Bluebear, I just showed your card to DH and he said, "Wow! That's a victorian nightmare!"
I've been thinking about your card and I've decided that if you set up a table at truck stops, you could make a lot of money selling this card. They always have things with roses in, on, under, around and on top of them in truck stops.
 Here are my humble submissions to the shrine of ugliness. Even the fact that these were my beginning stamper/cardmaker days is no defense, because... <ahem>... ... one of the "hats" I wear at work is web designer. Being a pro didn't save me from my follies.
One is called, "Look, Ma, I have curvy scissors and I can tear paper!"
It's stamp twin is... "Watercolor Garden Speckle Sneeze."
The other card is... well, I made it for a friend based on a short period story she was writing. I just call it "Oh, ow!"
Avert your eyes, ladies! And Bluebear... "Could I 'ave been a contenduh?"
That never was a favorite set for me- do you think it's just ugly rubbah?
I'd like to declare Bluebear the winner and award her the prize....What is the prize, stargirl? Maybe everyone RAK her with a card that we don't consider our ugliest, or should we have everyone send her a card that we made with tin foil. This could be a new SCS challenge!
Oh my, Illinois Marge...you should warn viewers to don sunglasses before enlarging your thumbnail. I almost got whiplash from throwing my head back from the glare.
I thought the background looked like a picnic-gone-wrong...mustard and mayo squirted all over everywhere!
What SUPER brave ladies you are! Thanks for the great read/looksie.
Now I'm getting paranoid! I'm in my first ever swap...and still in the process of creating my "masterpieces." Now I'm scared to send them out! What if they suck?
I actually just wanted to see what the craft ink would look like embossed...so I slapped that on there. Then I realized I needed a thank you card for my bf's mom...so I gave it to her. Am I going to hell now?
What do you guys think about doing an ANTI-VSN? I think it would be hilarious. We could get a "shopping list" of the most odd stamping products ever...and try our hardest to make the ugliest cards. We could even have a requirement that everyone has to drink a box of wine (or two bottles of Boone's! ) before starting!

I haven't been able to figure out how to make anything look good with it. Sure, I'll blame it on the rubbah! I don't make ugly cards, I just use ugly stamps! But... then... oh, there's that other little too-many-vellum-layers card in my trio...

I'm there! I'll even make the margaritas!

Wow, what a fun thread. I was looking for some of the cards I made way back when.. but they are on the other computer and I had to move it from one room to another upstairs and didn't get it hooked back up to the cable so I can view it on this computer ~ so I looked through what I had one this one. I made this card last October.. I don't know what I was thinking and after I finished it, I wished I hadn't even started on it. EEK!!!

I definitely think we should all send her cards made with foil!!!!

Oh, wow, you're right it does! French's yellow mustard, not even the good stuff from Grey Poupon.
Actually it was an attempt at the rubber cement technique. Sometimes I get technique-happy and have all these backgrounds that are just begging to morph into a card. That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it!
I just found this thread and I am LMAO!!!!!!! You guys are cracking me up....I definitely vote for Blue Bear's foil card but Star Girl's glitter extravaganze is a pretty close runner up. This is hilarious!

OK. My awards are going in categories, because there is WAYYYYY too much ugliness here and they ALL deserve an award! LOL
For need of sunglasses, IllinoisMarge - runnerup teenstamper
The card that will haunt me later - Blue Baby Hands! EEK! (Sorry, I don't remember whose it was now!)
And the category that started it all.... Over-the-top-use-of-bling to the point of MAXIMUM GAUDINESS: I gotta go with Stargirl on this one. Sorry, Bluebear, but while it WILL keep aliens from controlling the minds of EVERYONE in your household, at least the colors work and for a 45 minute challenge, I think it was a good effort..... unlike my entry in the same category which I hope I removed from my gallery..... yuck..... oh, no... it's still there... it's on page 4 of my gallery, along with a couple other scary entries for March VSN. i do NOT work well under time constraints! LOL!

Hey I remember making cards like this! No more watercolor gardens for me!
I just looked at all the *ugly* cards, and while I had to grab my sunglasses for teenstamper's neon pink card, Bluebear's tin foil card rocks!! Totally cracks me up everytime I look at it!
Okay, I don't care how cute the golden retriever is, this is not a winner, but it's in. It's like you were suddenly possessed by Mrs. Grossman!! You were goin' along just fine, had a right nice card, then BAM!! out comes a STICKER???? A STICKER???
I don't want to dis the card or the patriotic theme, but that's what got me about the card too, was the strong contrast between the smacked bg and the photorealistic (kinda psycho yet still kinda confused-looking) dog just got me.
Here are my two entries, made with a shortage of time and trying to use up that #$^! blue value paper pack from Mikes. Some very kind folks commented on them, but honest the only reason they are in my gallery is so my DH can see what 'we' gave his dad and my niece for cards. That electric turquoise is a frig to use, btw.
Can we talk about the optical illusion of your icon now? *LoL*
ROFL. I've been telling folks that it's an actual pumpkin that's been carved (www.masterpiecepumpkins.com) but now you've spilled the beans! I was just proud of how much I toned up!

Oh, you HAVE toned up! And you've almost found the right shade of self-tanning lotion too...!!

I love this challenge! It reminded me of when I first started stamping, I had so many ideas going through my head I tried them all on one card. My creative disasters on on a boat from Japan so I can't compete, but Blue bear you definatly have the trophy in my eyes. I will never look at tin foil the same again.
You guys are cracking me up. I haven't had this much fun in a while. I do think Bluebear gets the winning entry. That rose is hilarious.
Teenstamper, thanks for clearing up a mystery for me. It must have been you I've swapped with at convention and regionals. Your cards look awfully familiar. LOL
I feel much better now knowing I'm not the only one who makes ugly cards. Unfortunately I usually throw mine out.
Hey I remember making cards like this! No more watercolor gardens for me!
ROTFL it really is an ugly rubbah set! What were we thinking buying it?
Does anyone remember its real name? It's one of those early sets before I saw a need to put the set name label on the case, and even though I still have all my old catalogs, I can't find it. It's almost like it's so ashamed it even existed that it edited itself out! I know "Watercolor Garden" is another set entirely, but that's how I've come to think of it.
