I was just going to run downstairs and make a quick wedding shower card that I need for a shower tomorrow. Instead, I saw the already prepared sentiment piece and decided it would look great with today's mixability challenge technique. An hour later, my "quick card" is done and I still don't have a shower card yet! I do like the look of this though and I have another piece waiting to use on another card.
Marilyn's technique is to cut open a plastic bag and put ink or paint onto one side of the opened bag. I used the Distress inks. Then you spritz liberally and close the bag and smash the inks together a bit. Open the bag, pop in your cardstock (I used two pieces to get more bang for my buck) then close the bag and press the ink onto your cs. (Pictures on my blog.) Once I had this piece I backed it with a piece of the In Color Mossy Meadow which I love! I took a strip of turquoise and embossed it with the border ef. I ran my silver pad directly over the raised areas and along the edges of this piece. I had the anchor already diecut-added the hole at the top and tied on the twine. I then dipped it into my silver pad and sprinkled with a mix of eps that I use for an old metal look. My sentiment piece was sponged in the die and is popped over my Moss circle with the anchor popped also and the whole piece popped over the embossed strip.

You've really captured the colours of the sea in your background! I love your anchor and twine embellishment. This is a wonderful card and I appreciate the time you took to describe how you made it. TFS

Ah - I wondered how distress inks would work. Probably better than markers for me, I shall have to try some time. That embossed strip looks great with the anchor.

Wow, for a quick card, you certainly created a wonderful bg. Leave it to MariLynn to come up with this smooshing technique. What a great card with an equally great theme.
