tool
3. tray mate/snapping tray to collect powder
Optional I also like: Embossing buddy/magic (the fabric pouch w/ powder that makes sure static, oil from hands, etc dont allow powder to stick anywhere but where stamped image is).
Watercolor stamps:
1. pigment ink (for stamping outline stamps)
2. watercolor pencils
3. water brush
Optional I also like: Ranger 15x18 craft inkssentials craft sheet (to put inks on & add water to paint on ink colors).
ATG for the red and yellow versions (which are for industrial use): this acronym stands for Adhesive Transfer Gun. The 3M website says "Covered gears minimize applicator jams." I'm not sure this statement covers the pink version, which is about half price of the red and yellow versions.
ATG for the pink version (which is geared more toward the home crafter): this acronym stands for Advanced Tape Glider.

I have absolutely no remorse for purchasing the following because I used them on every card I make:
1. Genesis paper trimmer
2. Scor-Pal
3. Teflon bone folder

Use on every card:
Fiskars rotary paper cutter,
ScorePal
ATG
3 Odd tools I use:
Toothpicks! These are my pick-me-ups and placement tools. I keep a few with dried Tombo multi-glue tiny dobs of glue on the end and they place tiny pieces right where I want them! I once cut three toothpicks in a row at the same level, at their thickest and inked the rough edges with TH Distress inks and made an scratchy inked distressed background. Turned out great!
Lego Thing-a-ma-jig
My husband's metal business card for stenciling a label! Traced around it and cut it out! Also makes a great small straight edge.

Oh Oh I just thought of something I can't do without.. a pokey tool, lol..what is it called? sharper than a stylus but like one... I use it for everything little dabs of glue, transfering rhinestones, holding down little bits.. it is always beside me in my craftroom!

1) I have these GREAT long very sharp tweezers that I end up using on every project. I misplace them in my clutter on a regular basis and get frantic looking for them!
2) I use my Big shot for EVERY project. I love it for its sturdiness and width and versatility.
3) Toss up between Spellbinders and embossing folders

I can't live without my toothpicks either. I have a cute little pink toothpick holder on my desk so I can get my toothpicks quickly and keep my desk looking stylish. !
1. Brown Memento ink
2. Duck adhesive
3. Open imaged stamps to color
I absolutely love the duck adhesive also, but can no longer find refills. Any suggestions where to find the refills? I have checked all of the local office supply stores, Michael's, JoAnnes, Hobby Lobby, and craft areas of the big box stores in my area - Walmart, Meijers.
Fun discussion!
OK, since inks/stamps/cardstock are a given (and there are way too many great ones for almost anyone to choose a "favorite"), my go-to favorite items are:
1. DIMENSIONALS - these were a revelation to me when I wandered into this world about 10 years ago. They make things pop and layers look good, and just plain make what we do look so special - they take our creations to a different *dimension* !!!
2. HEAVY-DUTY GUILLOTINE-TYPE PAPER CUTTER - It's big, it's bulky, it needs a permanent home of its own in my crafting room, but it is totally worth the real estate and the price. Always cuts evenly, cuts layers and thick stuff, is super-precise, and never needs sharpening. I've had it for about 8 years and its still as good as the day I got it.
3. SU's PAPER SNIPS - so comfortable and sharp and precise. Makes cutting out detailed images a breeze, and I like to do a lot of that!

What is an ATG. No-one has use the actual words, so I am at a loss. I'm sure it is something so simple I will kick myself when I hear what it is !!!
An ATG is a adhesive gun, kind of like the big ones you use for taping up packing boxes, but it applies double sided adhesive tape just like the Tombow snails do, and it comes in a smaller pink version designed just for crafters. People like them because a roll of ATG tape lasts much longer than the snail cartriges. Therefore you don't spend as much as you do with having to replace the snail cartridges so frequently.
Thank you, Adfish.
I have never owned one of those particular items. I have so many other types of glue I use for a lot of different craft projects... Hard to name the most used- probably Sookwang tape.

I love the Sookwang tape! So much easier to use than the red line/sticky strip tape.
