I'm so mad as devil when they didn't do markers for IN COLOR colors, who are with me on that?
I was playing with Oh So Sweet set, I liked how cranberry crisp looked on the strawberry but then I want Close To Cocoa for the chocolate part of strawberry and then Close to Artichoke for the top leaf part.
If I had the markers I could just color the parts. So I ended up stamping the strawberry 3x using different color every time. Then cut out the leaf part and the chocolate part and pasted on the whole red strawberry like paper piecing. And added Diamond Glaze on the chocolate part.
Hmm what a great tip! I'll definitely try that!!! Another reason to buy reinkers! I wonder they will end up selling the marker in those colors due to seemingly high demand from us? Just wondering.

That's a good way of thinking. I'm so excited that I just ordered 34 classic inkpads from a gal on here to complete my SU color collection. I also bought all 9 retired colors as well. I am fairly new to SU but got lucky by scoring 150 sets from another person who just quit stamping and I paid only $350!!
Now I gotta stop and cool off from spending frenzy until my husband get over with this...THEN I go after the new sets in the new catty and holiday mini catty like white on rice!!!!!

That's awesome! You got a great deal. Have fun with your new stamps!!
I love 3 of the new colors but am not going to invest in pads or reinkers and I won't be stocking this cardstock until I see if they really do bring out the markers. I am also not pleased with this way of testing the market. Using the pad and blender gives a watercolor. I buy the markers mainly so I can color directly on stamps or parts of stamps.
Has anyone had time to go to a local stamp/craft store and test out the marvy markers for a color match to the new In Colors? I have had this on my "to do" list, but the closest store of that type is an hour away and haven't been able to justify the cost of gas just for that one thing!;)
If someone finds another vendor for matching markers, please let us know here - I'm subscribing to the thread in hopes that someone will do this for me!
I used my blender and reinkers to color directly on the stamp and it looked just the same as a marker. It's not watered down at all when you're using full-strenth re-inkers! I'd actually JUST gotten the reinkers at first, figuring I could do away with the pads. Just figured I'd color images or color on stamps. It's not a biggie at all. Actually, (and this will tell you just how MUCH I need to get out more!) it's fun to drop a few drops on a pallette and stick the blender pen tip into it. It looks cool watching the tip soak up every TRACE of the ink! OK, I know...I'm a flake!

I like the idea of having new In colors every year. I would be super bummed if they used them again and retired one of the other colors. I did not think that was not the reason they came out with the line. I think it is a great way to have new colors for those who have all the other colors and want something fresh. As for the markers, If they sell the cardstock and pads and reinkers, why not markers. I realize to keep the In Colors fresh every year they would not be able to carry the colors in certain products and the line must be drawn somewhere.

I'm with Betsy. I ordered a new set of blender pens just to have the 6 In Color markers. So cool to watch the blender tips soak up the ink - they work just great to color direct to the stamp. It doesn't take much to make me happy!

Great idea about the ink and blender pens. I am going to get the two new ink colors I love and a few of the other colors I love in reinkers and just use them with blender pens. The marker would never dry out, lol. BTW, love the prairie paper and ink blog.
It is a great idea to make a marker out of blender pens. I wish I would have known or thought to do this before I ordered stamp pads. But, I will say, I LOVE the new colors that I've bought. I think it's nice to have a little change -- just like everyone once in a while it's nice to go buy some fun paper from your LSS!
I love my blender pens that I converted to in color markers. I just took the dried out blender pen, and inked it up with an in color. Now I have cranberry crisp and cool carribien markers. I pulled out the big tip, dropped in about 30 drops of reinker and viola, new in color marker! I have pics I am going to upload of things I did using the in color markers that I made, they are great, color all the way through and no having to add new drops of reinker. So if you have old dried up blender pens, just ink them up all the way with the reinkers, and have new in color markers.

Skip the SU cranberry and go with Adirondack Cranberry pad and marker. Very close and in fact a more intense ink that gives better coverage. Tombow makes markers pretty close to the other colors. TAC makes cardstock almost those same colors. I think SU sorta is shooting themselves in the foot here to not offer the whole deal. By bringing things out and retiring so many things each year they are encouraging the whole ebay frenzy thing.

LOL, Dena! If you're at all like me, you'd wind up buying the pads anyway... (I did!). I just like having it all....
Hey!! From reading one of ladies post about wondering if Marvy markers would match to SU IN COLOR colors... I just realized that I have 100s of marvy markers plus 48 Zig Writer and then plus 150 off brand markers. I tested all of the closest colors and I came up with match for Buckaroo Blue and Cranberry Crisp! I only have Buckaroo Blue and Cranberry Crisp ink right now but I will be getting the rest of colors by end of this week! Anyway for Cranberry Crisp...Zig Writer MS-6600 Burgundy! For Buckaroo Blue...Marvy NO. 17 Steel Blue. Hope you gals have those markers!
I agree that I think SU should have offered it all...markers, spots, 12x12 paper individually. It seems absurd considering the holiday mini is all about the new IN COLOR - the ribbon, the printed papers, the samples.
I like having "new" color choices, but I shouldn't have to "make" my own markers. Then again, they are just making more $$$ by having us "make" our own - the cost of a blender pen and reinkers is more than a single marker (I think off the top of my head). So, maybe that's the motivation.

~a disgruntled SU demo and customer!
You don't have to buy solely SU blender pens, there are some Marvy blender pens at Micheals or JoAnns and use the coupon. They work pretty good, IMHO.
Gosh, just do whatever works, lol! I happen to have the reinkers, because I have reinkers for ALL the colors. I use them for more than reinking pads all the time. It's no big deal to grab the blender pen and go.
If you don't normally buy reinkers and have a similar color in Marvy, why not use it? Thanks, Jestermann, for researching to find colors that are close!
I haven't tried it yet (how embarrassing!), but how does the Bravo Burgandy look with the Cranberry?

Thanks for going through your markers I'm going to go check out my bins of markers and see if I have the ones you found as a match - wish me luck!

I LOVE the Adirondack Cranberry pad - it is the most lucious color (as you say, very rich and clear. I don't have the marker for that color; I'll have to see if I can find a source for it. The Adirondack pens are permanent and work really well on shrink art, so I highly recommend having them in the supply box for this reason alone.
Have you considered the cost associated with SU! doing that? I am sure that would have kicked the prices up so high that people wouldn't buy ANY of the In Color line. Personally, I look at all the In Color stuff as added bonuses. How many other companies would respond to trends in color like that without taking something away? Yes, it's a bit of a drag when you have fallen in love with a color and want all 12 X 12 but I don't expect every store to have every item in every package that I want and I sure can't expect SU! to either.
Bren
I agree. I still think that the In Colors were introduced to be companions to this year's patterned papers and ribbons. It really gives SU more options for bringing in lots of paper designs in trendy colors. That way, if one of our family of colors doesn't work, we'll still be able to have something that will, at least for the time we have the papers. I'm a happy girl, lol. (Could you tell??)
Oh yeah, I'm a color junkie! The more colors, the better!!!!!
SU! introduced the line to be trendy. Each ink pad has "07" on the end of the pad, and I'll fall RIGHT OUT OF MY CHAIR if any of them is in next year's catalog. In fact, I expect them to have six NEW colors next year!
If you like staying with the trendy colors, this is PERFECT. If you don't care, then you don't have to try them! If you have a match with other stuff, awesome!
An old friend visited me Monday (she's moved to Colorado) and when she saw the new colors, she said Wow, she's seen a lot of stuff in those colors this year. Very hip.
I was pleased to hear we're current with trendiness. LOL

Just use your blender pen with the reinkers or squeeze the lid of your ink pad and use the top as a pallet.
Good luck & don't fret!

It would have been cheaper for us to offer us the marker. SU talks about everything being so fast and easy and now this year we have to die and make everything. Adding additional steps is not a good deal in my book.

It's not as if you can't purchase 12x12, you can, just only in variety packs. So how much more would it cost SU to offer them in single colors? And I'm sorry, but they have set a standard when the complete line of colors is available as marker, spot, pad, paper - and then to have a few new "in colors" only available as variety paper 12x12, pad, and 8.5x11. It just doesn't make sense.
Yes, I bought all the pads and refills and a variety pack of paper, but in retrospect, I wish I wouldn't have, b/c I don't support this new concept if they are going to expect folks to make their own markers. It wouldn't be so bad, but in the holiday mini, it seems like the new colors are the only things featured.

No no no no no!!! LOL
You're looking at it all backwards!!!!!
See - these colors are a simple trendy bonus, to be used IF YOU WANT them. They'll only be around for a year - and I'm SURE that part of their reasoning is, if we make them available in everything, demos will feel they have to buy them all! For a temporary color!??!!
Then we would have complaints about that!!!!!
SO - the way I CHOOSE to look at it (and I guess I'm an optimist) is - I don't HAVE to buy them but I CAN if I WANT to.
Nobody is making anyone buy any of them, right??!!!??!

I'm gettin SS spots and SSmarkers to share with a great friend/customer and we're gonna re-ink them with In Color for ourselves.
Actually, we have kids so we are each gonna wash out six of our current and messy ss spots/pens and re-ink those instead. We'll replace those ones with the new clean ss spots and markers to make up our sets again.
clear as mud?
I made new markers, spots and classic pads when the colors changed last time, so I'm not afraid now!
They should be here by friday!

Nope, no one is making anyone buy them. I also am not looking at it all wrong. But obviously since we can buy them would be nice if they were in a marker. Thats all we who want them in markers are saying.

Well, I said that in a VERY teasing tone of voice, because I realize not everyone is such a pollyanna as I sometimes am.
I'm just philosophical.
See, I figure, since SU! already said this was all that was coming out, and it's only for a year, I'm taking them at face value! So instead of being sad that there's no markers, if I want to use them that way, I'll find an alternative!
I don't believe that "complaining" will change anything, so I don't want to put any energy into that. That's all!

Whatever your feeling on the subject I really suggest you let SU know. The "In Color" line is a new concept, and I am sure they want to hear feedback from Customers and demos both!
