Yipee! This has been so annoying to me. To view a lovely card and yet have no info on it or be pointed towards some blog (which I also never visit). Anyway, yipee!! ;)
I haven't uploaded anything lately so I don't know if SCS is already doing this, but seeing as very few of the gallery goers come into the forums and read this thread, how about putting a note about this new policy on the upload page? That way it hits every uploader. One could also put a comment at the top of the gallery page like was done to remind about No-Upload Sundays, but I think if possible the announcement on the upload page would be more effective. Just a thought!

I need to step up and clarify the intent of my OP, as well as apologize.
While I am an SCS Team Member, it is not my role nor my place to set policy.I deeply regret that my OP sounded as such and have since gone back to modify.
It IS my role and my responsibility to support whatever policies have been installed by the site owner, and to not allow my own personal stances on any matter supercede that. I deeply regret that in this instance, *I*, and I alone, failed to live up to that responsibility.
Our gallery (and forum) moderators are already stretched to the limits in the countless hours they volunteer and it was presumptuous, and, dare I say it, *bossy* of me to issue statements that suggested they would be "on the hunt" for TOS violations in the galleries/forums, and subsequently editing or deleting them.
It is my genuine hope that my plea for help and support, be taken for what it should have been communicated as: a heartfelt desire for us as a community, to keep our our galleries, and our forums in tune with what they are provided for.
I offer my humble apologies and hope you will accept.

You never have to apologize! Holy Cow! You are one of the people who always states thing with class and grace. You OP was clear and makes perfect sense. Let's all post the recipe, the supplies and who makes the stamps. Then, when we see something we love, it's there! We can get busy and create! Great idea, kind post, not to worry. Go brew another cuppa' "*wink," look out onto the snowy, beautiful, fantasy island you live on and thrill us once again with one of your goreous creations! We love you!!!! You never do anything inappropriate or misleading. I almost spewed my cuppa' when I read your message! LOL
Again, love you!

LOL - I must be a little clueless... I didn't even notice it was a problem.
I know on my last Daisy Day project I just posted the link to my blog because I gave step by step instructions there and I figured anyone interested could just go there to take a look.
I didn't realize this was such a faux pas!

I have a question about the sites guidelines. I know Sarah is offering a 20% discount on all SU! purchases for December on her blog. Is it acceptable to SCS for demos to do this and promote their blog in the signature line.
Sarah I totally think your fabulous and hope you are not offended by my post. I am just asking because it is the first time I have seen a blogger offer a discount on their blog and not their SU! website and am curious about SCS's perspective on this.

As per the Splitcoast TOS, the blog link in Sarah's signature is perfectly fine because it does not contain any promotional or commercial language whatsoever:

Blogs are an entirely separate entity; Bloggers own and control the content of their blogs and, of course, can do whatever they like with their blogs/at their blogs, etc.

Our galleries are available for use completely free of charge to every member here at the SCS community.
Please, when you upload a project, include basic recipe information for all of our members.
You may accompany that information with a simple, non-promotional link to your blog.
If you'd like to increase exposure to your blog or website, please consider purchasing an ad, as per Daven's homepage discussion:
This doesn't merely apply to the SCS Forums, but the SCS Galleries as well!!!
EDITED: We would greatly appreciate members including basic recipe info, which may be accompanied by a simple link, as opposed to only listing explicit directives that require our members to visit blogs in order to obtain any details about your project.
Thank you for supporting the Splitcoaststampers community!
Thanks Julie, quite frankly I find it annoying to see an Awesome card or other creation, and then there is NO CLUE of how it was made. but yet there is a link to go to a person's blog. It isn't that I do not like blogs, but I rather just get my info from one place. that place is SCS!
Also I have found that while a lot of creative people here will answer questions that are posted WITHIN comments on their creations, the majority will not. An example is several explosion boxes, scrapbook boxes whatever they are called---I see MANY of these in the gallery...I have yet to see any with a link to a template or instructions or whatever. I have posted the question to several of these gals for help on how to make these...NO response...furthermore 2 people have pmed me saying they "saw that I asked the question" and wanted to know if I had been given the instructions or template....NO, I haven't. they are are staying in touch with me, in case anyone starts to answer our questions...but It has been over a month since the last time I asked. Quite frankly, I NO LONGER even comment on these creations, in a smallish way of boycotting the "non-sharers" for lack of a better term.
I always give credit if I case or borrow, I always give instructions if I make something that needs instructions.
I thank you again Julie for posting this, it is important!

You don't have to remove a link to your blog (that's in your siggy) if it's *just* a link IE "so and so's blog" regardless of what's in the blog itself...
Now if your link said "Get 20% off your order!!!!" etc then YES you'd have to remove it.
I'm *pretty* sure I've got at least that much right!

why not copy and paste the directions from your blog to the description box on the upload?

I'm kinda bad about looking back at entries in my gallery since I don't upload new stuff all that often. If I notice that someone has asked a question, I do try to answer it!

I'll tackle this one.
I bet those people never see the questions. Did you PM them?
Even if they had clicked "notify me" when they first uploaded the card - there have been two occasions when those were all switched "OFF." (Site changes were going on and it happened.) I don't have a huge gallery so I went in and fixed mine, but it was a royal pain, I had to do them one card at a time. So some people might not even know they aren't receiving notices.
Also, not everyone clicks that anyway.
The next recommendation I have is to go to the Techniques forum or the Resources page and try to get an answer.

These boxes? Here is a link for "scrapbook in a box" directions.

Thanks to both of you for the support ; I was referring to removing the post in the blog..not the link in my signature... I decided not remove it; but I did edit it slightly.
To be honest....knowing how things sometimes "roll" around here:rolleyes: I was a little worried when I saw Tracy's post... not at all offended (because I knew I wasn't violating the TOS and I also know Tracy is a very nice gal)... but worried someone might think I was attempting to promote myself... and having read the occasional comment about demos who "do this or that"; well, I just didn't want to be accused of using SCS to further my business. My sales in December are typically non-existant; and I do use my blog to promote my teeny-tiny business; and count on SCS readers to occasionally click on my signature link and take a looksee; but mainly it is a tool I use to communicate with my existing customers; not to gain new customers. In fact; most of my subscribers are other demos! I just hope anyone who reads the posts above understands that I hold the utmost respect for the TOS here at SCS and would never take advantage of this resource.

Well, i figured everyone reads the comments on their gallery creations or why else would there be comments? so no, I did not pm them.
I did not "look up" directions, as i do not know what they are called since I have seen them named at least 3 things.
Not that I'm hugely overwhelmed with comments  , but I do not receive emails notifying me of when I receive a comment. I do that on purpose. I'm trying to stamp and learn to stamp better and share and not feel bad when i don't get comments. (It's a work in progress).
So, every once in a while I'll look at my own gallery to see if there are any comments and of course I read them and respond if there are questions. But, there may be others like me who don't see the comments right away.

I'll echo what Wrose said and add some perspective.
I get a lot of questions about things I post. I usually try to go through the comments in my gallery at least once a week, by sorting them by "Last Comment Posted" and "Descending" so I can see the latest ones. PM'ing me is a more reliable way of getting a response, though. Then the PM sits in my inbox until I deal with it...a comment can easily get buried and forgotten. And my mind is a piece of swiss cheese on somedays...things get lost in the holes quite often!
Even then...I get 3 or 4 PM's every week asking for more information or links to directions and sometimes I read them just as I'm leaving and I don't remember to get back to it until a day or two later. And sometimes  I don't remember to get back to it at all. If you're gentle with me when you PM me to remind me, then I'll probably get right on it.
But I have to also say, people who post in galleries all have lives and if they can't get back to you right away, it's not because they don't care or they are just plain mean. They just may not have the time right now.
And even when I do have directions posted in a resource forum, I still get PM's from people who don't understand how or can't get the file downloaded. I spend some time every week or so emailing things to these folks.
I do like to share, which is why I usually try to make templates to my more complicated projects, but all of this takes time, posting them takes time, then emailing them to the folks who can't get them to download all takes time. And sometimes...I just don't have the extra time. So when you PM me asking me for something...keep in mind that I may not get back to you immediately and if you are polite when asking, that helps too. I've had a few requests that were more like demands.
Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. I went to my personal albums and added the 'recipes' where needed. Sorry ;) I would suggest a modification to the uploads to the personal albums to also include the template for the recipe instructions. It would definitely serve as a reminder to add.
