Faux Mother of Pearl (Lumiere® Resist)

by Beate Johns

Use your Lumiere to create beautiful, shimmery resist background.

Supplies

image

Lumiere®

Glossy Cardstock

Saran Wrap™

Old CD or paper plate

Black Stazon™

Light colored dye ink

Brayer or sponges

Paper towel

Step By Step

Step 1

Step 1.
Add a small amount of Lumiere onto your old CD or paper plate.

Step 2

Step 2.
Bunch up your Saran Wrap and dip it into the Lumiere. Dab off excess Lumiere if you need to.

Step 3

Step 3.
Dab the Saran wrap all over your glossy cardstock. If necessary get some more Lumiere by dabbing the saran wrap onto the CD again. Make sure you leave some parts of the cardstock blank. When you are done, let dry completely.

Step 4

Step 4.
Brayer (or sponge) a light colored dye ink over your cardstock. I used Blush Blossom classic ink in this sample.

Step 5

Step 5.
Wipe over your cardstock with a paper towel. The ink over the Lumiere will come off, revealing a nice background.

Step 6

Step 6.
Stamp your image with Stazon ink.

Step 7

Step 7.
Finish your card. On mine, I went over the image with aqua painter and classic ink, to give it a hint of color. Again, when done you will have to wipe off excess ink.

Variations

Mix it up
Stamp your image first and color it in. Then go through steps 1-5.

Add Pearl Ex™
Mix Lumiere with Pearl Ex before dabbing it onto your cardstock.

For a different look
Start with black cardstock. Cover it almost completely with Lumiere. Once dry, brayer gray ink over it.
