Default Question for Stand-up Stampers...

I generally stand to stamp because I am all over the room when I am creating a card. However, my flooring is just old poplar planks (old farmhouse) probably not even with subflooring and it's starting to take a toll on my back. So, I'm thinking of putting in new flooring. My question is: what type of flooring might some of you other stand-up stampers suggest? I really don't think I want carpeting because of all the little paper pieces that seem to collect on the floor, but I'm not real sure that just laying down a vinyl laminate or even a hardwood is going to solve my problem. I've thought about getting some of those rubber mats to stand on, but I'm afraid I would just trip over it. I am open to any and all suggestions and so appreciate anyone taking the time to help me out with ideas.

Thanking you in advance!
Julia

What about those mats hairdressers use? They stand all day!

Yeah, I would agree. Some type of mat that is made to be stood on for long periods of time. I used to work at Starbucks and if I went a shift without the padded mat, I could really feel it in my back and feet the next day. Maybe try somewhere like Home Depot or a local hardware store. HTH

This is going to sound a little crazy, but I make sure I am wearing Teva or Croc flip flops when I work in my craft room and I keep a little stool under my work table to keep one foot elevated at different times. I work at a smallish moveable island so I walk around my room a lot gathering my tools.

I stand and have linoleum. I usually am bare foot. Doesn't sound very attractive when you type it does it?
My problem isn't my feet, its my neck, and back from leaning forward.

Standing here, too, on Pergo flooring. So just thin layer between the concrete and the flooring, separated by a vapor layer. Usually in flip flops. I've considered those same mats, but since my area in is the family room I've resisted because of their looks. I would think twice about replacing what must be a very cool flooring.

I hurt my knee a couple weeks ago and really felt it when I was standing to stamp too (tile floors). I grabbed a few of my son's foam playmat squares to stand on and that has worked for the time being - enough that my knee is much better. But I'll be looking for a better option - I've searched for "anti-fatigue" mats online and found some but the ones hairdressers use are pretty pricey.

We have a carpet, but it is low looped, almost like a floor. I find it as easy as my floor to keep clean, the new swiffer carpet flicker works great on it, it is almost industrial or office type carpet. I also wear birkenstocks or flipflops while working!

The mats are probably the easiest and least expensive fix. Another really good one is just a plain ol' footstool. You know, the plastic Rubbermaid kind? Keep one foot up on the footstool while you are standing. Alternate feet. You should notice a difference in how your back feels, particularly.

I used to stamp standing all the time, until the MS got too bad and I can't stand anywhere for long anymore. Stop to rest and stretch when you think of it, too.

I stand... On concrete! I need a mat too! It's a good idea... plus it would catch all the glitter!
