Default Decorating the envelope . . .

Okay -- I took the easy way out and had my holiday card printed by Snapfish (I know, I know, I feel guilty about not stamping them, but I needed to make 100, and I didn't have the time to do it!).

So now, in a burst of creative guilt, I want to wheel the envelopes with one of the jumbo wheels from the holiday mini (the one with the swirls, the name escapes me this morning). BUT, I was wondering if the USPS would have a problem with a completely decorated envelope. I would be putting labels on the front (white) with the address on it and my return address. Has anyone had any problems with decorated envelopes? Are there any regulations about this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Leslie

Default decorated envelopes

Leslie I don't think that decorating your envelope will be a problem,
unless the address is hard to read. My mom is a sweepstakes fanatic
and is always asking me to stamp envelopes for her. She says it
attracts attention to her entry. In fact, we have also crimped corners
of envelopes and have not had any issues with mailing. Hope this helps!

Default decorating the envelop

I decorate all my envelopes. There are certain places it's allowable -- the lower left hand corner and the back of the envelope. It's shouldn't be anywhere near where you put your stamp. And it shouldn't go across the entire bottom since they use zip code scanners. If you don't want to roll the flap on the back, then I would roll at an angle in the bottom left corner.

Have fun!

I decorate the backs and, or something really small on lower lh corner of the front, such as a snowflake.

Ok - question. Why the lower left hand? I always do the lower right hand. I haven't had any problems doing it this way. Just curious as to why lower left is better.

I've used a wheel across the whole bottom of the front of the envelope a number of times and never had a problem getting the card where it was supposed to go. Maybe the postal workers are mad at me now, but they still send my mail!

Actually, I helped my friend make her engagement announcements and we used the whirly-twirly wheel across the bottom of all of the envelopes and they all made it to their destinations too!
