Default Dry Erase paper

I'm hoping someone here can help....

I saw this great project in the gallery, I'll post it below.... anyways, it has dry erase paper on it. i've googled and found some at DickBlick and a few others places...My question is this-can anyone get it locally? Dick Blick sells it in a package of sheets for 4.95, shipping is 8.95!!!!! Another place I found it sold it for around $7/roll, shipping again was 8.95....and the others needed a min. order of $20-$40 to sell to you.....

here's the project:

Anyone ???? Please??? I know I could always try to find some boards at the $1 store, etc, but I thought a roll of selfadhesive would be great to have on hand....

I have a roll of it that I have never opened and for the life of me I can not remember where I bought it. Maybe try homedepot, walmart or office max - I am pretty sure I bought it at one of those places....

You can find dry erase contact paper at places like WalMart. I used to use it when I taught. If your WalMart is not carrying it anymore (I think I started having problems finding it), try a teacher store like Holcomb's or United Art & Education.

Thanks! I will check the office supply stores and Wally-World this week. I was concerned because stores like Staples & Office Max didn't carry them in their web stores...

I think I 'll experiment with some glossy paper this week & see if that works.

I bought a big sheet (22" x 28") of "wipe off poster board" at AC Moore for about $1. I'll bet you could cut it into the size you need and use tacky tape to make it stick. For a buck, it might be worth a try.

Didn't know you could get it like that. Now I might actually have an idea for those altered clip boards I see everywhere.

My kitchen calendars are all wipe off boards (I have 7, one starting on each day of the week). I just took a printed 8.5 x 11 sheet and had it laminated at Office Max. Instant, personalized wipe off board.

I can tell you based on my own personal experiences: glossy paper will NOT work, so don't waste the paper.

You can use a regular piece of paper or CS and laminate it - it will work great for dry-erase markers.

Hey, that was my sample! Woo hoo!!! I just did that at a stamp camp last weekend. One of my downline got her dry erase sheets at Office Depot, but we couldn't find them after that. I ordered mine from http://store.yahoo.com/godryerase/index.html. It wasn't cheap, but I got a package of 4 free dry erase markers with every package of dry erase sheets, so it wasn't too bad.

HTH!

EDIT: Sorry, I guess the website is different than what I originally thought. It is http://store.yahoo.com/godryerase/index.html. (I changed it above as well.)

I agree with everyone else. The ways I know to make it dry erase are:
1. dry erase contact paper (at Wally's in the contact paper section) Kinda thin but works well if stuck to a smooth surface,
2. The big sheets that they sell at Office D/ Staples (designed to stick anywhere, with static cling, and be moved) {Gotta check out the AC Moore kind, never heard of it before!}
3. Laminated paper, the smoother the better. (I got an 8.5x11 page super thick laminated for $.88 at Staples.)
4. You could get a truely hard surface by having them cut the "shower" board at HDepot. It's an enourmous sheet for 10.00 and they will often cut it for you if you go when it's not busy and look really sweet. (Brown composite stuff on the back and glossy white on the front.
5. OR how about a glossy tile. They are great too. You need to use hot glue to adhere though but they work really well, but are heavy.

Hmmmmm. Just saw this in my quest for this stuff . . . :

Quote:

Con-Tact Brand Readi-write Is Launched
Pliant Solutions Corp.'s Con-Tact Brand has Readi-write an all-purpose self-adhesive writing surface that comes in memo board and chalkboard finishes, allowing you to write, wipe and peel away in any area or on any surface of the home. With Readi-write's repositionable technology, you can peel, adjust and reapply without leaving any sticky residue behind.

Readi-write can be used to create a memo board on the kitchen Refrigerator, or to let kids draw on the furniture.
Now, WHERE to BUY it!!!!!! That's the kicker!

You can find the dry erase roll that you are looking for at DiscountSchoolSupply.com. You get a roll 18" x6' for $5.29. It is great stuff and it does work!

I used to use that and the chalkboard contact quite a bit. It became hard to find except around "back to school" time. I would always stock up then by going to Target, Walmart, Office Depot, etc. It came in rolls and a package of 9 x 12 (I think) sheets. Good luck. That's a really cool project! I may have to try and dig up some from my stash!

Wow--I'm gonna have to try some of the suggestions above. I use

C-Line, Dry-Erase Sticker sheets, 3 pack (5 1/2 x 8 1/2) acid/lignon free for around $5. I think I picked them up at createforless.com. They also carry a product called GoWrite which is sold in the 8 1/2x11 size, 25 pack, that has "post-it" repositionable glue so you can move the things around from the fridge to the counter to wherever. You can get it from their website directlyyours.com (I think).
