and I like it, mostly for the fact that it has grooves every 1/8". At first I had trouble scoring because the scoring tool is a tad on the flimsy side, and you have to get it seated in the opening of the groove to get a good score. After I figured that out, I really like it. It also makes a thinner groove than the Score Pal I think. I really like the envelope gizmo. BUT having said all that, I wouldn't take anything for my Score Pal. It is all around sturdier. JMHO The MS one was $19.99, but $12 and some change with a coupon.
I agree with the poster above. I also have a Scor Pal and it is made a bit sturdier than the MS one. However, I really like the fact that the MS one has score lines every 1/8" and no raised edges on the right and bottom. This way it can be used on cardstock that is larger than 12 x 12.
The tool is a bit flimsy, but I tried a metal tipped embossing tool with a small tip and it worked better than the tool that came with it. The triangle thing for envelopes can also be used to create evenly spaced diagonal lines as well.
All in all, it is worth the money, especially with a coupon.
I saw it last nite and wondered if I should buy it. I was debating if I should get a scorpal or UCC. Now the one by MS is in my consideration too. I wonder the quality of the MS one. Also, if the project instructions and videos done on scorpal can be applied on MS.
Can't beat the price with the coupon. Lots of thinkings....
and it makes a beautiful envelope. The only thing I did differently was fold that pointy part that is sticking up (not the flap, but the envelope itself) over to the inside like they do on the Crafter's Companion Enveloper. I like the looks of that better...but that is just me. I haven't tried any of the Score Pal projects with it, but I don't see why they wouldn't work.

So so so want one. The local Michael's is still getting the boxes in and such so none yet but I'll keep checking back until I have one. Can't afford the Scor-pal but this I can. And I love the 1/8" lines---love love love it. Now I just have to find one.

Got one!! I had to go to three different Mike's but I got the last one in north San Antonio!! Yay me....:rolleyes::rolleyes: Now if I'll only use it i'd be all set.

I got mine today for $10. I posted about it in the other thread. i think the groves are deep enough & they create a nice score. I really like the envelope triangle & I didn't even think I'd be that interested in it because I have an enveloper. I may not need my enveloper anymore! The think i like most about the triangle is that it helped me make the grid background of diamonds. It was so easy! I think I'll get a ton of use out of this tool. JIL
I was at my M's this morning and it looks like they're all gone already. I'd like to hear more from those of you who own the Score Pal and still purchased the Martha tool. I have a SP, but do find I'm frequently looking for a score line that's not there.
For those who use the Scor-Pal and look for a score line that is not there, that is what the 1/8" markings on the left side are there for. Need a 1-5/8" score, line up your paper on the 3/8" mark and score at 2", it leaves a scored line at 1-5/8". Or how about a 2-3/4" score, line up your paper at the 1/4" mark and score at 3". So, in your head make that 3" a "0" and count backwards - 2, 1, 3/4" final score is 2-3/4". It's so easy once you get the hang of it.

Our Michaels is soooooo slow and did not have it this morning :(
I have the very first scor pal and it did not have all the scor elines it has now nor did it have the side measurements , so I will buy one of the MS whenever I can get one...it is a BiG price difference for sure.

FYI - original SP owners can contact Diana or Roy at Scor-Pal and get credit towards a newer board with the additional lines. Not too many companies offer that....or free replacement tools if yours wears down.
I have to say that this is my one beef with the Scor-Pal...my brain is so NOT mathamatical and it takes me forever to figure out how to get the scores that I want!! Guess I just need to practice more!:rolleyes:

I have the Scor-Pal already, but am really considering getting the MS one only because of all the extra scoring options right where I want them.
Erin, you enabler you! Does this little sweetie have a center mark for when you need just the center of something? I called 1 of my Ms and they will hold one for me til they close tonight at 7. I'm drooling here, my keyoard is getting wet!!

There are scoring grooves every 1/8". There is no "direct center" mark because, if you think about it, different projects would have different center marks.

The Scorit and "centering rulers" are marked 6,5,4,3,2,1,"0",1,2,3,4,5,6 (I think); "0" being your center. Are the marks at the top of this one 1-12? I'm sorry, I can't tell by the pic. You could make your own "center" marks for frequently used measures (4.25" and 5.5", for instance, for a typical A-2 card) with a dot of sharpie right above that groove.
Suzanne ~ Believe it or not, that thought entered my beady brain this morning on my way to work. Sharpies are wonderful for so many things. Haven't had a chance to play yet ~ dgs is playing in a concert tonight and you know Gramma has to be there! Maybe tomorrow.
Looking at it last night, there is a slightly raised piece at the center that is the 'handle (so to speak) to open the little compartment for the stylus tool. The triangle envy thingy slides into a neat little grove on the underside of the unit. It kinda snaps in place so I don't think its going to go anywhere.
The stylus seems quite sharp (not sharp enough to cut a finger, but might cut lightweight cs). The grooves are hopefully deep enough.
I'm wanting to make one of those file folder thingamabobs and I bot pretty file folders and they seem quite thick. My Scor It might have to do that job. Will check it out.
It's getting rave reviews on another craft board I visit. For one thing, people have been using 40-50% off coupons to buy it. It also has diagonal scorelines for envelopes & such.
I have a ScorPal and love it, but if I was in the market for a scoring tool, I'd probably get the MS one at this point.

Thanks enablers!! Had to run someone to the Charlotte airport this morning and just happened to pop in to 3 M's up there and found it at the Rock Hill SC one!! In fact, they were fully stocked with them(including all those cool new border punches that I had to snag too) and used a 45% off. Now I need to unload my Scor-Pal. I can't count the number of times I wished there were smaller increments on it.
Thanks to all the great info I found here I ran out and bought one today! I love it! I don't think it is flimsy, or difficult to use at all. If you don't already have a scoring tool this would be the one to get! (and you save $ with a coupon)
I have a Scor-pal and bought the MS one yesterday...after playing with it a little tonight...the MS board is going back. i may be the only person that feels this way, but i just don't like the quality of it compared to the scor-pal and I can't see keeping in just for the envelopes...
This sounds terrific! I mainly use the Crafter's Companion tools (enveloper and top score) but occasionally need to score something bigger. Those times are the only ones when I use my Scor-pal. Now to find a coupon and get this baby- then the Scor-pal will be heading for ebay!

Great minds like alike! I have a Scor-Pal but have often wanted it to have more scoring options, so I think this little beauty might be a great buy. And with a coupon, seems like a great deal . . . can't wait for the Sunday paper and that coupon!
