Hi! This is for my Monday challenge with some SCS friends. This week we were to make a card with one of the first stamp sets we ever owned. For some in my group that's probably going to be hard to remember their first stamp set(s) since they've been stamping for many years.
I, however, do remember my first stamp set, which is Delightful Doodles. I remember my first Stampin' Up workshop and feeling so overwhelmed by the SU catalog and knowing what to buy. My friend suggested this set because she knew I love flowers and it was one of the lower-priced sets in case I discovered that I really didn't like stamping. Right. That was about 5 years ago.
So, I chose the flower stamp from this set and the crayon resist technique to create my bg. I stamped in black with Stazon, applied to white crayon where I wanted to, and then sponged with Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, and a bit of Mellow Moss. The last step is to wipe off the excess ink with a paper towel so that the crayon resist shows.
As I hate to cover up all my bg work, I chose to make this little purse-like sentiment tag. The little flowers on the tag are from Short & Sweet.
TFL!

Cute card, Charlene!! Love the colours and your little purse!! I'm not sure if I have my very first stamp any more.. I think it was a vase filled with flowers.. and I embossed it in gold and coloured it in with markers.. I thought it was lovely.. in retrospect it wasn't bad - but it sure makes me laugh now!

This has such a cool, happy, retro feel...can you believe I have never tried that crayon resist technique?? Boy, I'm sure glad you stayed with the stamping, we'd be lost without your pretty cards!
