Not to throw a wrench into the conversation but has anyone used the eyelet brads?
Have them. Hate them. If I want the look of eyelets, using the real thing is so much easier. These are not easy like regular brads. I can't ever get both holes where I want them and if I press them to the paper to mark where they should go my paper ends up buckled.
When I started paper crafting eyelets were what was readily available, so I bought them in every color and have tons of them. Then brads came around and they were easier, so I have tons of them now too. Since I got a Crop-a-Dile, I have been pulling the eyelets out of the back of the drawer and using them again. So, both for me.

Are these the same thing as snaps? I have some, but have never used them.
My vote is for brads - I like the look better because nothing shows through, but I really would like to use up the eyelets I have. They are taking up way too much storage space! (Yes, I have them in every color imaginable!)
I like them all, but LOVE brads, dew drops, half pearls, glitter dots because most can be added after my card is all put together and I realize I forgot something.
I voted brads. I just never got into eyelets; don't want to buy another piece of equipment that I have to haul back and forth to FL and NC every six months. Brads seem to do just as good a job of embellishing as eyelets do. JMHO.
I voted brads............but I do love eyelets..it just seems like the brads are a bit more conveient to get on the cards...I have a cropadile...but most of the time it smooshes my eyelets and I am afraid they are going to fall out..probably just operator errror...and I have sooooooooooooo many eyelets and snaps...love them...not ready to get rid of them yet...
Blessings

I've tried the eyelet brads...they are more difficult to use. I put an old mouse pad under the paper, and that helps...a little.
I love the look of eyelets, but I was getting them way too smooshed and it was always the last one, which ruined the card... I bought an eyelet setter from MM...but haven't tried it. It's just easier (and I'm SOOOO lazy) to reach for a brad when I want that type of embellishment...

I have tons of eyelets that I never use any more since I discovered the simplicity of brads. However, since I got my cropadile I have been pulling out the eyelets and using them up. When they're gone, I won't replace them, though. I just like brads better.
The big jumbo eyelets, on the other hand, are the best! I will get more of these when I run out.
I reach for brads (and pearls and gems and . . . ) more than eyelets. BUT I really like the look of eyelets especially on masculine and kids cards. I like them for threading ribbon through too and for pivot points! The big eyelets are great for nautical and western themes. Just sayin' maybe I should reach for them more often!

I'm not voting either, because I want to vote for "both". Brads are generally easier to use, but they both have their distinct style and strenghts, and I use both.
I voted brads, but I don't like having to deal with the brad 'legs' on small flowers or on the edges of cs. Seems like I can never hide the stupid things, so either end up cutting them off or pulling out my trusty eyelets and not having to worry with the legs at all. But overall I like brads better.
I go through way more brads than eyelets. I love Stampin' Up! vintage brads! As far as eyelets, if I do use some, it is almost always Stampin' Up! Jumbo Eyelets.
I noticed how many eyelets I have sitting in my stamp room, unloved.
It seems as though I have abandoned them for brads! I really want to start using them again because I LOVE the way they look.
I think my reasons for not using them as much is that I have found brads faster and quieter. I know, I have a cropodile and a silent setter that I have to take out of the box. But I still grab the brads.
How about you? What do you prefer and why?
Hey Gina, I didn't put in a answer only because. I still use both Eyelets and Brads.
Brads are easier to use. But I still find something to use my Eyelets on and in.
Since I have the Crop-a-dile tool (hand held one) I love using it. And it's quite too.
I like the ease of use of brads best. As far as appearance goes, I usually prefer the more solid look of brads unless I want a hole for some reason. I do have some really cute eyelets with words or designs around them that I will use occasionally if they coordinate with my layout.

Gina, I can't vote! I love both equally!
Really, it all depends on what the effect or function I'm going for that determines which I'll use, in any given project.
I was *so* sad to see and hear eyelets had fallen outta' popularity. *pout*
But, truly, they're as much a staple as brads are in my supply closet. ;)

I like both. I had finally heard about the crop-a-dile and bought one to start using eyelets (the noise factor pre-crop-a-dile was what kept me away) and that is right about when brads started to take over in popularity. Rats! I finally caught up with the trend and then it went and dropped out of the race, lol!
