Work is driving me crazy; they won't tell me what they're doing for nurses day! Everytime I ask, I'm told I'll just have to see, it'll be different every day. Umm, hello, you people know that I work PRN; I'm not there everyday!!! Ok, that's my vent for the day. Thanks for listening.
Cardiac nurse here for almost 20 years....love it most days. People are a lot sicker these days. Love my fellow nurses, tho ones I work with are the greatest. Happy Nurses Week to you all. Peggy
Not a nurse but have been rewarded by the services of many - so thank you all for the work you do, the hours you put in, the caring you freely give, and stuff you put up with!! Happy Week.

I'm an Ask-A-Nurse. (but don't ask me anything....) Currently looking for a school nurse job in the worst way!
Twenty six years ago this month I graduated.
Ever notice how almost ALL nurses are either crafty or animal lovers or both?
Yes I have noticed!
We're compassionate about humans and animals. And I think we're crafty because we HAVE to have a creative outlet!
Btw, 21 years here, most of that on a telemetry unit. I still love it and have been close to so many wonderful ppl through the years. My co-workers are the best! And thanks for all the hard work you other SCS nurses do!
I am a nurse and have worked 26 years in ICU, and have recently switched to Pre-Procedure. (We do health histories on all patients having a procedure and order testing and track down H&P's, stress tests, etc.......).
I graduated from nursing school in 1978 and worked mainly in orthopedics-I became a paralegal in 1987 and since the I have been doing medical defense work- helping all of my fellow health care workers who are being sued.
I am a nurse practitioner, and have been for the last 2 years. I work in a urology office now. Before then I worked in the Operating Room for 20 years, did a few years ICU then supervisory/staffing office. This is the 30th anniversary of my starting nursing school.
I love being a nurse and can't think of anything else I would want to be. I encourage anyone I can to become a nurse. It is a great job.
Here's to all of us nurses!!

*Big Wave & Hugs to my fellow nurses!
I work in surgery...have for 12 years now...love it! Recently switched to an outpatient surgical center (no more call! YAY! No more weekends! Yay! More time to stamp! YAY!)
Nursing has got to be one of the most rewarding professions, but it also has many frustrations, especially lately, when the almighty $ seems to be the bottom line. I love nursing. Just celebrated our 40th reunion. I have worked ICU, CCU, Medical and have for the past 17 years worked as a nursing supervisor. I love it! Something different every day and in a small hospital, it is a hands on position, so I get to do it all -emergency, obstetrics, and CCU are mostly the recipients of my expertise.
Happy nurses week to all my colleagues north and south of the border!
I've been a nurse for 4 years now, (was a CNA for 8 years before that). I work on the Med/Surg floor at our small community hospital. I have been working full-time, 12 hour shifts up until last week. I just dropped down to per diem, only working like 2 shifts a week, so that I could be home with my kids more, and homeschool my oldest in the fall. I really do enjoy being a nurse. Hope you all had a wonderful nurse's week!
