You're welcome, though I know others are mad that I broke up the gloating party. It was linked on other websites too, so didn't see the point in not putting it here. If SU really wanted it to be a BIG secret, they would make their website where it is shown more secure. They know it always gets leaked and yet they let it continue. Seems like that is their intention.
I like the designer papers in that mini - great colors and prints.

I am not mad that you broke up the gloating party but you have gone against the policy of Stampin' Up! and have broken the copyright rule.
It is not their intention for it to get leaked, it is their intention to allow demonstrators to see it. I wouldn't want this privilege taken away.
It will be people like you who will spoil the BULK BUY for the rest of us too and your excuse will be that it was Stampin' Up!'s intention.
Well, SU used to organize all their catalogs in a totally different way, and the new way makes it hard for those of us who are on a limited budget. They're releasing THREE new catalogs within the space of 2 months, plus the SAB catalog. I have a very limited amount to spend (all of my SAB order money is coming from xmas/birthday), and I get irritated when they won't show me what they're coming out with so I can plan accordingly. If they're going to cluster bomb us with catalogs, the least they can do is show us what's in them so we can all order appropriately. If someone on a limited budget wants to reduce their other orders so they can afford all the stuff they really want, then good for them! So I appreciate the demos who are willing to link to the new catalogs. Like others have said, if SU really intended for this stuff to be super-secret, they would ensure that it's not leakable.
None of this affects me, though, because I didn't actually care for anything from the spring mini except maybe the fruit stamps and paper, but I can definitely live without those. :(
just wanted to clarify~ they are only releasing one catty. The current one went live January 2nd, the and the new occasions mini will not be live until March- several months later. SAB is a annual freebie they have (which hopefully will be an added bonus to those who are already planning on buying).
And SU! releases this to the demos so they can *try* and plan accordingly. This gives us an opportunity to pre-order sets ahead of time so we can plan workshops and make up samples.

I think the new mini was 'leaked' long before this - at leadership - and on purpose so demonstrators could get excited about it - and then they posted pictures on their blogs. There is very little that I saw in the actual mini that I hadn't already seen on on a demonstrator's blog. In a way, I do kind of think that this was SU's plan - they want it out there and people to be excited about it, so I'm not coming down hard on this one person for putting the link to the mini online. If SU really only wanted demonstrators to see it then the link wouldn't have worked for anyone not signed in to their site as a demonstrator - that's pretty basic security.
I agree with Les' Girl Besides I like to know a little ahead of time as I stated it helps me to plan my spending. I have in the past been frustrated with Stampin Up I buy a lot of product with one catty and then another comes out with items I would like only to have blown my budget! To my mind that would only drive me away eventually. This way I get to see stampin up's product before hand and make my own decisions vs another companies product. Usually, 9-10 times I return to SU.
Just to clarify, SAB dates are Feb. 1st thru Mar. 17th.
Right, SAB is Feb. 1 through Mar. 17, but the question was could she order from the Occasions mini and still earn SAB. The Occasions mini does not start until Mar. 1. The overlap between the two catties is Mar. 1 through Mar. 17.

I am for sure going to be ordering out of this one! There are two must haves for me and then some that are some great maybes--all in all a GREAT catty!
I know you were probably "naughty" to leak the link but there are so many cute things that I know I must start saving my money now so that I can buy them!

What I meant was that we had the Spring Preview, the 07-08 Spring/Summer, and the Occasions Mini, plus SAB. That's a lot of new product to wade through! Even though SAB products don't technically cost money, they can entice people to spend a little more to the get the free sets. Also, even though the Spring Preview is stuff that's in the 07-08 catalog, we also just had the holiday mini. I just know that for me, when I see them release one huge catalog and make my plan to spend from it, then they turn around and release another one right away with all new products that fit the same theme (namely, spring/summer), it looks like they're just trying to milk me for all I'm worth. I could rant longer about what I think of the new catalog format, but I won't hijack this thread any longer. Suffice it to say that this is only my perspective, which is inherently limited because I have almost NO money to spend on stamping stuff.
And I'm talking about customers planning and budgeting, not demos planning workshops and stuff like that.

Sorry about that! I just wanted to clarify in case anyone read your post without having first read the particular post to which you were responding. I completely misread. Time for a second cup of coffee! Bowing out now....
Sometimes the early releases of info makes it SEEM like it's all coming out at the same time when in actuality it is more spread out. Sale-A-Bration (starts Feb 1) is not a regular mini catalog so it really doesn't "count" ... it's a way to reward customers for their purchases!
I kind of long for the good old days when we only had ONE big catalog and then the minis spread out in between too... sorry for the frustration.
Thank you for contacting us regarding the Occasions Mini Catalog. We wish to
inform you that posting publications available on the Demonstrator Web Site on
blogs and other web sites is a violation of Stampin' Up! policy. If you have
information regarding demonstrators that are dispersing this information before
it is available to the public, please forward it so that we may further
investigate.
Again, thank you for your e-mail. Please feel free to contact us if you have
further questions or concerns. Have a great day!
Personally, I love allowing my customers to see things early... if SU doesn't want it to be leaked, don't put it out there. TAC aggravated me by NOT putting the fall supplement out until it was able to be ordered from by all. We didn't have a "sneak" preview.
In fact, giving the products to demos ensures we all get to see some of it. As others said, it happens with every catty.. no biggie. It gets me more psyched up to see it sooner! Then I can start saving! It will NOT affect my ordering- I have an order for Feb and now I have an order for March. I think most people will be the same way. If we waited.. we'd still get the same benefits so why wait (unless you're on a budget!)?

Someone pointed out that if they had encrypted the file (a very basic security capability), no one would be able to open it unless they had access to the demo site. I hope if you "turn" her into SU that you would have told her privately and not on this public forum.

That is a shame, that we the stamping public cannot see something that you wish us to Buy before it is suppose to be seen.
I'm not sure I understand your post. There are countless examples, but since someone already mentioned Nichole with Papertrey...we can't see what it is she wants us to buy until she wants us to see it....5 days before the release. It's not supposed to be seen until 5 days before, and does that make her way of marketing wrong? She has the stamps in hand sooner than that, but we're not 'supposed' to see them until the 10th of each month. Anyway. I'm talking in circles here...too tired. I think it's completely understandable, and not at all a shame that Stampin' Up! would wish to hold the minis for their demos who work for them in marketing the product to a great deal. Again, the reason SU posts the minis (we'll be getting a hard copy in the mail soon) is so Demos can plan ahead and preorder sets they need for workshops, stamp-a-stacks, etc. Did any of that make any sense?
To us they might as well be national secrets though, right? How much time do we spend on SCS when a new catty (one of the big ones) is released? We all eagerly await the posting of the 'messy desks.' LOL!

You assume that post was in response to something I sent in. FYI, I did not send anything in, this was a response I found on another thread, posted by someone else.
"Turn" her into SU! In your own words.....

If it's a violation, then why are demos from leadership posting photos on their blogs?
To me...it doesn't matter either way. I'm a hobby demo, and the fact that I give away my discount bothers some others. Oh well. I'm in this to have fun, share my hobby, and cover my expenses. If I choose not to make a profit off of it, then that's my choice.
As for cutting back on your February sales...the quarter runs January through March. I'm sure you'll meet your minimums regardless. Plus the mini counts towards SAB the first part of March. Maybe there were already ladies waiting for March 1st to place an order just for the release of the new mini.
Oh and I'm excited about the owl stamp! I've been longing for one!

If you are a demo who is torqued that the spring mini link has been leaked, you should write to SU! and tell them you wish they would make the mini catties inaccessible online to anyone other than demos; chastising people who post the links in public forums is not going to solve anything. Until SU! gets rid of their "do as I say, not as I do" attitude in this matter, the minis will continue to be leaked because anybody can find them on their site.

I just saw the mini and I am so excited! I am actually anxious to buy some of the sets. Lately I haven't been an SU fan so this is a great change..at least for me.
For some people it's about more than meeting minimums...for many demos (not myself, I'm a hobby demo too), being a demo is their job.
You would have to have a lot of sales to make turn it into a job along with a huge downline. LOL I can't imagine that! I can barely keep up with my blog with working 12 hour shifts. LOL

Me too. I try not to buy sets out of minis since I can only demo it for so long, but I'm in love with the owl.
The point of the response from SU! is to illustrate the fact that any demo posting a link on a public website or sharing a link prior to the official release date is in violation of our contract with SU.
Demos posted "sneak peeks" on their blogs but not the entire catalog! That is not a violation... it's not a copyright violation or a violation of our contract with SU as demos.
SU! shares the information with demos with the presumption that it is NOT shared with customers. Unfortunatley, some demos do just that ... and they may even tell their customers "please don't share this" but the customer may do so anyway thus putting their well meaning demonstrator at risk of losing her demonstrator status due to breach of contract. Some demos, like me, are hobby demos but some demos are supporting their family and the loss of their demo status would be devastating.
Nobody was saying they were turning anybody in! I don't believe that was the intention at all.
Hopefully that helps to clarify and offers some understanding of the ethical reasons behind demos NOT posting mini-catalogs prior to the release date.

Me too! I'm having a hard time whittling my order down to $100 (my budget). There's a LOT I want ... it's a great mini. Even better than the big catalog IMHO! I love it!

Yes, this is SU's stock reply, however, I would be very surprised it they ask SCS to delete the link. In the 3+ years I have been on SCS, many minis have been leaked ahead of time and SU has never done anything about it. Did you also report the many demo blogs that have info from the mini? Quite a few violators out there. (I'm not telling.)
It's doubtful SU would stop giving demos early access to the info for the purposes of pre-ordering just because it is continually leaked. This argument comes up every time the mini is leaked. SU knows that minis have been leaked for years and continue to be leaked - it's been reported many times. The very fact that SU does not change the access security for the minis suggests that they don't care if it is leaked. They are not naive, they have IT/computer techs that can easily take care of the security problem if they wanted to. It seems they just aren't really as concerned about it as some of the demos are.
Please do let us know if you get more info from SU regarding this issue or if they are just turning a blind eye as they have in the past. Their response will tell you what their real policy is.
FYI - I originally found the link posted on another stamp forum (www.stamp-shack.com), and just copied it over to here. Stamp Shack is a fairly new site (for me anyway) and while many of the members there probably know about SCS, perhaps not as many people here know about them. The original poster on Stamp Shack may have been a demo, I don't know.

Actually she is a demo...we have a thread going on the 'other side' regarding this and she gave some very valid reasons for posting the link at Stamp Shack.

Why don't you let "the little people" know what some of her reasons are from the "other side" since we don't have access?
Bottom line...why would SU crack down? It is free advertising...heck this whole site is free advertising for them because SU is the majority of what we talk about. It's marketing genius!

You're welcome, though I know others are mad that I broke up the gloating party.
I think the gloating party that surrounds all of the mini releases is absolutely hysterical. I mean, is your self esteem so low that you feel better about yourself because you get to see a craft catalog a few weeks sooner than others? *laugh* Geez.............
And people who get all huffy and report other demos for posting links crack me up even further. Get a job with the police force if you need to lay down the law that much!

Primarily that her customers would get upset with her when they saw that the link was available. She (as well as a lot of demos) would like the link to be secure, but we're not holding our breath on that one. In response to reporting demos...I wouldn't report a demo about posting a link. Far too often it's impossible to know a demo's name from a forum like this anyway. This is how many ebay sellers are getting away with selling current product. SU has caught a few, but clearly there are a lot of others who are getting away with it. Clearly my SCS name isn't too revealing...and just by putting "Katie" in my siggy line...there are probably a lot of demos with that name. I don't know if anyone was actually reported regarding the link posting. All the response from SU indicates is that someone was trying to figure out what the policy was.
By the way, it is a great mini, isn't it? There are almost too many pages full of great stuff...if that is even possible.
I looked at both the spring mini and the SAB through "Spoiler" threads and I am glad that I did. there are 2 stamp sets I like in SAB but nothing really grabbbed me for the mini. I am on a budget and a part of a monthly stamp club so this only affects my ordering by not worrying about trying to save for the mini but to spread my orders out for 2 months so I can get my 2 SAB sets. I see how this actually helps some people that love a lot fo the stuff. if anything they will order more the months these catalogs are available.
