Default cards looking so much alike

Do you think cards are starting to look a lot alike with many of us using nesties, cuttlebug stuff, etc.? I know mine are and it is not from casing. Just unconsciously absorbing what I see and then using it in the card. And of course, following a trend, like scallops and more scallops. I always thought many of the cards in the gallery a few years back looked so different because it was more 'stampy, stampy' cards where you really had to use your imagination with a background stamp, less DP.

I still appreciate all the cards I see in the gallery, but when I find something very unique, it is so refreshing. It's like, "whoa! where did this come from". And I am finding it is usually a very simple card. Which are always the hardest to make.

It will be exciting to see what the galleries look like in 2 years time. You would think every tool/design/sketch would have been exhausted by then, but I am betting NOT!

Default The challenges

sort of create a huge group of cards that either have the same layout, color or design, maybe that is why so many seem to be alike.

I try to be a unique as I can, at the same time I am always looking at everyones work, and truthfully am amazed at the talent so many on this site have.

Sometimes what it takes is to just sit down and start playing with paper, a stamp, colors, whatever you have in front of you, to create that unique style.

I don't think they are. It seems to me that every time I look in the Splitcoast gallery or on stampers' blogs I find something totally new and exciting to try.
Of course, if we all try the new exciting technique, then there will be a lot of similar items out there. BUT, as soon as that happens some creative person always comes up with yet another new idea.
