This look just haunts me! I HAVE to know how to do it!
Since Flitting By is a jumbo wheel, I'm guessing that you would have to use an uninked Jumbo Cartridge and fill it up with Whisper White craft? Is that possible? Has anyone else done this? Do you think that's how this is done?

I cannot remember the name of the technique, but it is done with 2 different ink colors, one pink, the second in white. Wheel the pink one, then move over about 1/4 inch make sure that you are lined up with the images and wheel the white ink over top. I think that it is called shadow stamping or something like that.
So how do you get the white wheel, though? That's my question, actually. SU doesn't sell a white JUMBO cartridge. Can you make one with a craft ink refill and an empty jumbo cartridge? I've never used those empty cartridges.

Duh, I guess I should have read your post first. That is exactly how you do it, empty cartridge & craft reinker. Just make sure when you ink it up, you give it a few to soak in and then test it first. Add more ink if necessary. We did it at club before I joined SU, everyone went crazy over it.

There is a thread that talks about the faux dry embossing technique - along with tips and hints! One thing I remember is to be sure and watch how you replace the jumbo wheel in the holder (so that it is the same direction), and use the seam on the wheel to line things up.

If you have a craft white pad, you could always just roll your wheel directly on the pad a few times to ink it up. I have done this and it works fine for cards. If you needed the wheel to cover a large area, you would need the cartridge.
I did this at convention. There is a seam on the wheel to help you line it up. Put the seam on the edge of the paper. Just ink up the wheel real good in white ink. Then line the seam up again but slight off the edge to creat the dimensional look.
I hope I explained it. It makes sense in my head! ha ha

PS Thanks for the memory jogger - I totally forgot that technique
If you are using wheels for making nothing bigger than a standard card, you don't need to use cartridges at all. The wheel is large enough to run more than the length needed. Just ink the wheel directly on the pads as you would a brayer on the spectrum pads, start off on your scratch paper and roll across your cardstock.
I would suggest for placement purposes, to make a pencil mark on the scratch paper as your seam lineup marker and another as a guide edge for the card itself.
This is an awesome technique! My tip for you: Try to line the wheels up exactly instead of trying to make it a little off. When I tried to make it "a little" off, it was WAY off! When I tried to line it up the same, it was off just the right amount.
BTW, I just used the white pad and not a cartridge.
The white ink cartridge actually comes with craft ink - there is no water based dye ink that is white. It is recommended that you not overink the cartridge.
