I really want to be able to stamp regularly with a group of other SCS'ers. I am going to search you nearby stampers out in the get-it-together forum, but want some input from anyone who has monthly get-togethers or stamp clubs. I don't want it to be a situation where you have to place an order to come. I would just like to share techniques, projects, fun, chocolate, you know...all the essentials! I miss regular stampin buddies!
If you have a group like this going, could you share with me what kinds of things you do?
And if you are in my area and are already interested in getting together, you can speak up, too!
I'm in a club that tries to get together other month
We meet at a pizza place that has a meeting room. Everyone puts in $5-6 for the pizza and pop. We take turns being responsible for booking the room, ordering the pizza, and making sure the bill gets paid. One of our members is a SU demonstrator. Every other month she shows us a cool project and if we want to order something we can. We take turns "hosting" so everyone has a chance at the free hostess set. I understand the concern about not feeling the need to order. We get around that by saying if you don't order, that's fine, you just don't take a turn being a hostess.
I go to two each month! A friend who is a demo opens her home one Saturday afternoon per month. Everyone brings stuff to work on and she provides refreshments, with help from us. We get to use her stamp sets but bring our own consumables. We're welcome to place an order but there's absolutely no expectation to do so. I have another friend who does pretty much the same thing. I have friends who come to my house individually or a few at a time. It's a great way to get to use stamp sets I don't have! Good luck getting this going! It's so much fun to stamp with friends.

I'm in a stamping group with my MIL, SIL, and 3 of my SIL's co-workers. We get together every six weeks and "demo" a project. It's like a make 'n take I guess. Sometimes, if there's a holiday close to the date of our "meeting" we have a theme. We have a pot luck thing. We take turns having it at each others' homes. We do pay a certain amount at each meeting, but that money goes towards say the WCC. A name is drawn at the meeting and the name drawn gets the WCC. That's just an example.
We have a "stamp potluck" twice a month. By potluck I mean the hostess does not supply all the projects. Each of us bring all the supplies for everyone to make a copy of our sample cards. We take turns doing it each other's homes and in addition to her card, the hostess supplies baby wipes/cleaner and a snack of some sort. There are 6 of us currently so it takes all evening to make 6 cards. We have been doing this for years. You can use any brand of anything. It is nice because our SU demo is part of the club and this gives her a chance to use her stamps that are not SU for projects.
Stamp club meets at LSS for no charge (lots of goodwill, believe me, they aren't losing money on us !!) There are about 8 of us. We each take turns being the "Teacher". When it is our turn, we provide all of the supplies and cardstock to make 3 or 4 cards. We try to do some technique that we haven't done before. On at least one of the cards. All of the attendess pay the "teacher" $5 for supplies. Since it rotates, it doesn't really cost us anything. We also have an optional card swap that so far everyone has always participated in.
My turn to be "teacher" is coming up soon. I feel the pressure !!
None of this is SU related, none of us are Demo's. We do use a lot of SU though as most of us are hooked on it
Oh yeah, we all bring basic kit of our own scissors, adhesive, pop dots, etc
We have a group 10-12 regulars that meet monthly. We take turns hosting the "party" and our demo does 2 projects. We do not pay to go and do not have any minimum to order. When it is your turn to host you can invite anyone you want but always know approx. 8 ladies will show from the "coven" as we are affectionately called. The party total is around $300 -$400. So the hostess gets benifits, the demo has no problem with her quarterly mim. and most important we all get together and have a great time. Our next one is tomorrow and I am truly looking forward to it.
We've just started doing what we call card swaps in our neighborhood. We each make a card and make a kit so that everyone else can make the card. We go home with six to eight finished cards, depending on attendance. Very fun!
