Tiffany's MIX71 challenge is Sandy Shores
I thought I could combine that with Adelle's Ocean Water VSN challenge, to use the salted background technique.
I made two different backgrounds with the salted technique - this was on glossy card which I haven't tried before. It's given a lovely glazed slightly crystalline finish which you can't really see in the photo.
For the foreground, I sponged the sandy colours and stippled a bit more in with a stencil brush. Stamped the birds, tore the edge and layered it over the die-cut waves. The base layer is white card which I brushed with blue chalk pastel scraped over it, and then added finger-painted "happy little clouds" from Lydia's MIX49 challenge. I used some distress EP all round the edges, adding a bit more across the sandy part of the panel. Somebody gave it to me years ago, and I've never had much success with it for anything except sandy beaches, so it was perfect for the MIX challenge.
Nearly ran out of time trying to come up with a background, just scraped in on the one hour limit. One base layer is already recycled into another card. In the end I sponged the edges of a white base with Aqua and stamped IO Distress with Antique Linen.
For IC444, this Chroma Horizions V is one of the pieces of wall art I was really struck by yesterday. It reminded me a lot of a piece of wall art I used in an IC last year to make a covered notebook, so I wanted to be sure that I made something quite different this time round.

I love how you used the salted technique on the waves. They look so realistic and have so much depth. Love it! Thanks for playing in my challenge.
