Awesome job ladies!! It's been a festive time indeed!! I'm down in my studio hoping to catch up on the last five cards now.
And thank you for the answers on what you are sending to the card drives...I appreiciate your answers b/c I was feeling bad thinking I may only be sending 1 or 2 or 3 to each drive...such a contrast from all the ones I would send for HYCCT! I think many of us have seen different circumstances this year with family and what not! I will give it my best shot for sure! |

This is my roughing it tracking sheet, continued on the back with the rest of the cards and then the tutorials!! :o

Good timing b/c the chocolate stash is really dwindling...

I'm sorry if I'm repeating a question, but if so, I just missed seeing it. I understand that, for Yeti status, we have to make a list of links to ALL of our projects and post it on the Yeti status thread. I just rechecked that thread for instructions, and it said it will not open for such postings until after the gallery closes. Since the gallery closes at noon on October 31, is that when we have to post our list? Or is there a time range when we can do this? I didn't see anything specific there or in the schedule post about the deadline for posting these lists. Sorry if I am just being anal--just the way I roll! I've been working hard to catch up with everything, and don't want to miss out. :)

I feel like Ann has rubbed some of her fairy dust on me, or Falliday Fest has created a miracle. I'm really 100% ready for my retreat (I leave on Wednesday), my house is clean, my guest room is ready - I'm starting to freak out that I've forgotten something HUGE. This has never happened that I've been ready three days early for anything!

So, I have a very old napkin that I have spent 30 minutes trying to iron to some cardstock with cling wrap brand plastic.. it is a very not very good adhesion... I am thinking I may have to run this through the sewing machine.
(not sure yet, or die cut it tiny) I have a salted background that is not dirty snow colored so, back to the drawing board with that one and (this will work for another kid star bright birthday) (shocking I know 2 count um 2 bright cards in the same weekend) *gasp* I am thinking that candy canes are hard Christmas candy right. three to go. |
I'm into baby baths and pumpkin carving right now!! Hoping to get back to the studio later this evening to get the salted background done so it can dry...at least I'm thinking it will have to dry to use? I just skimmed the deets quick!!
And I don't feel prepared for this new week at all yet...thank goodness for more freezer meals! |
Stamped out 4 card challenges today (total of 5 cards) and have 4 challenges to go to be finished. have one tutorial done....all finished are posted....so 9 tutorials and 4 cards and I can say done.....LOL! I know I will make it on cards...tutorials could be a surprise....think I will begin with the easy ones(ha) and progress to the hard ones later in the week.

What is this salted background of which you speak? Did i miss something?
|
Lydia's second challenge from yesterday is a salted background to be melted snow? (was the way I read it today) yesterday, I read it as a salted background.
but, generally I do print screens of the challenge write up because, I dont trust my memory with these things ( I forget bits like Lori's wheat challenge was supposed to be a Thanksgiving card and I only remembered the wheat part kwim?) so, since I print things at work, the ones that go live on the weekends are where I get balled up. |
The salted background is the only card I have to complete. I've started it, but it's sitting on my desk waiting for me . . . . I'm also in the middle of making a perpetual calendar. It's about half done. Tomorrow is another day! I'm mailing my cards tomorrow. I have four cards for three of the destinations. Hopefully, I'll get an envelope together for the fourth one also.
|
I have made them before where it depends on the weather and the temp. of your room. ( I am sitting in a living room with a heater going full bore right now) but, you don't want to hit it with your heat gun (blow it off) because, the salt works as a resist, it pushes the paint away from the salt it self as it dries so, do that one before you go to bed and let it sit till morning?
eta then brush the used salt into a container you can re use it again for more backgrounds later down the road. |
I actually DID use my heat gun on my salted background. I used the low setting to dry it and then brushed off the excess salt. I used regular table salt and I'm surprised at how much I liked the look!

All Cards and 5 tutorials are photographed and uploaded ! Phew, I am so glad that I managed 5 tutorials because the other 5 are great, but I have not been so interested !
My Card for Card Drive # 4 goes out today. Ready for now - I can wait for the Yeti thread :D To all who are still there: You can do it, keep it up ! Little hint for the Napkin Challenge (ive read someone had Problems): You can also take an adhesive stick, which works very well. Glue the cardstock over the whole area and put on the napkin. |
If I can get some unpacking done today, I may use this catch up week to make more cards for the drives! I love the variety we get to support!

Oh, my goodness! I made a sympathy card for Lori's challenge! I didn't remember it was supposed to be a Thanksgiving card. I sent her an appology, and moved it out of that gallery! If I hadn't read your comment , I wouldn't have known! I guess I need to start printing the challenges, too! LOL

As Lydia told the hostesses--no card is wrong! We are all just having fun, creating, sharing, chatting, and helping out some very good causes. The galleries are amazing and speaking for me, I am proud of all of our efforts!

really there are no stamping police I just tend to be more of a rule follower and it annoys me to no end that I cannot remember things like that. I just either have to write them down or have paper there I can write on ( as I do things because, I don't remember set names or ink colors either) ( like all those places that give their ink TWO names? (seriously? is it good enough to say concord if you knew I was talking distress colors?) hahahah its all good. |

Thread about someone having a card for a challenge that didn't meet the requirements, I had all I could do not to go back and check all mine again. Eek! Don't have time to do that, so I haven't but.... I read and reread and still sometimes miss somethng! |
Morning all! It was a bit brisk when I retrieved the newspaper this morning...but is slated to be in the 80's by supper time.. More card making today--fun fun!

Out and about helping my dad get his tire situation squared away so he can head home. Will have the afternoon for stamping though!

okay here goes a spew alert...
(put your mug down) ready? I showed hubs my napkin, tried ironing it again... and flipped it upside down where it starts you know unfurling.. and he says Oh, its a white trailer trash project. ( I was glad I was not drinking anything anyways) snicker, I will make this work, I will. stomps foot. Have a good day ladies! |
I have had so much fun playing along and following Falliday Fest Challenge! (Been a few years since I played along with any challenges here, I feel a bit rusty!) :-) I'm hoping to get a few more cards finished up, photo'd, & uploaded, but anything requiring heat embossing will have to wait. My heat tool died a week or so ago, and I ended up ordering one from my SU! demonstrator. I hope it will arrive this week, but if it doesn't, oh well! I've still had a blast, trying new techniques, and best of all, seeing everyone's awesome creations!! Happy Catch-Up Week, everybody!! :D

Studio time! Witch in hand!! Guess what challenge I'm on?
Just got back from taking my DD1 to take her driver's test! She passed. 2nd attempted...but she felt like she did way worse. Whatever! Same guy too, so we were nervous b/c he seemed in a worse mood than last time. So that phase is done with kid #1...3 more to go!!!!!!!!! 10 year gap between #2 and #3 so maybe by the time #3 and #4 do it, DH can retire and take over!!! ;) |
Nah Jean, its all good we joke about our house ( its a fixer) and on the outside the parts we have not gotten to yet have aluminum siding and aluminum windows ( awful stuff) anyways it looks like the person who designed it was enamored with camper trailers...but, on the other hand it probably looked fairly scary to him that the head bean counter in our world was Ironing a PAPER napkin... lol
fortunately times are not that bad in my world ;) |

Whoot, just finished up my melted snow card!! So fun! These little techniques sure get me out of my run and give me brain freeze (not that they are hard, just different than stamps and ink and paper!!). Love! So THANK YOU! Now I've got to pay a little heed to the littles and get lunch on. Little Man just took a great nap and woke up right at a good time as I finished up that card!
I'll hope for some quiet time tonight to take pics and upload and link, link, link! |
