Default Ebay warning - please read

Found out that Ebay has made some changes to their advertising settings which automatically allow annoying pop up ads when you go into the search settings to look at auctions.

I was looking at the rubber stamps auctions today and back to back pop up ads covered the screens. Since I have pop up blocker installed and set to high and McAfee set to high, I couldn't figure out why I was still getting the ads popping up.

Found out that Ebay has gone in to their computer without anyone's permission and changed everyone's my account preferences settings to allow third parties to place ads on your screen.

If you are experiencing this problem. Here's the fix that was posted on the ebay message forum in order to stop this from happening.

Go to My eBay > My Account > Site Preferences > General Preferences > Advertising Preferences and click 'Show'. If both items are set to 'Yes', click 'Edit', deselect each box and click 'Save'.

I think it's very unethical for ebay to go in and change my account settings without sending me an email to advise of the change. In the past they have always done this.

If you shop or sell on Ebay, please go in an change your settings. Also send a message to Ebay about this. They should know how everyone feels about those doggone annoying pop up ads.

Thanks for the warning. I haven't been to ebay for awhile, but would be VERY irritated if that happened.

Wow - Thanks for posting this. I have spent quite a lot of time on E-bay this weekend. My sister's birthday is the 4th of July and I always give her theme type gifts. The pop-ups and scrolling down through the extra ads on each page have been driving me crazy!
