Default Does anyone else not mount their SU! stamps immediately?

I have 14 stamps sets I have yet to mount! One of them dates all the way back to the September 6 special that SU! gave. BLAH! I want to use them, but I guess I'm just lazy! I'm even laid off this week from work, and I'm finding anything else to do BUT stamp and/or mount stamps. I'm supposed to be figuring out my February stamp camp! I think tomorrow will be cutting and labeling day to get those sets usable!!

I have a few sets from a week ago that I haven't mounted yet, but that's because I got them the day before a Stamp Camp I was having (I didn't need those particular sets for the Stamp Camp). They still aren't mounted because I got sick. Now I'm feeling better and I'm stamping again and I plan on getting them mounted in the next few days.

I can't mount tons at one time because I have fibromyalgia and it makes my neck/shoulders/upper back hurt a lot if I do more than 2 sets at a time.

I have most of my Simple Type Double alpha yet to do.....it's been in my hand since the 20th of December!! I will work on it though, as I now have a special project that's gonna need my alphas!

Default One set at a time!

Here's a suggestion! I hope it works because this what I do when I get my new stamps. I mount the sets while I'm watching TV or when I have a quiet moment during my lunch hour. I can definitely relate to the challenge of mounting stamps. I have a toddler that loves to get into my stamps.

So, my best advice is just do one set a time. I always work on my "newest favorite".

LOL....I'm not sure how many I have, but there's quite a few. I have a double alpha that I got over a year ago for my Stampin' Start that I still have to mount!

I figured that now that I'm not a demo anymore I won't be getting as many sets. So I'm going to pace myself with the ones I have that are unmounted and bring them out when I need a fix! It will be like I got a new set because I haven't played with it yet

Do you think I can trick myself into believing this?

I have decided that if I am not going to use the set right away, I am not going to mount them. That way if I need a gift or need to make a basket for charity etc, I have unmounted, new stamp sets!! What do you think?

A lot of times I don't mount a stamp until I'm ready to use it. So, I tend to end up with a lot of half mounted stamp sets. I figure "why waste the time mounting if I never use that particular stamp." Although if I don't really feel like getting ready for a workshop or something I will procrastinate by mounting a stamp set.

I'm with Kar on this one! I mount mine as soon as I get them! Can't wait to play. Of course, I LOVE cutting and mounting stamps!

I still have stamps to mount from a month ago. I usually have a couple that end up sitting around awhile. If when I get stamps there is a particular stamp that I just had to have then it usually gets mounted the day it arrives otherwise they wait until I'm in the mood to mount them.

I don't mount mine right away, either. I figure, something weird may happen (I'll find another set I want to trade it for, or something), and it's better to have it unmounted.

I usually mount stamps right before I use them for the first time.

I mount only the ones in the set I know I'll use. I have a few sets ... OK like 15 -20  I have not mounted yet and they are retired. I do have plans for them when I can get my rear in gear and scrapbook my drawers and drawers of pictures.

I have 3 current SABs and only the stamps I used in a swap have been mounted. Then I have some I ordered from the xmas catty I haven't mounted yet, hope they make it inot the next year's catty. I have some halloween ones I haven't mounted ... OK, you get the picture.

Yup, I pretty much mount them as I get them. Although, I do have one set unmounted that I haven't used yet.

I mount mine right away, I like to organize them in my little shelf, so they can have a good nights rest and know that they will soon be stained with black ink just like all the others on the shelf! Besides, when I'm creating I like to have them all at my finger tips and ready to go! Otherwise I get a brain bubble and get stuck for ideas!

I guess I'm just over-eager, but I mount my stamp sets right away. If I'm running errands and will be waiting (or while in line picking up my son from school), I will bring my C&R scissors and will mount while I'm waiting.

OR I also work at home full-time and homeschool my girls. If I'm working, I will mount one stamp after each document I type (or after every hour of typing, depending on how behind I am at work). If I'm homeschooling, I can mount them very quickly, because I'm just sitting here waiting for questions (but I need to be in the room or they get distracted).

I have quite a few sets that are unmounted, and most likely will not be mounted in the near future.. I would much rather have them come already put together! I think i'll save the unmounted sets for gifts or if i have a customer that is just dying for the set, then i'll have to put it together.

I mount mine as soon as I get them - I can't wait to play with them!! I have to make something with it was soon as it's mounted too!!
Although I do have a couple sets that I've bought as gifts for hostess party I'm having when I celebrate my 1st anniversary as a demo. - And it's hard to contain myself sometimes!

I mount mine before I use them the first time.

I let many friends borrow my stamps, they often have to mount them first.

One thing I can't stand, and I am not a picky person, but I cannot stand half mounted sets.

 I'm like a kid with a new toy when it comes to mounting the stamps. I received my order from my demo yesterday during work for the 11 sets that I ordered. They where all mounted before I went to bed last night. Maybe I'm just eeerrrrr ummmm a little, tiny bit addicted.......

I get so excited when I get a new stamp set that I mount them at least within one day. And I use them within one day. I couldn't stand to have them sitting around knowing I paid for them and they're not being used.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! I'm terrible about mounting them. I will say though, I had a workshop yesterday at my house and at the last minute I realized I didn't make a hostess gift...long story! So, my procratination paid off. I ran upstairs tied a cute organdy bow with a tag that said "Thanks!" around and unmounted stamp set I was going to get rid of anyways. Yeah me!! And my hostess was thrilled!

ok, I think I am SAD!!! I have AT LEAST 10- 15 sets unmounted dating as far back as 1998! I may have one or two out of the set mounted, but many 100% unmounted :(
I just have to have ALL the stamps I guess lol

Okay, I don't normally post a lot; however, I have to say I just mounted 30 stamp sets in the last 4 days. I got in the mood and decided I needed to get them done.

I'm a demo & can't stand having sets lying around that aren't mounted. I have a total of 7 sets here that aren't mounted because they are duplicates of hostess sets, last year's SAB & this year's SAB. IT DRIVES ME NUTS TO LOOK AT THEM! Once the Man in Brown delivers, I drop everything, check in the order & mount away! Life completely stops for me until my new toys are ready to be played with, so no, I don't let them sit unmounted!

I'm always so excited when I get new stamp sets that I mount them right away (or at least that same night ) !!!

Unfortunately, that is about all I get to do with them until the weekend !!! Some sets haven't even been "played with" yet, but I'm getting lots of great ideas from SCS for a marathon stamping day !!!

I'm guilty of unmounted sets :( I have an alphabet set from last MAY, yes, you read the correctly, MAY that still needs to be mounted.

The 3 SAB sets I have were mounted right away because they were "easy" cuts to do. Anything that takes time usually sits on the shelf a bit :(

Default Guilty!

How bad is this just a little less than a year ago I was excited to mount my sets! I would take them with me to Dr. visits etc. Any place I would be still for more than 5 minutes. I enjoyed it~

Recently I let a friend borrow a few of my sets with the understanding that she could borrow if she mounted them! She was shocked as I told her not too long ago how I enjoyed it.

I think I just got burned out and needed a break. I got sets before they retired from 2003-2004 catalog, then a few sets from the mini's and flexible phrases and an alphabet. Too many to use at once.

My resolutio in 2005 is to mount each set within 30 days of receipt. I won't use the set if it isn't ready to go - plus my friend can borrow without having the hassle of mount-your-own sets

Good topic and isn't nice to know you are not alone! Stacey

Default Don't let them sit!!!!!

I mount mine pretty much right away. Occasionally, it's a couple of weeks before I get to some of them. But I don't let it go much longer than that, and this is why.

Recently, I borrowed some stamp sets from fellow demonstrators for gift making. The sets were unmounted and the ladies had had them for anywhere from 6 to 18 months. I trimmed them, and applied the stickers to the blocks. When I went to mount the actual rubber to wood, I found that the adhesive was lifting off the foam backing when I removed the waxed paper! I ended up having to use CE to glue many of them down. I noticed that the older the set was, the worse the problem was.

Needless to say, I'm fairly diligent about mounting my stamps now--and not just because I'm excited to have them! :?

Okay - Here is an offer that I am extending to all of you that have sets sitting around unmounted...

Send them to me and I will trim them for you. I won't mount them (since everyone does it differently), but I will trim them and send them back. You could even just send the rubber dies (it would be MUCH cheaper that way) and I will send them back trimmed and ready to peel and stick!

I LOVE to trim stamps (and I'm pretty darn good at it if I do say so myself). If anyone would like to take me up on that offer, just PM me!
- Susan
