Not sure if I am doing something wrong on there, but I have noticed that 1/2 of the stuff that I think I have pinned are not appearing on my boards. :-(
Thanks! I'm in, tho I don't know what to do yet...but thanks for the invite!
Install the "Pin It" bookmarklet to your browser's toolbar, so you can pin things from other websites and blogs. Then when you see an image you like, you can click the "Pin It" button and a popup will show all of the images from that page/blog, and you can click which image you want to pin, as well as to which board (like a folder) you want to save it to, and add any comments.
For those starting out, I suggest starting with creating boards first. Decide if you want it more general or specific depending on how you will use it. For example, if you won't use it much, you could just do a general folder called "Paper crafts" and put everything in there, or you could set up separate folders to keep ideas in each folder (for example, "Scrapbook layouts" "Color combinations" Card ideas" "Cricut inspiration" "3D papercraft projects" and "Papercraft storage ideas"). I also have boards set up for recipes (again, a simple "food" category vs. "drinks" "appetizers and munchies" "desserts" "Main dishes" depending on what works for you), favorite quotes, one for wedding ideas for my sister, other non-paper craft projects, a general "for the home" and travel inspiration.
Then as you make friends on Pinterest and find more boards to follow, you can pin things from other places to your own boards. You can click the "Pinterest" at top to see everything posted by your friends (similar to a Facebook Friends status page) or go to "Pinterest - Everything" to see stuff posted by people you don't know. Or "Pinterest - DIY & Crafts" to see all sorts of crafty stuff (without the style, food, travel, etc. mixed in).

if you're pinning from Pinterest directly, while you're logged in, you should see an option to press 'Repin" - then you go to a screen where you can drop down to select from all your boards (or create a new board). You MUST leave a comment/description (even if only a "."). You should get a message then letting you know it was successfully pinned to one of your boards, and then you can choose to view it or go back.
Hi everyone! I've always been a "lurker" and never posted anything until now; hope this is right! :-) For the past 3 days now I've been hooked reading the threads about pinterest and requested an invite from the site but I just can't wait any longer!!! lol Could someone please send me an invite so I don't have to wait any longer? Thanks a bunch! my e-mail is: [email protected]
AHA! That is what it is. I was not leaving a comment. Thanks so much! Now I'm off to try to locate all of the goodies I thought I had "pinned"

am finally on and have my boards set up....can anyone tell me how to pin the stuff in pictures folder on my desktop? I have lots of pictures saved for future reference.
Shayshe, it's like bookmarking but with visual aids. If you want to keep track of a web page then you Pin it (via a button installed on your Bookmarks toolbar - painless installation). The Pinterest website pops up a window with all the images on the page - you then select which image you want & can add descriptions, etc.
Describing how to do it sounds complex but, in reality, it's simple and easy. I wasn't sure if I would like it but now see it as a vast improvement on bookmarks. The best way to see if you like it is to give it a go. At most you'll waste a little time & you can always cancel your account.
There are privacy settings that can be changed - I don't see it as risky. After all, what information is being shared - pages on the web that you like; nothing more! I see Facebook as riskier.
I've only recently started & am still sorting out categories (called boards). Here's my pinterest page - which might give you an idea of how it works & how you can set up your own cattegories.

I'm not sure if you can pin items directly from your computer - i think you can only pin items from the internet. if you have them bookmarked as to where you found them, you can go to that page and pin from the internet.

Couldn't you upload the pics to a free picture place online (something like Photobucket) and then pin them from there?

Depends on if they are hers or downloaded from the internet. Pinterest does ask that links are to original sources. I know I tracked down an original source earlier and so happy I did because it was a fantastic blog of beautiful cards.
Somebody help!!!!! How do I edit my likes and followings if I have something that I want to clean up..... I can't figure out how to "delete" some of the images.
I've been a fan of SCS for years now, but never posted before. I just heard about Pinterest...I love it and requested an invite, but I'm not patient. Would anyone mind inviting me [email protected]
