Question Price for handmade cards????

I was wondering what is the going price for a single handmade stamped card:

basic

embossed

I was asked by my co-worker if I would make some cards, but I don't want to over charge them and I don't want to under charge.

Terrolyn,

there is thread here on SCS that talks about people selling their creations at craft fairs. It has tons of good info and some info on how to price your cards.

I don't sell my creations, but I attend a craft fair just about every month and there have been ladies that sold cards and they asked $ 2.50 for some cards.

Here is the link to the thread

Forums at Splitcoaststampers

It is a very large thread so I hope you find what you are looking for.

I sell mine...the most expensive is $3.25...but that's for the ones that have a lot of bling or whatever. You should base it off how much the materials are and how long it takes you to make it. I know some people charge up to 5$ per card and they sell tons...so I guess it depends on your customer. Make sure to charge enough to cover your costs! And remember, it's always easier to lower your prices than raise them. :-)

Hello Neighbor (smile)

Thanks for the info. I don't sell my cards, because I really enjoy making them for my family and friend. I thought I better check into this matter if I decided to do this for them. Again thanks.

I also don't sell my creations, but since the girls at work asked if I would do this, I thought I would check into it. I checked out the site and glanced at the thread. There is so much info. THANKS A LOT FOR REPLYING

I sell mine in a local salon, lots of layers and not skimpy on the embellishments, with an envelope and packaged in a clear cellophane envie for $5 each or $12 for 3. I can't keep them stocked! Don't undercharge for your talents, ladies!

I like Shannon, also sell my cards for $5 each, and they sell very well. If the customer orders quite a lot, I give them a deal. For instance, I just had a customer order 15 cards, I charged her $60.00 (normally $5.00, so I discounted the cards to $4.00).

good luck!

I have sold cards to my co-workers.
For a very, very simple card...VERY SIMPLE---$2.50
The price goes up depending on difficulty and time spent....I charged $4.5o some cards at valentines day...and one of the gals gave me more...she said that she couldn't have bought anything comparable at the store for that money and she threw in a little extra....I agree...do not undersell yourself!!

I keep a box at work full of cards. My coworkers "shop" in my box whenever they need a card. I charge $3 a card. I based it on how much *I* would spend on a card. It seems to work fine. I keep all of them at $3 because it's simpler for me that way.

$5 each is an easy sale, $10 is not uncommon. I was told I'm saving the card buyer TIME, GAS, and PARKING - Each of these in downtown Seattle could end up making your "cheap" Hallmark card end up costing $20 or more! So my cards are a great bargain! LOL

I charge between $2 and $3.50 depending on the bling factor. I live in a very rural area and $2 is a fair price.

I found this on ebay..and I still can't believe that someone will pay this much for ONE card...am I missing something? All her cards sell over 10.00 a card.

Default Great thread

I was asked by someone to make them a pack of thank you cards, 10 in all, and it is taking me longer then I thought (one reason is that I had to create a craft area this weekend), and am not sure how much to charge her for the cards. Is it fair to charge for time when you are "creating?" It takes me sometimes a long time to come up with the idea, but once I have the idea then I can use it over and over.

I am still not sure how much I am going to charge her per card, am going to try to make the last three very simple so my time is cut way down, the first seven have been killers!

hmm, maybe I should charge more . . . my coworker orders her Christmas cards from me and I ask $2 each (with envelopes). If I were to put them in a craft fair, I would definitely ask more unless they were in a set.
