This year is Oklahoma's Centennial year. This card is a tribute to Oklahoma and my dad, who was considered a Davis pioneer. He passed away in 1951. Look below the picture and you will see our home town Davis.
The scanned picture is one I found in my scrap pile, because of the printing, and the map background is a page out of a 1976 Atlas , my husband threw in the trash and guess who took it out.
The old truck in the picture is one my dad used to haul - corn, cotton, peanuts, rock & gravel for roads - anything to make a living for his family.
The card - burned around the edges of the map with a match, distressed the picture, added ribbon and brads.
Thanks for taking the time to view my card.

Had a pang in the pit of my stomach. Both sides of my Mother's family came from OK. G'Mother left there during the Dust Bowl to S TX. Don't know when my G'Father's side left.
What a nice card.

I too am having a hard time fighting back tears as I read your comments and looked at the picture. Not only is the card beautifully done, but the memories are priceless. You must have been very young when your father passed away but seem to have memories of how it was then -- you can tell in your comments. Sorry, this is so long -- but just wanted to say this is so beautiful and thank you for sharing your story.

Thanks for sharing your touching memories. I would never ever give this away! In fact, I would probably turn it into a scrapbook page to keep forever...
