My brothers and I spent half of our lives at the beach, we spent so much time under the water that dad often said we would turn into fish!! The boys would search for sunken treasure, while I searched for mermaids....ahhh that's a story for another day, but it did involve a pillow case and one flipper LOL.
About my card - sometimes I put too much ink, paint, spray and or water on my craft mat (ok it's really just a piece of aluminium foil), so I just get another piece of cardstock and place it on top of the excess - now I have two coloured sheets for my stash.
Sometimes the excess is actually on the initial sheet of cardstock. Instead of wiping or dabbing off the excess, lay another sheet of cardstock over the drowned piece, firmly wipe your hand all over the card. I think this is called the "kissing technique". This card was made using this method.
To create the illusion of light coming from the surface, I sprayed on some water at the top and tilted the card so it would dribble down the card. I also blotted some of the colour off.
If you are thinking that the stamping and micron pen border, doohickies and bubbles all look a bit faded, you are right. I broke the golden rule of "drying time". The card felt kinda dry but I really should have waited another hour or hit it with the heatgun. As the card continued to dry, the ink from the pen and stamp were absorbed into the background. Drying time is essential for silhouette stamping, but for a card like this, it isn't a big deal - I quite like the muted effect.
Thank you for looking.

You were a fish, too? Yup another guppy here! Really cute card....my favorite part is the plant life on the right. Actually the whole card has so much excellent stuff on it I could look for a long time..but I'll probably need to start dinner soon so I better blink...;)

What to say? What to say? I feel like we've been taken to the depths of a large pond. Your "light from above" effect is Tremendous!!! And I love the seaweed stamp with the Bling entwined within it. Beautiful! You really have nailed the water effect...it's Amazing!
You know though....I am looking at your Adorable "fish" and thinking "No, it can't be...can it???" That fish bears a strong resemblance to something I read, about a pillowcase and one flipper. Come on, Susie, fess up,...this is you as a small girl being a little fishie looking for your mermaid! Right? This was something you believed in as a girl and you've made it "come true" on paper. I can see the pillowcase pulled halfway up your little bird body...and the single flipper attached at the back. I could be wrong though. But I do hope that someday you find your mermaid.
