Does anyone else feel "mean" for using the stamp that says "Some of my best friends are flakes" from Flaky Friends stamp set. Am I being silly? Maybe I'm taking too seriously. Any opinions?
I sorta thought that when I first saw it. If I had the set, I would only use it with a select few. Just gotta make sure they won't take it the wrong way!
Maybe I'm being really literal here but I take its meaning to be the flakes are the snowmen; as in snowmen are made from snow and snow is just snowflakes. I didn't read into it to mean anything other than that. Some people may read it the other way. In that case it would still apply to me.
No, it's not just you. I wouldn't use the stamp either! LOL

Oh dear, I thought it was funny! I even have a sign that I put up out front at Christmas that says the same thing and welcomes my guests - hope I haven't offended anyone!!
I LOVE it and the friends that I have given things to that has it on them, They have gotten a kick out of it and loved it as well. None of them ever took offense. But I think that is because we are all a little flakey
Oh, wow! I have several snowman sets, but I have wanted this one from the beginning JUST because of THAT STAMP! I had to buy the other sets first, because they were retiring, so I had to wait on this one, but I love THAT STAMP! Would anyone who does NOT use that stamp be willing to share ? We might be able to work up a trade or something! PM me!
TIA!

I love that set, it was one of my first. I used it for the bulk of my cards last year and everyone loved it.....not one person (including a 84 year old fuddy duddy aunt) was offended by it!

I don't think that people really take things like that seriously. It's just a joke. I thought it was hilarious and bought the set. We too have a sign on our door that says "Flakes Welcome". I wouldn't take it seriously if someone sent it to me! But hey, that's just me. Different strokes for different folks right?
Now, on to another side - I cannot bring myself to purchase Word Play, because I find the "HEY!" offensive. I, personally, do not answer to that greesting & cannot support this set because of it.
Oh my, here's another one that I'm on the"other" side about!! LOL Being from the South, we use the word "hey" just like most everyone else uses the word "Hi". I was congratulating SU! for having a "southern" stamp!!
I don't have this set, but years ago I purchased a large snowman head and a saying. I believe it said, "Snowmen are Big Flakes!" I loved my Christmas cards that year. When I seen the set in the SU! catty, I loved it. I thought it was very cute and fun. I'm a snowman lover, so I would not take that the wrong way.

flaky friends
well I was in the same boat as you when I first bought this set. loved the snowmen, hated the saying. but then I was at a scrapbook weekend and was trying to come up with a page design. I noticed that I had lots of goofy pictures of friends and family, such as silly faces, people doing 'rabbit ears' to the person standing next to them, etc. I suddenly realized that I had the perfect "Flaky Friends" page! these have become some of my very favorite scrapbook pages, and they always cause laughs when people look through my book.
I still won't use the saying on a card, but boy does it make a great scrapbook title!
